What game do you consider a masterpiece? (Choose only one)

Damn..
That's hard to choose..
Asked me 6 months ago and i would have said Research in Corruption by @Boomatica ,but since that game is on a slow develop rate it kinda fell of my radar at this point..

And there are many, many games that were onto the right track to becoming a masterpiece but got canned due to bad developing decisions or changed their game so much that there is almost nothing original left anymore (A lot of the more populair games)..
And a couple games that are still on the track to becoming something special but are not there yet.

And of course there are a couple games that a really enjoy to play from time to time because they are quick, fun and crazy but by no means at all a masterpiece..

I guess if i had to choose 1 game that is finished and on my hard drive and that i consider on of the best i had to say..

My favorite adult game is absolutely Tesliss Equation (GoblinBoy). The detail and plot development in that game blew my mind.

Favorite AAA title - Mass Effect, maybe? There's a lot more brilliance in the broader, better funded market.

I don't really have masterpiece choices but if I did it'd be multiple. Depraved Awakenings, Good Girl Gone Bad, Babysitter and Dating My Daughter.

For actual games and such, GTA, Mass Effect and Skyrim.

For a non adult game, I would vote for "Star Wars - Knights of Old Republic Online". I played for years and I always come back to try new things, explore unknown maps, try new classes and new stories. I love the feeling of taking a ship and traveling new planets, new landscapes, meeting new people and monsters, doing new adventures. The possibility to date one of my partners was very good. The ingame mails you receive from NPCs you met throughout the story is a very nice thing, adding a deep conception about the plot.

Now, for an adult game, I really loved the progressive sexual tension in Witch Trainer took pace, from Akabur. The way the author wrote the character (Hermione) was very precise in comparison to the original and the way he presented Snape was very charismatic. His art is very good and some animations were very nice. I know the game seems to have unfinished features, such as the Phoenix's part and Akabur sounded lazy in exploring other characters, but the feeling of playing the game was unmatched even today.

as for normal games ... Final Fantasy X with FF7 and Skyrim as runner ups
havent played the newer FF games yet so cant comment on those

crystalline. I really enjoyed the characters. It's more a romance game. If you want porn games i really enjoy roundscape, TiTs, corruption of champions, cursed lands and defiler wings. (i actually like defiler wings more for building an unstopable dragon than the sex scenes)

The "Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai games"... Some of the best visual novels / games i've ever played... Beautiful CG´s, compelling stories, a fuckton of choices and paths... Wonderful voice actors, really fun and interesting characters, lots of girls to chose, some mans too... Is really worth the trouble of making it work on your computer haha, totally recommended

I really have not experienced even the slightest interest in playing a Japanese eroge here. I have played one or two in the past, but I think the art style just puts me off now for some reason.
I think Milfy City is a partial masterpiece in terms of the artwork. The character skin textures and designs are outstanding.
Summertime Saga is probably the best sandbox game I've seen, and the devs are going to the trouble of creating a story for each character and location.

So, uh, I dunno if I've ever played a really masterful adult game. I've played a few with exceptional artwork. I've played some that had an unbelievable amount of content. I've played some that were really good at being porn. I've even played some that actually made me care about the characters. But, uh, I haven't played one that did all of it right to the point where I'd call it a masterpiece. I mean, a masterpiece doesn't need everything that I mentioned, but it should be a game that thunders to the top of the pile. Even games that I really enjoyed I'd be hesitant to call masterpieces.

(As far as non-adult games, I'm going to be the guy that says Undertale. It managed to be fresh, fun, genuinely funny, and even surprising, and this for a gamer who's played everything
AND it was made largely by one guy
AND it managed to live up to more hype than a proximately-released Hideo Kojima game
AND okay yeah it's kinda furry-manchild bait with its extremely motherly goat anthro character but still
AND it caused that huge gamefaqs best game ever poll upset (in more than one meaning of upset)
AND the main developer can tell his fans "no" and they still love him
AND even the Japanese generate porn of it. Seriously what was the last Western-developed indie game that generated porn manga? I mean there probably are others, but I don't think I've played them.

and if you abbreviate game of all time you end up with goat, so yeah.)

I didn't want to do it because I hate blowing smoke especially when it's a dev I get along with quite openly but I will have to give this to Notty and Heavy Five.

I've played games I love, i've played games that are amazing but it isn't often I see a game focus so much on little details that may or may not be important further down the line.

When a 0.1 release has a group of people reply it several times over because we kept missing bits you know that by the end it will be a winner. All actions have consequences, sure you can be the bad guy but push it too far and one of the girls may shoot you. It was an extreme but it was an early example of what could happen if we go too far.

There are so many possiblilities, but I guess I would have to go with the first Mass Effect. Strictly from a story telling perspective. Brilliant piece of work - I think.

Adult games would be either anything from GoblinBoy or Tlaero. Love their story telling and can't really pinpoint a specific game of theirs ... Meteor perhaps from GoblinBoy or the whole "dreaming with Elsa" series. Damn, this is difficult.

I'll just let this be as is and stop myself from turning this into a rant of some sort.

Hands down. This game became my top favourite almost instantly after mere one chapter. That's pretty much unbeatable.

Superb writing, deep characters with unique personalities and motivations, choices that matter, optionality, intriguing story, background lore, beautiful renders, replayability, immersion... I could go on and on.

Truly a masterpiece, for it's everything I've been looking for ever since I popped up here.

Hoping Cyberpunk 2077 will be the next masterpiece In line with Witcher 3 Hopefully next Mass Effect.

As for adult games, It's like comparing apples and oranges. Has anyone done a AAA adult game yet? Not really. AA at best. It would take a lot of adult developers to get together to make a AAA game with a real game engine and real 3D animators like a real game. We are not there yet.

I wouldn't call any Game in that Genre a Masterpiece. A Masterpiece is something like KotOR, Dragon Age: Origins or The Witcher 3!

There are some pretty well written and polished Games like Acting Lessions or Depraved Awakening, but there are anything but Masterpieces.
