Thanks man, really, this is a great example! It just perfectly shows the difference between Ocean and your wishes. He doesn't need fancy charts to release updates. I don't know if you noticed, but both versions of the game you're talking about - the pre-rework and the current one - have been
abandoned.
Yeah, Ocean is inaccurate as hell in his estimates, and he doesn't even want to reveal information about the progress anymore until he's sure his plans are feasible. But he gets the job done and he delivers the content. He can be overly ambitious in his plans and ideas and scrap some things out later. But he moves the both projects forward and implements most of the features he writes about (and, btw, he reports be-weekly with rare exceptions).
At the same time, many projects that seemed well-organized, well-designed, and had great progress charts have long been abandoned. In the five years that Ocean has been making games, the zone is littered with the corpses of "promising" and "high potential" masterpieces. Thanks for showing me yet another example of what I've known for a long time.
