Study the book in your room on the evenings and you'll learn new spells (you might need some extra steps for some spells). Do it every time your level raises until you only get the exp and no new spells

Does the game have an actual ending? I have finished the last quests on the guide "Return on Investment" and "Hot enterprise" and the game just keeps looping the days without any real conclusion. Am I missing something?

The ending has been in the game since 0.505 IIRC, but it does not come automatically.

Mdc94 has giving you the method how to learn new spells. Hint: if the candle in your study burns, there is something to learn.
Some spells have requirements. Krowly will mention them, but mostly only once. This game requires you to pay close attention to the dialogues.
Craft potions in your lab. When done several times, this will raise your alchemy proficiency.
Same goes for Cooking. Hint: help Alice in her home on mornings when it's raining. This will raise your relationship level and cooking skill (up to intermediate) at the same time. Later, help out Samantha. This gives a lot of XP and is repeatable.
Gardening, work in your garden (use the shovel that's lying on your field) on non-rainy mornings or afternoons.
Finally, did you know there is a comprehensive walkthrough posted in the OP ?
I just updated to 1.000.1.1 and the missing Map170 bug is still there. Has anyone been able to finish the beacon in the Monastery ruins for the Warlocking for dummies quest?
