VN Ren'Py Where It All Began [S1 Ch.4 Fix 1 Steam] [Oceanlab]

So I downloaded the game and was ready to play all over again from the start. Then I remembered he removed the incest from SG, which wasn’t a big deal for me since it only concerned one character. But if he removed incest here… what’s the plot?

If I remember correctly, the whole plot is him leaving home because of his sister, then returning for his mom, and the rest of the story is all based on that and the interactions with the family. If you remove that, what’s the story?

Now my question is, did he come up with a new interesting plot to replace that, or did it all go to shit? Because I don’t know if I should play this again or if I’ll just be wasting my time.

It's jokingly referred to as "mafia reasons" now. Like he was breaking some kind of rule with his relationship with Leia even though they aren't biologically or legally related. Chapter 4 explains it...not well but it's text on a page I guess.

No, he's not related anymore. Description hasn't been updated since Chapter 4 released. It changed a lot of things.

It no longer references Leia as MC's twin sister, that was in previous releases. Or you're playing with an outdated patch/mod.

Ok, now it makes sense as to why it is confusing. Is there a copy of the original? (I have the GOG version), but I don't use GOG to play.. running Linux and set it up to play the game direct.

Wouldn't the game be smoother if the changes weren't made? Is that what the "Lewd" mod is?

That is quite fitting, the story (and in essence the game) is also obsolete now.

Why do dev's do this lol guess it's time to unwatch and move on to other games were devs have more of a backbone. Come on talk about shooting yourself in the foot this dev put the barrel in his mouth and pulled the trigger

There's a copy of the original version in the OP but that's before even the first rework and is basically a different game.

Not sure if there's a copy of the current version without chapter 4 around.

It's always been a messy story but sure, the story makes more sense if Leia and William are related. Unless Ocean changes his mind and reworks the story again, this is what we're stuck with. I don't use any mods with it other than URM so not sure what any of the mods here would do.

I was going by what descriptions I could find through an internet search. GOG itself doesn't say anything helpful, except something about mafia and it's about a crime family.

Fitting analogy. Maybe Ocean wants to terminate WIAB, but needs an excuse for himself. "The players abandoned the game" sounds better than admitting to yourself you made a complete abyssal update.

Waited 18 months just to finish it in 6-7 hours.. It's like preparing a meal for yourself for 2 hours and eating it under 5 minutes... Except I didn't prepare the update, Ocean did. And what a great update he made.

Living in his universe, involving myself into its characters lives makes me so happy.

Apologies, but it is the GOG version, not STEAM, not that it makes a difference.
If there is a game I want, I always go to GOG first, and if I can't find it, I grudgingly go to STEAM, lol.
I personally don't like STEAM because they force a "call home" on 99.9% of their games, plus at least 1 of the games I have is several chapters behind (Artemis), and it appears that it won't be updated.

(Oh, a side-note, sometimes the English is a bit off, and I actually have to look it up on the internet. There are some words that actually don't match up, as intended to. Lots of mistakes jumping between British English and American English too.)

I will stick with the most updated version since the old version wouldn't have an ending to go with the story, unfortunately.
