I finally had the opportunity to play through the game. I don't know why many here have a problem. The mafia aspect didn't come as a surprise if you paid attention to the story beforehand. Some form of organized crime was there the whole time. Now it's just “the mafia”. The best thing, however, is that all the incest bullshit is finally gone. Nevertheless, it has to be said that Ocean is fantastic at creating graphics, but when it comes to storytelling it remains mediocre at best.

Well clearly you haven't been paying attention to the story. The incest part was one of the key parts to the backstory of WiaB. William had sex with his sister, Leia, and ran away. Taking away the incest, there's just no reason for William to run away like that.

Plus, I've asked on the Subreddit. William is still a Zane, and is related to Leia but Ocean can't officially put that in his game due to Steam and other restrictions (which I think he should just ignore and stop changing the story, displeasing the fans, to appease Steam and whatnot).

Then please, O Wise One, explain to me why William left, which is one of the key points of the story (since this story is about his return and seeing how things have changed back home)? Please tell me why there is an underlying tension with his "family" members. It's clear that incest is the main part of the game and one of the main driving factors behind the backstory and current relationships. Now Ocean is trying to remove it and what we're left with is a shoddy attempt of trying to fill a plot hole.

It's like if George RR Martin decided that "Oh, Jaime and Cersei aren't actually biologically related; they were just adopted into the Lannister Family". The whole of ASOIAF (Game of Thrones) would make no sense because their relationship is what started the story, with Bran being knocked out of the window, Cersei killing Rob Baratheon and Ned Stark to continue and hide her relationship with her brother... And all of the rest of the events of ASOIAF

Have to agree with Oasis951 , that you seemingly did not pay any attention to the storylines before. That part of the Zane family had some shady dealings, yes, but it was always a given fact that the legal business of the whole family outsized the semi- and illegal business by a huge margin. Not this mustache-twirling bunch of flat sharers and hardcore criminals he made them now. Utter BS and destroys the characters.
The incest part of Willi/Leia, which was never that big anyway, but a core part of the backstory and part why Willi and Miru finally travel to Wollust. The Willi from the new update has ZERO reasons to ever return and more, has every incentive to leave this sinkhole he once called home behind forever.

Ocean seems to mix up his excuses for brownnosing Patreon to keep SG safe. Steam has, is and continues to give a flying fuck if incest is present in the games they sell. Hell, if the devs take care to not be blatant about it, even some well selling games and VHs have it in them. There is a popular VN series with great, but comparatively harmless pics, the text shows clearly that one possible LI is your sister and there is a full love path for her.

As someone who discovered SG first, I've just finished this update. I can feel that the heart of the game was basically ripped out alongside the incest - I personally don't care that much for it but what really damages the game is the convoluted mafia family-rule nonsense. It could have worked as a fresh new game with a more coherent script but because of the rewriting it feels very disjointed. Just seems like someone tried really hard with an eraser to get rid of a certain part of a drawing, but then used a different coloured marker to draw the new part in. Maybe this new story will actually end up being better but with how long it takes, will we ever know? There are some intriguing potential plotlines but William is still getting introduced to new things and people 4 chapters in, with many more to still come. It's just moving extremely slowly.

With that being said, the renders are obviously the best out of any AVN along with the music. Ocean definitely shines in characters and the interactions between them. I don't think there are many better than him at that. But these long update waits for both games aren't feasible long term. I saw that he mentioned at the end of the update that WIAB is in the red, my prediction is it probably won't make it past Season 1 - if he tries to continue this dual development cycle.

Now that the incest is gone though, can't Ocean open up patreon for the game again?

But I do know that Ocean does not want any mention of incest in his subreddit despite the facts that his games did hint at it, which is just strange and bizarre. I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed the scenes with Katie, but with a bit of a bittersweet taste since my favorite part is the character and her dynamics.

Dunno, I enjoyed the most scenes, Katie, Kata, Zoey, Gina - they all were entertainable. Didn't like much Leia's, got tired of this post-roomies aftertaste of the story. Miru, very nice but too clingy. Ni is awesome and her new chubby look has grown on me.
Heck, even Taylor was cute. Now dynamics between the characters makes sense to me and have value as standalone story, before I could only tolerate WiAB as a big bonus episode of SG.

If, when, maybe, these conjunctives are your whole argument. For over twenty years Steam did nothing about incest content and it does not look likely they will in the near future. Will they change their stance sometime in the further future? Maybe, but that is not set in stone at all. It is equally likely that 10 years from now Steam has not changed it´s stance the firm had for decades.
What is also a point is that WIAB is seven years old and due to some arbitrary perfectionism of Ocean (the music saga for a porn game alone is a headscratcher) the game is still in the early third. There are one person "team"developers which put out quality games in that timespan! The game could already get in money without any worry about a today only hypothetical change of steam´s position in the future.

Alright then, I'm all caught up.

Maybe its because I came from oldWiaB to the current newWiaB build, and never played the earlier ch1-3 builds of newWiaB...but I think its fine. Yeah, its got some weirdness in the script, but I think it works as a whole. I've basically got four points that make the script a little schizo.

1. Like I mentioned earlier, William's seeming ignorance towards his adopted family being involved with crime but also clearly being fully aware they're a mob family. Weird disconnect.

2. I really don't get what was so bad about Leia and William diddling each other, that William felt he had to run away because Katie threatened to make it public. Made sense when they were siblings, and incest bad. But they're from two different families, and two families who have been completely wiped out. And are hated. I imagine Ocean has some revelation in the works regarding that, but still... its really stupid right now.

3. Everyone treating William like he shat in Helen's mouth and raped her six times while beating her bloody with a spiked dildo is so fucking dumb. Yeah, he ran away. Big whoop. He was a kid, not a gangster, not a made man, not working for the family, or the heir to the Zanes. This is the one sticking point I really hate. Leia hating him, I understand. Her reaction to being abandoned was extreme, and that fosters a ton of negative emotion thats hard to shed. Fair enough. Katie, I get as well. The siblings bullied her, and she fucked with them. It was a love-hate relationship with a ton of hate. Maybe more will get revealed later, but as it stands, everyone else has no right to blame William for any of their hardships after he left. And the "but muh mafia rules" stuff is fucking retarded when he was just a kid.

4. Helen knew William was in prison, went to see him, and seemingly left him there without informing anyone. What the actual fuck, man. I get she was hurt he just ran away and it was only a month later, so the scar was still fresh and hurting. But christ. What a bitch. And the nerve to behave the way she's been doing after he came back now. Helen deserved the rock to the head.

1, I can give a pass with rework funkiness. Fine. William is just a retard. Par for the course with AVN MCs.
I can give 4 a bit of a pass, because going back to the person who brought you up even if they abused you and treated you like shit is not all that uncommon. Parental attachment is a hell of a drug and hard to kick, even when it goes against all common sense.
2 is more egregious because it really makes zero sense and its the literal lynchpin of why everyone treats William the way they do.
3 is the big stinker for me, because I feel like everyone's reaction to William leaving is way too harsh. They're all cunts.

Last two points:
First. That redhead agent at the end? COMPLETE FUCKING RETARD JESUS CHRIST HOLY SHIT LADY. You use your federal investigative powers into a chick, find out that you literally are unable to find any information on her other than a string of aliases and your reaction is "yeah, she's a nobody, not gonna be a problem". HOLY GOD IN HEAVEN. I hope you get a ninja blade in you calf just for being this stupid.

Second. Agent Rita is hot as fuck. I'll totally make a second save to bang her if we get the option.

All in all... 7/10, would play again. Other than the four kinks mentioned above, I'm really digging the story. There's fat asses and tiddies everywhere. Miru solo path continues to be nice. I like William being a cheeky retard. Its fun.


P.S. Where the fuck is the actual "family" of the Zanes? Where are their thugs and mooks? Their hired hands and what not. Its just been Leia sending her crew to watch over them, and she is explicitly doing her own thing. Its like Ocean forgot mob families need underlings who do the actual dirty work and day-to-day mob work.

Patreon never gave a care of what was on their site even though it was against their TOS until they received complaint from both Paypal and Mastercard threatening to leave if Patreon didn't comply. (And subscribestar might go the same way soonish).

Now unless there are some legal threat against Steam hosting those(which is still a possibility in the future), they won't give a flying fuck.

Quite correct and more, Steam is a big fish in the gaming scene and far less wedded to a single money processor as Patreon is. If Paypal or other creditcard firms tell Patreon to jump, they have to comply sooner or later, because they have no other substantial payment options.
Steam for all their obvious faults has a multitude of payment options, a single provider option simply has not the pull to force Steam like they can Patreon or SS. Steam only fears various government regulations and public backlash.
