Don't take it personally, but I think the way of communicating causes these personal attacks.

Postponing a release multiple times because of a completely predictable event (public holiday, birthday) puts people in a bad mood. What makes it worse is that you announce the postponement on the 'last possible' date (release at the end of the weekend, announcement at the end of the weekend). People are hyped and the excitement/anticipation created by the date is replaced by disappointment.
People's personal attacks are never excusable and these attacks are stupid and unnecessary, but it's completely predictable that this will happen. This is the internet.

It would be wiser to just not to announce a specific release date. If you plan to release something in May, don't say May or Q2. That would give you too little buffer. Just say summer or somethign like that.

Point taken, I think I'll just not say anything in the future Though I think people getting shitty about delays on a free porn game need to sort themselves out regardless.

Definitely, especially as you have already released multiple great games and have more in development. I think horniness brings out the worst in people, especially on f95. Keep up the great work!

When you name the characters, you need to say no and confirm their default names. I'm not talking about accepting when you get the prompt to name them, u have to pretty much decline naming them outright.

Moving on from the insulting idea that the lowest point of my life was a 'bad phase', for the past two and half a years I have consistently updated my other two projects without issue. So regardless of what happened 4 years ago, it doesn't matter what I do now, there are still people unable to move on because they aren't capable of any kind of rational thought or empathy.

Even with all that said, harassing or threatening a developer is never ok, under any circumstance. 'Flak' as you call is not excusable and using language like that only conflagrates the issue. Devs are people with lives just as complex as anyone elses. We are often a single dev with an artist we have to pay. Most of us only want to provide a fun, enjoyable game with some tasty smut regardless of how successful the project is simple because we enjoy the craft. I know I feel this way and I'm sure there are plenty of others who do too.

This is operating under the premise that devs interact in good faith with their supporters. You know that is not always the case. Urban demons started because of Wootch intentionally stringing along his supporters. This is a depressingly common issue with patreon and subscribstar projects and a valid concern for supporters.
IMO this response to what is likely to be a fairly common position, which I think was stated in a relatively benign manner, is not a great look.
Absolutely no desire to get in a pissing match with you so I will wish you all the best with your game, which again, looks like it could be one of the greats.

We are often a single dev with an artist we have to pay. Most of us only want to provide a fun, enjoyable game with some tasty smut regardless of how successful the project is simple because we enjoy the craft. I know I feel this way and I'm sure there are plenty of others who do too.

This is the mainest reason why I can't do dev work. I can't enjoy a game I'm making! Sucks the fun out of it if I already know whats going to happen. Thanks for what you do man. AZL was huge back then.

FYI, from what I can gather it is absolutely not cancelled, although almost definitely placed on hold (in terms of releasing updates, not in terms of development). Dev, understandably, could not handle with how most of you guys act like 12 year old children in terms of how spoiled and inconsiderate you are regarding a product 90% of you do not pay for.

Dev works on other games, don't expect an update on this until he has completed either the full game or some substantial portion of the game. Since the start he has explicitly stated multiple times that this project will be the third priority for him, given he started first on the other two games and hundreds/thousands of people pay him for the progress promised on those two project. That is, he has always stated work/releases on this project will be irregular and will be subject to when he is not working on the other two projects that take precedent. Will not be published in the same version by version process as other Nergal games; mostly thanks to those in or from this thread who have the patience of a pre-teen.

I've gathered this perspective from his patreon, his discord, and his interactions here. Big thanks to those that have fucked it all up for the rest of us.

Understand that, from the way some of the users here type, a portion of the site's traffic might as well be pre-teens. I could only imagine what I'd be up to if this website existed back when I was 12.

Only just noticed this game because the artstyle is *gorgeous*, but from what I'm hearing we're not getting new builds until it's way further along? Bit of a shame, but hey, as long as the game comes out good I'll be happy, "A rushed game is bad forever" and all that.

Don't know when we'll be getting updates since the dev is kind of a passive aggressive asshole when it comes to anyone asking questions. Dev said an update was coming in June but were now halfway thru August, then brought up the topic of making smaller updates or just releasing the full game, so who knows anymore. Discord is dead for this game. The other games look to get a lot of support however so idk why they cant push some updates out.
