Is there a VAM for Dummies or a VAM 101 tutorial somewhere?
Something that gives you all the basics and how to get started with it.
And walks you through all the baby questions.
Do you have to use VR goggles?
Can you use it to create single PNG & WEBM files?
Is there a rabid VAM fanbase for games created with it?
Which shaders does it use? System requirements? Is it a cpu or a gpu chugger?
And probably a couple dozen more that I haven't thought of. Been reading through the thread for 20 minutes, but there's so much information here it's hard to find the basics.
Yeah. But I hate them. They are too long, try to overexplain everything...
VAM can be complex if you want to edit stuff, but it's so easy if you just download a scene and an appearance preset.
To get started with it, simply download a scene you like, I suggest TGC Virtual Sweetheart, SlamT training girls, XWizard, RYMG, Kittymocap, NLVAM... any of those are good
Put those .var files into Addonpackages folder and have fun.
Check my signature for more stuff.
You dont need VR goggles
Of course. You can print screen, or use a plugin to take a picture
There isn't a rabid fanbase for games created with VAM. Which can be good if you want to make it, because of the Blue Ocean concept.
No idea about the shaders. VAM is CPU bound mostly because there are limited ways to lower the physics stuff, but you can have good image quality with a pretty awkward GPU. I started playing with an RX570. The most GPU demanding stuff is hair. But I dont really see the point of using absurd levels of hair multiplier like 50, since anything beyond 20 is imperceptible.
