Sure, but what year and decade.. that's the question.

As the late and great JFK once said.... We choose to launch to beta... We choose to launch to beta not because it is easy, but because it is hard!!!" You know, when you get millions a month in Patreon waiting for that Alpha to drop, imagine what happens when it does drop and you spoil your broken promises and software jank.

Do we have another Don Alejandro on our hands? Perhaps another SuperSegaFPGA Traphouse going on?

There's massive amounts of copium and what not going on here saying "it takes time to develop this and that and give the guy time blah blah" It certainly doesn't take the dev time and resources this dudes pocketbook has available to make slight upgrades to a system.

Ya boy is living the dream in a nightmare world somewhere in a country where them 50k+ patreon subs are funding a lavish lifestyle and he gets to post 1-2 times a year about delays. I guarantee the next post will be something about himself or a family member having some sort of an illness and having to step away for a while and the progress being put on hold for 6 months. Everyone will be like "OMG OMG TAKE YOUR TIME HEALTH IS SO IMPORTANT".

eh, it never ends. Are business' people or are they entities designed to pump out the things we pay for and demand what we pay for, or at the least designed to give us what other people do willingly pay for each month, because no way I would support a patreon for that many years with this little progress.

If I wanted to dump that much money into a project with 0 output I'd probably fund myself.
Amen.

My thoughs exactly...I mean, he has a lot of incentive to delay VaM2 for as long as possible, given that though he hasnt even released anything still has a ton of patreon subs. "Oh but but if he doesnt get subs he cant keep developing" He absolutelly can and he will keep delaying for years. I looked into the game progress chart he has and the game lack like 80% of stuff to be complete. Thats 5 years of progress for ya. VaM1 has still years and years to be left behind.

I'm not a fanboi or anything (for chrissakes, I'm a pirate), but how does this belief that MeshedVR is just sitting on V2 make sense?

Some baseline assumptions:
1. MeshedVR has a pool of ppl paying him.
2. This pool is either static or slowly draining (or quickly draining IDK).

I would speculate that if something gets released, attention/notoriety would skyrocket. i.e. social media, gaming media, forums etc. would start buzzing. Widespread awareness would cause many more ppl to download, of which a percentage would actually subscribe.

THEREFORE I posit that if he were to actually release something, there would be a net increase in his income. The sooner he releases, the more he makes. I almost failed Econ, but the one thing I learned is present day cash is much better than future cash.

This scenario works unless what he releases is so bugged that the backlash is really bad, leading to huge numbers of cancellations. So if I were him, that would be the tradeoff I would be contemplating ... I sure as hell would not just sit and milk the subscriber base leading to pissed off fans who go away.

I get what you are saying, but VaM is niche yet, and is expected to stay like that. I once read on the discord that getting too much attention from the public would be problematic (all the looks based on real people) and licensing stuff. Under this assumption i say that he is keepinng the people that are interested on the loop $$$$$. 5 years and very little progress.

Bro that was someone's opinion not from Meshedvr or the team and I think I saw that from someone here on this site also or it was in the vam forums after the steam version issue. Yeah don't forget they did a steam release so I doubt that they are trying to keep things on the low.

It's the internet mate. it kind of how people think.

I seriously doubt. Those interested are already subscribed. His base won't grow much faster. And VAM 2 is never ending story. There's no interest in finishing this other than personal ambition. There was a drop in patreons recently and my guess is that every delayed month will be the same. But still - there's a solid number of 15k subscribers paying every month. You see the numbers below.

Personally i'm dissapointed that VAM2 will not resolve any of the problems from VAM1 - just better graphics - and everything else should be done by plugins.

This is what happens when there's no real competition.
With that much amount of money, why bother in delivering VaM2 soon? We are almost in April and no beta either. That one was promised to launch in January, that says all u need to know about the VaM2 progress...

vam2 its not that simple "better graphics" it gives more detailed mesh. now after 5year playing with vam1 almost all girl look kinda same couse low quality face mesh. but ofc unity 22 gives path tracing and cool advanced shaders (eg glass and cristalas ) and hq sss :) yeah ill love it when it will be launched in 2030 :D

Even if VAM2 did nothing other than being able to utilise more than a single core of a CPU I'd say it would be worth it, but its obviously going to be doing a lot more than that. What are these specific problems you mention and do you have posts to back up your claims that they wont be resolved?

Yeah I mean, have you actually tried the alpha? Greater detail, greater performance, and the render rate is much faster. Playing VAM 1 is such a chore because even with up to date PC capabilities, it loads at a snail's pace.

Time plays against VAM 2 because VAM 1 which is already super continues to garner new content and plug-ins.
Someone recently added a proper collider addon for the dicks. Once that is out of the beta phase, i dont think ill need VAM 2 lol

VAM 1 runs like utter crap, especially for how it looks and what it does. It feels so damn bloated on ram usage and no proper multi threading. It needs to be put out to pasture. I wish I could wrap my head around coding but it's one of those things I have a lot of trouble putting focus into. I work with hardware, making and repairing.

not really. most plugins are fixing retarded shit about the first game that in theory shouldnt be present or as pressing. Content can be made many times quicker but creators should have their models or can export easily. so there's not really any major things that wold keep people on v1 unless they butcher it and cut out custom meshes or something

I don't know what will be resolved and what won't be. It's future. By looking at current pace, it will take another decade. Alpha was released like 2 years ago. Now it's going to beta1 and Meshed already has plans for beta2 to beta6. And future betas are more difficult because of topics.
