The game would be better if there was more player agency. For instance, I didn't make the decision to pursue David, the game did. I wanted to tell Lucas to take a hike, but the game had other ideas. I actually wanted Vicky to go for Joshua who is a funny perv, but he's not even a choice, apparently.

I suppose I'll know for certain if I agree with the dev's vision when I reach the end of the current version, but I don't have high hopes.

You don't get a choice with Lucas because he needs to remain in the game if Victoria is on the good girl path. Having a completely separate path, where she has split up with him, would probably be too time consuming, even if it's now obvious she's losing or lost interest in him. If you've made a lot of bad girl choices, you've already effectively decided to split up with him eventually. Victoria just hasn't fully realised it yet. She's been with Lucas a very long time and always assumed they'd eventually get married. In game this is reflected by her indecision regarding him.

The limited romance options are probably also just an attempt to save time in the development process, which is already incredibly slow anyway. This is a game that can ill-afford further delays, to accomodate all the desires of players. If you think about it, this is pretty obvious. I don't understand why players never get this?

But is Victoria that shallow, that she'd choose a boyfriend just because he might have money in the future?

The only reason for them being together, is that it's so easy for her to cheat on him. Lucas is not very observant and believes implicitly that they are destined to be together. He's almost completely oblivious to the changes in Victoria, since she moved to the city or her blatant flirting with other people, which would be an obvious signal to any half-decent boyfriend, that maybe she was having doubts about their relationship?

Even in a small town, it's hard to believe Victoria wouldn't have attracted a string of better looking suiters than Lucas, as well as all the bad boys. She would never have dated him, in a million years.

Finished the current version content and don't really know if I'm sold. The renders are great, the scenes are great. I get the feeling that one of the relationships is a self insert of the dev. The narrative is railroaded. I was hoping that decisions amounted to more than "go this way for sex" and "go this way for no sex."

And the lesbian path is very obviously an afterthought, not a slow burn route. The main protagonist is bisexual with a heavy preference for dick.

I won't watch this one as closely anymore. Not a bad VN, just not a great one, either.

I’d agree with you, it does feel pretty railroaded. I’ve always found that to be the case with a morality system of good girl/bad girl. Not sure why I can’t play a bad girl with taste.
