Talking to the Blacksmith's Daughter gave me this exact feeling—not only do I get cucked and turned into a beta male/feminist, but my real-life male character is transformed into a female in the VR world. It feels like a churning sissification of my character, and during that time as a female in the VR world, I also experienced being raped. Dev, work on the dialogues. Don't use MC as a voiceover. His comments on every occasion are terribly boring. Remove repetitive and empty dialogues - no one likes wasting time. Remove or expand placeholders like the map and phone. If there is no choice, then why give the illusion of choice. This will not make the game "by modern sandbox standards", it will just make players feel cheated. MC seems not entirely adequate. I understand the reasons for his concern, but his jealousy is simply off the scale of all reasonable limits. It looks weird! And please be more attentive. It feels like the characters' dialogues mean nothing and have no continuation, hence the brilliant opuses like:
- I got a job.
- Great!
*The next day.
- Where are you going?
- To work.
- Oh, right, you got a job.

Or:
- Son, I want to tell you something.
- What?
- Oh, no, nothing.
- Ok.

The renders are nice. The plot hasn't been revealed yet, but even though it's simple, it doesn't look bad. But the gameplay is just torture.

The game itself is nice, for first release is 5/5. Especially when compared with previous one A Wife's Life... This really reminds Healslut, The Proteus Effect, Transportal or even Trap Quest, good it or bad.
If disclaimer at the end is true and transformation/ntr will be optional (or evading it is a goal with obstacles), we can get an interesting game on the genre merge. Also interesting, how far will go cooperating with The Last Enchantress: Revival's creator. Will a virgin run be possible for mc and his GF?

There are plenty of people who does play such open world games with female characters,mostly because they look much better and sexy and also most guys are attracted to womans which is one of the other biggest reasons for a guy to play female character in such a game - it's pretty much as you watch some movie and since you are attracted to womans you happen to like one or more of the girls characters in the movie - example: Black Widow; Mighty Thor; Lara Croft and so on...

Now for the games you mention,i only did tried Healslut but that one was too animated and focused on the game the MC did play - here we have MC living his life while meanwhile happens to give that VR game a shot because of his girlfriend but i'm pretty sure the dveloper are gonna focus on both parts,what will happen in MC's life and how the game will affect him and what happens in the VR world while playing the game which is the biggest difference between this one and Healslut,but of course we will need to wait and see what will happen in next few updates since this is only the beginning.

PS: Just because you may not like BBC it doesn't mean this is the laziest way to build a NTR,besides using BBC is always much more better and fun

Who knows,at some point she may also get raped(or she may already did get raped - remember her stats is locked in the game and for MC to unlock it he needs to find some orb or something to unlock the stats on a friend),but the game is about the MC not about his girlfriend so it's pretty normal the focus to be on the main character and since he is playing a girl in a virtual open world with no limits i would say it actually does make sense for his character to be raped

First quest: after speaking with the two men to learn where the bandits are and parting ways with the GF and checking her (locked) stats, there is nowhere to click on the screen to progress. Just the image of MC standing in the courtyard. No boots icon or clickable area. Am I missing something?

Yes,you are missing the fact that there is map option on your right where are your other icons as for character and so on - click on the map icon and will show you the map in bigger size and the locations you need to go.

GOOD start i would suggest a transformation tag so the butt hurt incels will quit crying about the female protagonist part ...
there is a lot of grind to get through before you get to the actual point of the game ....aka going to school and to work etc seems like a lot of needless filler .....good thing it is renpy so you dont have to repeat those parts once you get through them

I don't know about anyone else, but for the latest sex scene that includes sound, I have no control over the audio except to mute all (which works in muting the sound). However, if I try to change the sound level using any of the three sound bars (even to where sound should be nonexistent), then I get the same loud sounding scene.

I don't have any problems with repeating scenes/parts again and again - it's actually much better when you have more "actions" to do in a game then just simply reading a story and making choices from time to time. It's good that this one is more of a SandBox Renpy where you can choose the destination on the map you need to go (in both MC's everyday life and in the VR game he started playing) and it looks like just like in any normal open world game there are some other "actions" to do like pressing to see your character,equip armor and stuff,looking/cheking to your friends stats,opening the map,may be even choosing what skills to rise/level up if it happens that you will have some (in the VR game MC's playing) while ih his everyday life there may be some other things to do instead only choosing where to go like for example choosing what clothes to wear(or may be even some other stuff like a butt plug if later he happens to be feminize it by his girlfriend or by some other way),choosing what stuff to buy from a shop/mall,placing stuff like a camera or some other things if he needs to do it for a certain reason... that kind of stuff.

Lets wait and see what will happen in next update and how much new things to do there will be eventually.
