or is it because summertime saga had to change a lot of stuff? like removing incest. and a "rape" scene that was removed 5 years ago (i'm trusting the count on this). milfy city also had to change things to please patreon, to mention another big game
It's the thing, when Patreon started its ban, they didn't banned everyone, but offered them the possibility to discuss what is possible and what isn't, and therefore how to change the game for it to comply with the new rules.
They were sometimes strict, like with Mr.Dots that had to submit the script of his new game for prior approbation, but in the same time indulgent since they let him continue
Dating my Daughter openly as a incest story, as long as there's no direct links with Patreon.
There's two long threads about this somewhere in the depth of the forum, with some of those devs unofficially sharing most step of the discussion.
big devs might get some leeway to be in talks with patreon to change stuff instead of just removing the page right off the bat.
Not just big devs. No one have ever had his page removed right of the bat. And I mean absolutely no one.
There isn't a single example of a dev loosing his account because he had banned content, excepted those who categorically refused to remove the said content. In the opposite, there's example of creators who've been hit more than once by the ban hammer, and just had to apology and remove the litigious content to have their account stop being under review.
What's funny is that those who complained surely thought that it would draw attention to them, and therefore give them more support ; they are rebels, internet love rebels. But in the end one month later everyone already forgot their names. But the bullshit they served, that some still remember it, alas.
it's possible some special treatment occurs... patreon wants to earn money. but being big does not mean free to do what they want.
There's only one treatment: What they aren't warned about do not exist.
Jack Conte (Patreon funder and CEO) said it more than once, what he want is to offer a way to have support for the higher possible number of creators.
Patreon have been forced to change the rules because they discarded complaints about some litigious content. Now they react to all complaint regarding banned content, period.
But strictly speaking, as long as no one complain, there's no risk that their partners goes after them, so...
