I love it how these individuals have the audacity to think they can tell other people how to spend their money.
2,000+ people are perfectly happy to financially support this dev & feel they are getting value for their money.
Circa 5 people on here think they know better.

It's none of your fucking business how other people choose to spend their money.
Take your salty bitters and go back to your corner.

Let us see; right now their Patreon is at $8,219 per month. Right away take off about 30% to get a rough estimate of what Patreon and the tax collector take off. That leaves you with $5,753 per month net income then x12 for per year and you get $69,036 then divide by 2 since it is a husband and wife partnership and this is per person income since they are both working on this and not at another job get you $34,518 per year or in the neighborhood of $18/hr full time.

If anyone wants to refute my math. By all means please show me your math or hold your peace.

30% is a fair estimate.
Circa 20% tax (UK & US rates), Patreon fees are 5% for Lite, 8% for Pro.
There is also a Premium bracket at 12%, but I doubt many devs have gone for that.
They also charge 2.5% per foreign payment conversion.

$18 p/h is obviously calculated on a 40 hour work week ($2,876.5 pcm / 160 = 17.9).
I suspect you can add quite a bit more to this pair's weekly hours, so their hourly rate is probably considerably lower.
If they work a 60 hour week, it's $2,876.5 / 240 = $11.9 p/h.

Not just that, self-employed work is actually hard If you are not organized. I write this from experience: the money keeps coming (regardless if you work or not), you focus on dead ends and your deadline stretches because time flies when you are distracted. When you have a third party establishing how much you work, when the work needs to be finished or what part of the project to focus, can be sometimes better...and you end up losing money (aka being fired) if you fail any goal.

Some devs are just poor time managers, others scammers or simply start slacking as they see the money pile up.

If some backers keep supporting and feeding the devs bad habits or bad service, it's their individual choice...

& some devs have standards and do not want to release rushed, buggy, sloppy updates.
They would rather take their time over attention to detail, to get it correct so that they are happy with it, which is obviously not slacking.
The fact that they have offered Patreon refunds during this time shows that they are not scamming & earning $11-18 per hour (60h-40h week) each doesn't really constitue "watching the money pile up".

Maybe they are not the best at time management, maybe they just have a lot to do.
Who's to say?

I agree with your point about patrons enabling devs' poor behaviours.
If you get paid to release nothing, why should you release something? lol
But, fortunately, not all devs are like that. This dev does not seem to be.

2nd thing: On what grounds do you call the images "incredibly simplistic"?
To say something such as this, you must have produced some incredibly complex art work, or perhaps have an art degree, right?
If not, then how do you evidence this seemingly unfounded opinion & substantiate your claim?
Because actual dedicated and talented developers like digi.B (Artemis) have created TWO THOUSAND AND SEVEN HUNDRED (2700) renders in 5 months.

This game is pastel artwork. So basic that it's a joke compared. And much more simple than the realife, high def developer that i mentioned

Yeah, this dev is milking it... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Sorry to say, i loved this game for what released.... but at this point... Icstor comes to mind :ROFLMAO:

So, because someone completely different, with a totally different skillset, does that amount, you think that's automatically the benchmark for everyone?
Fucking hell, get a grip kid.
Are those renders using completely custom, self designed assets? Or are they using modified stock assets?
As a matter of fact, how many renders has gone into this release? Do you know?
If not, then your argument fails, instantly.

End of the day, it's none of your business how other people choose to spend their money.
Take your salty bitters and go back to your corner.

I guess we'll see. Maybe you're right?? Afterall... WMV said the 2000 render update was ready in February 2022. :ROFLMAO:

Man, this industry is so full of scammers :ROFLMAO:

Yeah dude, absolute top quality there!:LOL::LOL::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
No wonder they churned out so many!
Please, continue. You're fucking hilarious!!
Man, this industry is so full of scammers :ROFLMAO:
That I agree with.
But, again, just because it's out there, does not mean that it automatically applies to all.
London is rife with knife crime. Doesn't mean everyone's carrying a blade.

You don't seem to understand the bottom line, that this product is available for free.
The people who choose to pay to support the dev, do so of their own choice, for their own reasons.
But they are paying to support the dev, not to buy a game. That's why they're patrons, not customers.
The devs also offered refunds for the delays.
So it doesn't stand to reason to say that they are milking.

Uh i see nothing with those renders. You're comparing that to this????

You're comparing cartoons to something actually trying to create real life renders??? :ROFLMAO: Pathetic.

Anyway, i don't hate this game. In fact, i loved playing it. But the dev is basically an Icstor milker :ROFLMAO:

Maybe? I guess 10 months past the last update and 8 grand each speaks for itself. But who knows.
It's a stupid comparison actually. Because you just need to create one model and you can rig it freely throughout the development and easily created tons of renders, when the other one, you need to hand draw each frame, one by one. And not talking about artstyle, where in game like this, they just have one person to draw to maintain consistency in artstyle, where you can have 100 guys to make a 3D render, as long as they using same model.

Totally agree that these guys are still likely working their asses off, and think the idiots complaining about the wait should get over it, but you really wouldn't calculate hourly wages based off what you make post-taxes, it's a bit disingenuous. I'd say count the 8% patreon rate, you're still only sitting around around $23.63 an hour, for game development and art work that's cheap as fuck.
