Because I still remember the polishing phase from the last update. And this is the type of practice that creates the need for so much polish aka redoing stuff. By the time they reach the later phase of development, whatever sprite they drew is very likely going to be obsolete. Wouldn't you rather call it out and prevent it, than letting it happen and defend them when they are taking time doing already done work?

While I am hopeful what happened with the latest update will be a one-time thing, and that this release will pick up the pace they had before, I can understand your concerns.

The last update can not be taken as a standard cycle due to all the reasons we know. Most of the rework done in the polishing phase affected the earliest content done in that cycle - when their personal circumstances were the worst - and it was basically a storytelling issue, not an art issue.

While you are right, and everything you just said is correct, it's understandable that people are cautious about emotionally investing in the game again. I understand the delay was due to external reasons outside their control, but the reality is that it strained some people's trust in their schedule. It will take time and a release or two that are timely again for them to build back that trust, and I think that has to be acknowledged.

Example: Current drawing is a sex scene in a chicken outfit. But by the time they are done with the story, that scene takes place in lizard island. So they have to redo the drawings with lizard outfit.

If such a dramatic change happens I can only see it as an excuse to delay the update than a simple change of mind. Besides nothing stops them from using the chicken outfit sprite in another way, for context the same happened with Gomira update, (from what I understood the Patreons had a showcase of all the outfits sprites we saw she trying before that undercover quest and they had to pick their favorite to use for the rest of it but in the end we still saw her trying all the other as a way to not let them be “wasted“).

If you mean the changes in v0.6.03, those were minor things to align themselves with Patreon's new policies. They aged the character one year, made the birthday orgy at the start to be planned with the newer girls in the brothel, and made a couple of tweaks in the texts to ensure consent is unambiguous with Lana and Maple.

If you mean the changes in v0.7, it's a new story arc featuring Gomira, the escaped orc prisoner.

If you mean the changes from v0.7 to v0.7.3, those are mostly bugfixes and corrected typos.

In any case, I'd recommend playing the latest build.

Yeah, that's what honest devs do when they are not developing anything, which was never the case here.

This is going offtopic but from the post you linked it's obvious that almost the whole team have been laid off and the main dev is focusing on creating a brand new story from scratch; and only later, when they are happy enough with the new story, they'll bring some people back again and start the proper game development. In WaL, the game was always under development and the artist were doing her job all along while the writer modified the sections they were not happy with.

There's a clear difference in those situations: one game has returned to the planning phase as it wasn't working at all as intended, while the other was fixing some serious shortcomings in terms of expected quality from certain scenes in an specific update. WaL's devs didn't need to stop and think where they wanted to go with their game as a whole, only how to make that specific character's path more enjoyable.

Not to mention the whole working dynamics are completely different on both teams, with Magicnuts working as a single creative brain despite being two people, while the other project is seemingly using a top-down approach, with one person in charge of the creative area and then a bunch of different writers, coders, and artists coming and going while trying to implement this guy's ideas -therefore, it makes sense for them to pause pledges if none of these people can't actually work on the game until the new story is satisfyingly fleshed out first.

Finally, as it was never denied, being a married couple with a family exclusively living off this Patreon income is obviously a factor when you have to make this kind of choices, compared to the (probably less severe) financial implications of such decision for what seems to be a diverse team ensambled for a project that never really took off as expected. Anyway, kudos to them for pausing pledges and offering some detailed and coherent info about it, and good luck in this rework process.

I hope your right. We should find out quickly enough. They update their tracker fairly regularly so we should get a rough idea of how many tasks per day they average over the next few weeks.

I'm holding off on making progress curve analysis until there's a few weeks of data, as initial data is always very skewed. It's at the beginning that tasks are added more frequently, so that skewes the trend predictions.

I think on top of that, all the Patreon TOS silliness has probably thrown enough of a scare into the Nuts that they'll just avoid ever adding more content for her. The fact that they had to add special dialogue to the existing Maple scene was so utterly ridiculous. If I were a dev I would never want to waste a minute of my time creating art and coding for scenes that I might have to later go back and delete from the game to protect myself from legal or financial risk. It sucks but this is just the reality of H games being made using Patreon money.

Maybe if we're lucky we'll get another "pinup" shot of her from Lambert. That way it's easy to remove if they have to.

If I remember right, someone from a few pages ago posted what could be voted on and Maple was part of the main story updates. So yes in that regard she will most likely not get an update of her own but will most likely get a few scenes as part of the main story progress.

Maple's quest is now part of the main story and she'll get content in 0.9

Patreon has nothing to do on Maple's situation. The only change in her current content is a line where the MC explicitly says he was feeling perfectly OK and fully conscious after eating her magical mushroom, as the previous version stated he wasn't really aware of how he ended up naked (even though it wasn't the intention, it could be seen as if he was under the effects of some kind of drug and therefore not exactly consenting). And the changes in her future content are just a change on how the devs see this character and her potential involvement in the Main Story quest, as explained here. So she's actually being promoted, in a sense, going from just a 100% side girl (her current quest is perfectly optional) to be a 'forced LI' on the main story.
