Weekly report 167
Hi, everybody.

I hope you've had a good week despite the scorchingly hot weather, especially if you live in the northern hemisphere.
Our report this week will be brief, mainly because we did more of what we had done last week: Chestnut worked only on cutscenes, and I wrote, edited, and posed scenes from Gomira's second quest (I'm still in the beginning parts of it).

For the rest of this report, I want to address an issue that I think should not be ignored: our development time for the 0.7 content.
We released our previous update on the 31st of July of last year, so it's almost a year since an update, and I completely understand that many of you who have supported us simply because you like our game and want to see us succeed are unhappy with our rate of output. It's frustrating to know that we're not doing as well as you think we should. We owe you, our patrons, everything when it comes to being able to work on the game full-time and take care of our family, and I don't want to fail you.

There's a lot that I'd like to do but can't, but the least I can do is explain why it has taken us this long to develop 0.7, and what we're doing to shorten it. Whether our reasons are valid or not, I'll leave to your judgment:
Shortly after the release of 0.6, when we had taken a short break, had done the planning phase of 0.7, and had started with the writing and the earlier tasks, we had our second baby. Our newborn was completely different from our first child and required a lot more attention from us, and that was the first circumstance that noticeably impacted the number of hours we could dedicate to work at that time.
The second circumstance happened in January when I had two back-to-back surgeries that crippled me for a while, leaving most of the work on Chestnut's shoulders.
In both of these instances, we discussed and considered pausing Patreon for a month or two but decided that that would essentially halt the project because, despite having a baby and the surgeries, we were trying to put as many hours a day as we could into development. The hours were admittedly less than before, but they moved the project forward.

It has been a few months now that we have gotten back into our old routine, not as well as before we had our baby (I used to clock 8-10 hours a day, seven days a week, now I do 7-8 hours, still seven days a week), but the impact of those months is there. Add to that the fact that Gomira's update has more words than any of our previous releases, translating into more content that needs to be posed, edited, tested, and, of course, created art for.
To move things faster, we have been working seven days a week and stopped taking breaks (except when necessary for the baby). People ask me for release dates, and I'm sorry because although we have internal deadlines that we try to reach, I cannot share them. All I can say is that we're trying very hard to have this release ready as soon as we can.

Have a great weekend.
Cheers
At least they finally agknowledged the HUUUUUUUUUGE wait time

Man, it really has been almost a year, huh? That's so depressing because I absolutely adore this game and would love to spend more time with it. I can't even be mad tho seeing what the reason for the delay is. Maybe a game of this size is too much for just 2 people after all... Imagine if there was a whole team of people working on it. But then again, it's probably Chestnut's art that's taking the longest to do so I feel like even having more staff wouldn't speed things up... atleast not in the art department.

Yeh well...

- the update is twice the size the previous update.
- they got a second child, a cry baby or so...
- he hurt his back

We will see, here the current progress:

I would suggest art+posing is the most important one, if those are finished, it's only a matter of time. My suggestion is that posing would create more art work, and art work just takes time to finish. Lots of time...

Just discovered this game a few days ago, and wanted to cognratulate you on one of the most enjoyable porn games around. Hope your surgery problems are behind you now, and congratulations on the second baby. Keep up the good work! I'd rather have a great game that updates once a year than a mediocre one with monthly updates.

Well it's more than a year, but if you are entering now, you only have to wait another 4 months or so for the next update...

Hi everybody.

I want to start this report by thanking all of you who commented on our last report or messaged us. Every feedback we received was encouraging, and I honestly don't know what to say other than promising you that we will give it all we have and try to take care of ourselves while working as many hours as possible to finish this update.

Now the report:
Last week, Chestnut worked on cutscenes during the weekend, but then for three days she took over the house responsibilities we usually share so that I could work extra hours on a challenging section of the game that I had difficulty with. She got back to drawing yesterday and continued doing images from cutscenes.
I finished the dialogues I was working on and started a new event from Gomira's second quest. This part was linked to the ending of the first quest, and upon playing that again, I saw that some things didn't add up. I had already worked a lot on that ending to get the feel of it right, so thinking that I had to go back and work on it again was very demoralizing. I always need to feel like things are moving forward -- even though sometimes going back and fixing things is indeed the moving forward you need (but don't like). Chestnut came to my rescue to help me get it done quickly, and after three longish days, I identified the problems, replanned some parts, rewrote the necessary lines, posed them, and mostly fixed the issue. By the end of this weekend, I should be done with this and move to the next dialogue.

Next week's plan:
Chestnut wants to change things a little, and after finishing the current cutscenes she's working on, draw hands and facial features for our new sprites (I've created many new placeholder images).
I expect I will spend most of the week editing and posing dialogues.

That's all.
Have a great weekend!
Cheers

I like how the update usually appears within a couple of posts of someone complaining about the lack of updates.

They are posted by users, not the devs.

Also, the updates are called weekly, and the complaints about updates are daily, if not hourly.

So... it might just be a perception thing.
