And so it begins. See you in 2027 folks.

Honestly I do believe this will be a lot shorter if only because Holly's story is already halfway done. Every other update so far has been on LI who had no content before hand. And so it begins. See you in 2027 folks.
From their last weekly report, Chestnut has started creating the new characters' sprites they'll be using in this update, while Pistachio has been reworking the code of Celestina's events in Holly's first quest and will start coding this update's sandbox structure. So there's nothing to write just yet. Why are you so salty about it?I know that they manage to pull through, but coding and some art, when they've done zero writing? I am almost certain that whatever got drawn is going get scrapped, because "it does not fit the story as it evolved while writing". Not just these, but the next few drawings will be pointless too, as "huge chunks of the story had to be redone to fit the overall narrative". Too early to say anything, but they surely have this tendency
I'm a pessimist, and I like to be one, when you always expect the worse you never get disappointed, so I can relate when someone chooses to go through that path. Why are you so salty about it?
Reworking is a bad thing as for me. They are cutting out Celestina's mandatory kiss, I don't know if it will improve the story but it will put some fans at ease, that's for sure.Reworking is a bad thing as for me. I doubt it will improve the story.
"Since the game isn’t in active production at the moment—apart from the Captain’s story rewrite—we’ve decided that there’s no immediate need to keep the Patreon open for payments. "How actually honest developers act when their projects has unforeseen events:

You can look at Captain Popcorn and indeed exclaim "what a legend!"
With this game? What a milker!
They should make the game the way they think is right. Not the fans. They are cutting out Celestina's mandatory kiss, I don't know if it will improve the story but it will put some fans at ease, that's for sure.
Because I still remember the polishing phase from the last update. And this is the type of practice that creates the need for so much polish aka redoing stuff. By the time they reach the later phase of development, whatever sprite they drew is very likely going to be obsolete. Wouldn't you rather call it out and prevent it, than letting it happen and defend them when they are taking time doing already done work? Why are you so salty about it?
How are you 'preventing' anything? At most, you are starting the whining cycle based on false assumptions we all grew tired of. The last update can not be taken as a standard cycle due to all the reasons we know. Most of the rework done in the polishing phase affected the earliest content done in that cycle - when their personal circumstances were the worst - and it was basically a storytelling issue, not an art issue. If those circumstances aren't there anymore, there's no real reason to be concerned about 'first drawings going obsolete'. They don't think the way they did those scenes is right anymore. That's what a work in progress means. They should make the game the way they think is right. Not the fans.
I'm unsure if you actually know what a sprite is but I'm going to consider that you know so with that in mind you should understand that any changes or new versions of it required along the way wouldn't demand that much work to be made, since they are basically changes of expression, clothes, physical elements (like an injury, new tattoo, arm movement) so nothing too demanding that needs all time to be done.Whatever sprite they drew is very likely going to be obsolete.
Here's you confirming my "false assumption" in that same reply:At most, you are starting the whining cycle based on false assumptions we all grew tired of
Guess which part of the cycle they're in right now? Hence which artworks they are going to redo this time? Most of the rework done in the polishing phase affected the earliest content done in that cycle.
And the lack of which thing did I say will cause them to scrap the current art?it was basically a storytelling issue, not an art issue
The circumstances are still there: drawing stuff without properly writing the story. Also, the child isn't crawling back into the womb.If those circumstances aren't there anymore, there's no real reason to be concerned about 'first drawings going obsolete'
Damn, if only the devs' moderator was here reading my postsHow are you 'preventing' anything?
Consider this: there is already all the essential sprites for Holly in the game. What they are making right now is going to be for new scenarios. So new outfits, or full drawings in certain setups. Those are very susceptible to change if their current plan with the story get changed. Example: Current drawing is a sex scene in a chicken outfit. But by the time they are done with the story, that scene takes place in lizard island. So they have to redo the drawings with lizard outfit.I'm unsure if you actually know what a sprite is but I'm going to consider that you know so with that in mind you should understand that any changes or new versions of it required along the way wouldn't demand that much work to be made, since they are basically changes of expression, clothes, physical elements (like an injury, new tattoo, arm movement) so nothing too demanding that needs all time to be done.
Funny how you discarded the key point of my sentence: 'when their personal circumstances were the worst'. They didn't rework the early content because it was made first, but because it was poorly made. They just couldn't work properly, and the quality of their production suffered from it, which led to the large rework needed. That's not likely to happen again, if only because now both their children go to school/kindergarten and devs have enough time to work on the game again, fully focused -just as they did during the first updates and in the last months of 0.7. So everything should point at this update having a more or less similar development to those first updates, when polishing phase took just a few weeks and not 7 months. Here's you confirming my "false assumption" in that same reply:

While I am hopeful what happened with the latest update will be a one-time thing, and that this release will pick up the pace they had before, I can understand your concerns.Because I still remember the polishing phase from the last update. While you are right, and everything you just said is correct, it's understandable that people are cautious about emotionally investing in the game again. I understand the delay was due to external reasons outside their control, but the reality is that it strained some people's trust in their schedule. It will take time and a release or two that are timely again for them to build back that trust, and I think that has to be acknowledged. The last update can not be taken as a standard cycle due to all the reasons we know. Most of the rework done in the polishing phase affected the earliest content done in that cycle - when their personal circumstances were the worst - and it was basically a storytelling issue, not an art issue.
If such a dramatic change happens I can only see it as an excuse to delay the update than a simple change of mind. Besides nothing stops them from using the chicken outfit sprite in another way, for context the same happened with Gomira update, (from what I understood the Patreons had a showcase of all the outfits sprites we saw she trying before that undercover quest and they had to pick their favorite to use for the rest of it but in the end we still saw her trying all the other as a way to not let them be “wasted“).Example: Current drawing is a sex scene in a chicken outfit. But by the time they are done with the story, that scene takes place in lizard island. So they have to redo the drawings with lizard outfit.
If you mean the changes in v0.6.03, those were minor things to align themselves with Patreon's new policies. They aged the character one year, made the birthday orgy at the start to be planned with the newer girls in the brothel, and made a couple of tweaks in the texts to ensure consent is unambiguous with Lana and Maple. What are the changes? Which build should i play? The new one or the before changes one? It's been years since i last played this.
