You are talking about incest and had that image underlined about "incest" for SS (lets be real SS doesn't care).
Incest, the game is coming to Steam, hence Valve/Steam does not care about said content. So, that content doesn't need changed/removed for Steam. It is what many devs do when it comes to Steam, it will be different vs Patreon. Some Steam versions just have it by default or pre-patched.
Steam only cares about underage content, sex in school, and copyrighted works in said game.

Steam sales are only a small fraction of money compared to Patreon and Subscribestar, though. That's a big income loss.

You are right, with your points about steam. Steam/Valve doesn't care for this kind of contend - for now.
I agree with you on everything, but:
SubscribeStar doesn't care either, that's also right - for now. But it's a fact that IC content is prohibited on SS at the moment.
And just because SS is not currently enforcing these rules, perhaps because there are things that are more important/urgent than this, does not mean that SS will not decide to enforce the rules to the letter in the near future - or be forced to do so.
We have to keep in mind that Ocean is full time dev, and the nuked WIAB patreon has pulled a big hole into his finances because only a fraction of his patreons have immigrated to SS.
Ocean was burned in the past because of this stuff with this game, so - at least I - can understand why he is extremely cautious what he is posting.

He doesn't make much on Wiab anyway. Especially after the Patreon pull. The problem is that with SG being tied to Wiab, he has to make sure incest doesn't spill over with the characters or plots that appear. If any charcters in sg are the children of wiab characters, they can't be a product of incest. Also incest relations between wiab characters that appear would have to not be mentioned.
Playing relation acrobatic games is pretty useless at this point for Wiab unless SS is still a worry.

Unfortunately this is the time we live in, a lot of Devs have dropped like flies for similar reasons.
I wouldn't say it benefited the story to begin with, since the story is a fucking mess that most people have made up headcanon to fill in the blanks for. Hollywood isn't doing stupid shit right now to try to make a profit, they've been telling fans that if they don't like it, don't watch it and then freaking out when no one watches it. You were right.. 10yrs ago. Now they think their Twitter circle jerk and the media Yesmen are big enough to justify a movie that costs $400mil before marketing. And AAA gaming has that same problem. They've insulated themselves from their customers and think their revenue just magically appears in their bank accounts.
Hell, I see some idiots on this website telling little one man indy devs they should be behaving in that same manner. Or telling the dev their justification for not supporting the game is invalid bc they don't the support the game. Just look at the entertainment industry. If you think not listening to your potential customers is smart, you deserve to be sleeping in a cardboard box. When people are vocal and supporters are trickling out the door, people still care. When people stop complaining, when they stop caring enough to even bitch, there's no getting them back. You and your product have been replaced in their minds.

Really, with Ocean's stuff, I throw logic to the wind. The characters and interactions are what keep me coming. Ocean generates mood better than almost anyone.
