var pretty much is zip file just with differently named extension, if that zip has .json and all those things var needs then just renaming .zip into .var should be enough.

There's an easier way. I think there's a checkbox at the bottom of the UI for "lock player height" or something like that, and then I believe you click the thumbstick and move up and down.
