Context matters. He was replying to a comment from a guy who regularly complains about having to wait for years to get Princess Serena's update. But you won't see context if the ones scrapping that message don't want you to see it hisnik2
Yeah that actually seems like a pretty valid complaint and I don't see how that guy is in the wrong here.

I didn't say it was the polite or even the right way to answer. But this guy has never been a patron and is, indeed, a regular complainer.

People asking what's going on get replies explaining what's going on. People complaining about the update taking so long get replies asking them to find something else to do in the meantime, as they are not adding anything meaningful to the discussion: they don't care about reasons given and those messages don't magically speed up process because no matter what the development experts here may say, pressuring devs won't make them work faster and better.
Noone is saying that. We are saying paying them makes them work slower...You know a scam.

if you've been around the art community a while you'll have learned that people can draw extremely quickly,
oh yeah, absolutely. it only takes time when you're still bad, which you can see from the images straight away no matter how much time was used.

like the guy who does "five of a kind" (great game) is clearly struggling and I imagine it takes him loads of time to make even one image. but the images in this game are super consistent, which means she's very good and almost certainly quite fast.

What a disrespect to community.
How people even support that.
I wonder what games have a slower release cycles than this. 2 years for a side chick.

Plus, they've been polishing it for two months, what's up with that?
They are scamming bro. They said that they were not happy with the finalized version, it was not "epic enough", so they are rewriting what they have done.
Aka they did not work on this in the past two years and are starting to do it only now.
From their last update:
Last week Chestnut focused on cutscene variations and more sprite additions from the beginning of the second quest. She wanted to record a video, but the parts she was working on was a bit too spoilery, so that will have to wait.

I reposed/reanimated an event from Gomira's intro that had been bugging me for a while. I had already redone the event in question back when I posed it, actually asking Chestnut to redraw it in a new style, but something about the way I had used Renpy's animation and transformation language to move the bits around just didn't work. It is done now, and I'm happy with it. I also debugged a number of issues with the code which had caused problems with the way looping carousel-like images were being displayed.

We have two weeks until the end of June, and the plan is to have everything in the first quest and at least the intro of the second quest ready for a retest during the first week of July. The first round of editing and debugging is always the most time-consuming one, so based on experience, the second round (and the ones after that) will go faster. There is, of course, the ending of the second quest which I redid recently and which after Chestnut has created the art for it (based on the new cutscenes and sprites additions and all the new placeholder we have created), will require its own retesting and editing and debugging. But we'll get there, and hopefully you'll enjoy the new content.
On the progress tracker they claim they are debugging/testing. But here they are telling a different story: they are basically writing and drawing the update now. They wukk di the first round of editing and debugging on July. Do your math.
But don't worry, since they put the progress tracker at 99,8%, people will believe it!

Thanks, that should be enough, they see that by not releasing they are losing patreons...

From 9000 a month to a little more than 6000. It's something...
6K a month for doing nothing is a lot. They basically got their parental leave paid by patreons. 5000-6000 is still way more than the average salary, even after Patreon's cut. And for an average salary, you know, you have to actually work...

LOL i even forgot the update was about Gomira. Imagine its been two years in development and we get 3 scenes with orc pussy and they call it a day- then another 4 years in development. Its almost laughable how slow these devs are. Like snails with fucking asthma. Are they using an iMac from 2003? That would explain the 6 months wait for bug fixes in a goddamn renpy game. Holy shit dude.

I guess slow and steady wins the race when it comes to scamming your supporters!
Didn't Chestnut and Pistachio get a kid like 1,5 or 2 years ago? I imagine raising a kid will already kill most of your free time. But yea, it sucks that it all takes so long. I will keep huffing that hopium tho that the update is gonna come.

Yes, or at least is what many members already had mention that situation a couple of times even the situation regarding health issues that resulted in the necessity of a surgery for of the devs. Of course, as you sould expect this is still not enough to appease the frustration of many fans and even less the haters.

Hello guys! Please tell us briefly why the development is hanging on 99.8?I'm just curious about what the developers are saying and your opinion on this.

Because they're in the polish phase now. Look at the "Total polish" bar, not the "Total content" bar. "Total content" won't go to 100% until "Total polish" is finished.

Are there any patreon subscribers that can tell us what the progress on the next build looks like?
You don't need to be a patreon subscriber to see the progress. You can see it on their Discord or at

I totally forgot about this game, to find it today and seeing it hasn't been updated since the last time i played it, what is taking them so long, they better be making a good size update otherwise doesn't justify the wait.

It's been explained several times in the thread. It basically boils down to: 1) largest update yet, 2) devs had another child, 3) Pistachio had two hip surgeries and needed time to recover.

As a dev you have a couple of options if something IRL prevents you from doing work on a game that's receiving monthly subscriptions:
  1. Pause automatic transactions until you're able to continue working on the game
  2. Outsource the work to someone else with a revenue split (i.e. 30-70)
  3. Work through it
However, there is no incentive for these two to change their current workflow since they still make more per month than most people in the US. While I'd love to be proven wrong, I have a strong suspicion that this update will be permanently stuck in the "polish" phase since it's easy to just arbitrarily change the numbers to reflect any amount of progress.
