I think if you progess princess bubblegum's route to the point of meeting the goddess, If you haven't done the prerequisites for marceline you're locked out of her route.

Yeah, that seems to be an issue people keep having. Nemu seems to be aware of it because he mentions it in his walkthrough, but I don't know when he's going to fix that.

I think you could get it in previous versions, but the Fire Kingdom is still very much a WIP, and there isn't much use for the crystals so far other than a very limited sense of progression.
