It would be wonderful if somebody could do this and post links to the multi-part, enabling people like me with slow internet and a free MEGA account, to enjoy the game and maybe subscribe to the developer afterward.

Weird. I have a free MEGA account and I've been using MEGASync for as long as I have that account, but I never had any problems downloading larger-than 5GB files with it. I can even put my computer to sleep or restart it and the download just continues from where it was paused by the sleep or shutdown or MEGA download limit after the download limit resets itself.

I've been also able to bypass the limit by switching my IP address (using a VPN tunnel) after MEGASync hits the daily limit. Download simply continues while showing the "you have reached the 5GB limit" message and showing a red X as the status icon.

It sounds as if there's something specifically "weird" at your end.

Splitting a file into less than 5GB parts wouldn't affect the download limit, though... Unless you are trying to beat the limit by using different devices (not days as you typed) to download parts simultaneously or something. That's something I haven't tried and have no idea if this would work.

I think there's a download manager that can download MEGA files and beat the limit regardless, without switching IP-addresses or anything. It's been mentioned in various threads, but I don't remember how it's called.

If I were Ocean, as a businessman form the financial PoV, I would have pulled the plug on this game a long time ago, simply because it doesn't justify the time spent on it for the little income it generates. At least is this my impression, from the calculations I have done with the poor data that are public available. Only on SS I'm able to get relatively good numbers what is coming in. I will not take into account things like job rotation or other stuff that prevents someone from going insane.

A man struck by a forbidden love, who supressed it, fled for 7 years and found a new love, only to return to the family he abandoned after a phone call from the illicit crush.

Now, a pawn of the Mafia who abandons another pawn he falls in love with, leaving her to be used by the Family that killed both their parents, returns after the head of said Family gets an "ouchie". Now he has to face punishment for leaving, where the most horrifying outcome to William is... a return to exile.

I have to really fight the intrusive thoughts on this. Sometimes when people are dissecting the hell out of a VN I just wanna be like...what do you play? What's a good example of something you like so I can immediately point out the 42 trillion flaws it has? AVNs are in general, flawed. The writers are either inexperienced or just...not great with some rare exceptions.

This isn't a a defense of Ocean. WiaB is messy and I'll continue to call it messy until we reach a point where the mess is cleaned up. That said, we've got something. Given how the steam reviews look I'd call it successful so far. Hopefully he can build off of that.

This update is the closest I've seen to Ocean positioning the story where it can make sense. It's not consistent right now, there's still work to do.

Well yeah, people with money who pay for things seem to be more positive than pirates. Correlation vs causation? Spaghetti monster's italian. I'm just glad WiaB's got a future instead of a dead end in a ditch.

I will try to keep short as I feel this topic was already beat to death. Now you either accept or move on. I do agree quite alot with you and Yossa too, the change is not the end of the world and does not make the story more or less cohesive, Ocean games always suffered from this problems. I am however worried, that maybe Ocean can't pull that off, is not a minor thing and he changed as much or more of the story that we don't have seen than that of the story we have seen, and if the changes beyond was handeling as well as Ch1-Ch3, I am worried that the story will never fit together as it should.

This only time will tell. I am hoping for the best, there are choices Ocean made that I can't quite understand yet. With out a rewritting of some scenes the first chapthers will always feel a little off. I still think the story can work and work greatly, but given by this update I am a little less sure that Ocean will pull that off. I just hope I am dead wrong.

Optional you can it make ambivalent for the i-fans, with some hints, but there is no need. This is a functioning backstory, vastly more coherent than anything we got from Ocean in all these years. And I threw it together on the fly. A coherent story is no witch´s work.

There is a difference between a story presenting questions and withholding answers until the time is right and a story contradicting itself multiple times in a single update. Just in chapter 4. You can double that number when you factor in contradictions with chapters 1-3. It's not like this story had a year and a half to sort itself out...oh wait.

It's honestly endearing that after 7 years of this, you still believe Ocean can write himself out of a wet paper bag. With both games in the state that they're at Well...maybe endearing is not the word I'm looking for.

Like I told yossa, you do you. Just don't expect me to turn my brain off and pretend any of this shit is the slightest bit coherent.

Reminder that even though I never liked WiAB very much, I called this game solid, borderline good after the rework. I called it better than SG at that moment. I take it all back after ch4. "Simply background" still results in the game getting banned at some point. If an author chooses not to be banned, then what can you do? Suggesting they do the very thing that gets the banned, and already got them banned?

Consider that the i-theme was only a hinted background, and was only inference based on porn logic via the official release of the rework - was there even a kiss? Still got banned. So your idea doesn't fly, it doesn't get off the ground.

A functioning backstory with a coherent mafia is also easy to make. Currently the problem isn't the genre/style/theme of the backstory, but the coherence. It's simply not told convincingly enough for you to accept. I'm suspending my disbelief to see what happens.

Things that can be added without changes that will paint a bigger picture:
- more dominos that led to William fleeing, because not every domino needs to be based on a relationship.
- details of what he said to Helen on the phone from incarceration, and what she said when she visited.
- flashbacks with moody William remembering things he did or said in anger.

There's plenty of scope for fleshing out the details. The current writing (as I've repeatedly said) should be polished, because there are very obvious moments where Ocean might as well have had Willi break the fourth wall and say "Hey SS, nothing to see here, go judge some other AVN."

But it's better than the raccoon in the clothing store, futa Helen, and less stitched on than the crime plot was in the original, less stitched on than the camping trip exposition.

Yeah, cool, but Ocean isn't boycotting patreon and has a vested interest in not boycotting it. Patreon boycotted WiaB. So, full circle. You rooting for free speech doesn't equate to Ocean's willingness to continue that fight. And, he might genuinely be tired of hiding what he writes from his family and friends. It's cool having free speech when you're anonymous, but I don't see anyone on this forum using their real names and doxxing themselves. Patreon undoubtably has a nice collection of personal details on every AVN dev, as does SS. The payments leave trails. Eventually it's just a question of how big anyone feels standing up in public with their free speech.
