What are the taboos for making games in prateon now?

Not totally sure. They've allowed games with rape before, but they've also banned games exclusively about rape.
Yeah, sure. Tell that to the dozens (if not hundreds) of Japanese VNs and jRPG posted on steam, where the main plot is that another Princess gets raped throughout the game. And bestiality in these same VNs in all its bizarre forms is as commonplace as a vanilla kiss on the cheek. :KEK:

Again, this seems like a you thing. You seemed to have desensitized yourself.

There's been no mass exodus, where are you getting that from? Patreon is far and away still the best "subscription" based platform for these games. The only other one people actually use is substar, which any dev will tell you is far less popular.
Considering how frequently and indiscriminately you throw the "you're just desensitized lol" argument at folks, I'm gonna go ahead and say you're projecting. It is complete nonsense to assume someone who is into different things than you must be so because of this one reason and nothing else, and I don't really know what else to say to it other than that it's the most ludicrous stance to take on a forum about discussing porn, bar none.

The mass exodus thing comes from me browsing kemono and reading over and over again posts by artists considering moving elsewhere, and all the Subscribestar links that appear in place of Patreon links in OPs, and just people talking about Patreon in general in this very forum as well as on various Discord servers.

Even the people who mostly create Patreon-compatible content frequently have side-interests that very much are not Patreon-compatible, and so either move on to other sites or occupy multiple platforms, with Patreon getting only a limited selection of what they actually have.

I really don't know why you're so adamant on denying all this. It's this normal, expected behavior from any sufficiently large business involving porn, crowdsourcing, and credit card companies. In a few years we'll be having the same discussion about all the stuff Subscribestar is forbidding now and this other, newer fundraising platform everyone is moving to. Just yet another predictable cycle based on how the economy works, rather than anything actually relevant to this nonsensical moral crusade you're on in this forum about discussing nazi furries, rape platformers and tentacle heatpatting or what have you.

You know what, I had this whole thing typed out, but it's really not worth arguing about. I've said my piece and I'm just gonna move on, before we derail this whole thread.

Oh, my god, I really want to play a game with hypnosis and time pause. It seems that I'd better wait first, maybe there will be new changes in the future.

Pretty sure i saw a couple of Japanese games with time stop right here on F95.
And there are always shitton of hypnosis games, most of which are also courtesy of everyone's favorite Japan.
Unless you want two in one deal, then not sure. But probably exists already, at least one somewhere.:coffee:

Sure, no rape makes them prudes, that's definitely true. Like they don't host thousands of porn games. Patreon's rules are basically "Nothing illegal" like incest, beastiality, or glorified depictions of rape. I really don't get why people don't understand that. I have my own problems with patreon, but it's really easy to see why they have these rules.
I think it's easy to understand when mainstream tv allows most of the topics patreon forbids, like incest, rape and abuse stories.

Not going to comment on any of that, but thanks for reminding me to unwatch the thread. (I have a habit of watching threads I participate in because some people don't use the reply button.)

Patreon is dead for porn, then.
I hear that since November 2017, when they started their ban, and the number of creators of adult content (all categories) have been multiplied by four. It also don't prevent creators like , , or , to only name three, to have join after the ban and be among the few lucky guys who earns 5 digits each month.

[...] but the vast majority of porn depends on the "this is so wrong" feeling to work,
By chance, it's only half the adult gaming scene that play to fap.
But anyway, NTR, Corruption and BDSM are perfectly legal on Patreon, and way more interestingly wrong that Rape, Incest, Bestiality and Loli. If one cannot make an interesting game without one of those four content, then he will not effectively be able make a more interesting game with them.
Not Patreon's fault if you are only interested by the cheapest form of porn.

[...] so it's really no wonder there's a mass exodus to other sites.
Sources ?

Even the comparatively fewer creators who can survive on Patreon are better off migrating as well, since most creators being elsewhere equals most customer attention being elsewhere too.
And what is "elsewhere" exactly ?
itch.io have always been used in parallel to Patreon. Steam have blurry rules ; you must comply to their rules, but they'll not explain you what they are. As for subscribeStar, it's looks too shady for most players, and therefore they'll never use it. Crowfunding platform can also be used, but if you aren't known beforehand the chance of success are too low.

I mean, there is a forced exodus to other sites, I saw that they banned more than 20 devs on the past month, some that were on patreon for years. And something changed, before they would send you a email asking for deletion of violating content, but now they are just deleting your page with no warning.

the reason why it changed I think is because payment processor are flagging patreon as a porn site and are declining payments for multiple people, so maybe patreon is culling the small ones over any small violation unlike they did before? Summertime saga started with the landlady stuff and is still up...

This claim is populist and cannot be confirmed. Neither you nor I have such statistics. And the fact that patreon is still a monopoly among other platforms due to monopoly collusion with PayPal dont confirm your statement that substar looks dubious for the majority of players. Patreon has its own audience, Subscribestar has its own.

Substar is quite successful and relevant platform for those devs who make interesting non-taboo games that can interest the audience and for those non-vanilla players who in exchange for this are willing to sacrifice some of the convenience of patreon subscription and support the game on substar. Here, as an example, is the of one of the well-known devs on this forum. $8,335 income for the current month. Pretty good for a game(s) distributed through a supposedly "too shady" platform, right?

What can't be confirmed ?

That SubscribeStar is owned by a none US citizen living in a country that will never comply to any decision made by the US justice ? [ ]
That SubscribeStar mailbox is currently managed by a Company that have hosted, and continue to host, many scam companies ? [ ]
That both , and that is was due to SubscribeStar active support to ?
That Far Right and White Supremacist accounts are the main source of income for SubscribeStar ? [ ]
That SubscribeStar will validate your creator account only after you've promoted them ? [for the sources just search here]
That SubscribeStar will answer to your question, or not, depending on whatever will they can have ? [for the sources just search here]

Or is it that all this put together discourage a lot of people to put their feet on that site, especially since it will have to manage a part of their money transactions ?

Good for him, but I fail to see where it change anything I said... Especially since you define him as "extremely successful". What is "extreme" in having 9 times less patrons than , while earning 10 times less than ?
Of course, they both are exception, but so is Blackheart.

I don't really care much about the political processes with the US and I don't live in this country. So all of the above is not an argument to me at all that substar is a shady site.

The success of the BlackHeart is not that it is not financially outperforming the two rubbish games (imo) you gave as an example, but that his page disproves your claim that the substar is being ignored by users. Even if we turn to SEO analytics, we can see that in the last month alone, substar was visited by half a million unique visitors. Its obvious that those developers who need complete freedom in creativity, impartiality and absence of bans, choose subscribestar or other platforms that compare favourably with Patreon. And with more bans, this trend will only increase.

P.S. I am not interested in further discussions with you, so I have added you to my blacklist. Bye.

What is political in the fact that SubescribeStar is a company that only exist on paper, having neither premises nor employees ? What is political in the fact that the only person accountable for the company, because only person known as being related to the company, reside out of reach of the jurisdiction his company depend on ?

It's one of the reason why SubscribeStar is shady. It's a company that stand outside of all legal responsibility.
The owner, and only person working for the company, can do whatever he want, selling everything he have regarding his users, disappearing with the money, lying about the effective pledge and keeping a part of the money for himself, absolutely whatever he want, he his out of all legal reach. The US justice can only goes after the company, that is nothing more than a piece of paper, while the justice of his country would just say that it's not their concern since the company is outside of the country.

Even if we turn to SEO analytics, we can see that in the last month alone, substar was visited by half a million unique visitors.
And I'm supposed to react how exactly ?

Do you have an idea how ridiculously small half a million visits (and not unique visitors like you claim) is for a website that have an international vocation and stand on a competitive market ?

I mean, yeah, of course, last month ... I could compare it with , but there's more interesting to do. Half a million visits is more or less what F95Zone had every 10 hours last month. Even F95zone.com, that is the old domain name and still redirect here, ; I mean, the domain isn't used as primary one, nor advertised, since something like 5 years... And I don't talk about , that have a ridiculously low number of visits even in comparison to the main site.

Of course, the numbers are not as accurate as one may think, but like they come from the same source, the margin error is relatively stable. What is enough to confirm what I was saying, SubscribeStar is far to be something popular and is in fact really marginal.

P.S. I am not interested in further discussions with you, so I have added you to my blacklist. Bye.
Oh, poor me... What am I saying, I don't care a single second that you want to stay an idiot who believe in bullshit.

Although you are not allowed to insert words, I think many games can still use your mouth.
So this standard is still a bit interesting.

Patreon are better than SS when it comes to getting support. Simply because it's a much larger and better known platform.

Even if they do have rules people dislike. Those rules are pretty simple and not hard to get around. If you put some effort into making a good patch and don't do anything dumb you'll be fine.

It's also hard to get a SS account if you do not have a following to prove yourself to them. Sometimes people have to wait weeks or even months to hear back when they apply.

That said, if possible, you should have both. It's common sense to not have all your eggs in one basket. If Patreon one day decides to ban NSFW content, you need a backup plan.

If one goes down, you always have the other.
