What does it depend on whether I can swap a look in a scene?
If I select a look under Control & Physics 1 under Change Look, the existing look can be replaced by a few, but not with many of the other looks. Also, none of the looks that I have as a Var in my collection appear there

The look should be saved before. Look in var are mostly saved as scene and not "look" or "apparence preset". So, you can open var, save your look and then it can be used in other scenes

Oh man, what is that pubic hair? There's no way that's just a texture. Is that part of the same .var by ujvam? I would also love that texture pack.

Come on, just dont download it, it was a great effort and we are grateful for it, i cleaned it in a few hours and now i dont have any dependencies problems, but thats on you, if you want another thing go to the creators patreons and pay them like you should.
I reckon it is one of the pubes hair files - I've just done this using one of Scamp's pubes, adjusting the length drastically. You'd not want that in your face.
No no You have misunderstood me. I don't want to appear ungrateful. But with the amount of content you assume that you finally have no messages in the error log and all scenes and looks are loaded properly. But there is apparently a lot more content. I also saw that, for example, at Podflower, the looks that really interested me are not in the pack.

I tried a few saved json files under apperence / Person, but the look doesn't change when I click on load look.Some others do. That's why my question what it depends on that a look can be used to changed.
Another way is :If you load a preset under Appereance Preset then Vam swaps the look But how do I save my looks as an Appereance preset?

Looks (old way of saving looks) = Saves/Person/Appereance folder - you open them in the "load look" button in the control tab
Appereance (new way) = Custom/Atom/Person/Appereance folder - you open them in the Appereance tab
If they don't load that means you are not loading them correctly... most of looks that you are downloading are coming in a form of scenes that you should be opening through the regular scene load, then you save the appereance in the "Appereance" tab.
