Sadly in many cases on these threads, often the critique given is not really constructive, that dev could use or give suitable responses, but rather just pointless negative bitching and moaning. And it gets taxing to read just constant negativity for your product, especially on a forum that is pirate forum and only minority there actually pays for your stuff.
Not saying that is true for all critique in here, but i've witnessed the pointless kind of bitching and moaning more often than actually useful critique. So it's not a surprise that some devs end up abandoning this place, or limit the amount of interaction here.

I finished the chapter and I have a rhetorical question: how many renders, excuse me, does he make there per day? No, really. One full scene, several pieces with a rating of 12+ and... that's it. A couple of hours if you read the text.

No, what we have looks good. But I’m not ready to wait a year for a set of slides that takes two hours to complete, with the next “to be continued.” With an almost complete absence of thematic content. Moreover, the desire to pay for it has disappeared. What I saw is literally not worth the price and hasn't been made for that long.

And now I'm almost sure that the update to the second game, which I was looking forward to the most, will be no less mediocre. If at all it will come out before I grow old into a vegetable.

I would like to write “unsubscribe” so that this would at least teach him something, but we don’t pay for samples here anyway, so it’s not entirely appropriate. But I REALLY want to.
SEVEN years after the first post, and he still feeds people with sketches that “just about, almost, well, now for sure, at the end of this dialogue” but no, wait another year. What a f&ck up.

His story about "not harming another game" is bullshit from the very beginning. On the most official platforms, such as Steam, there are tons of games in which there is much more nudity, incest, and even drugs (I condemn). And I don’t remember that other resources, like the one under the spoiler, would do the same thing as Patreon. My condolences to the subscribers.
Maybe then our dude should make a game without the "ADULT" prefix? Just a novella. Then I'll happily shove my questions up my ass and maybe even buy it.

Wrong. They use Zane as a last name, which is used publicly. Their "new" last names are used as middle names, William Grimaldi Zane for example. That is explained in the game. It's stupid, but really mostly consistent, sort of.

William's name is William Grimaldi. His parents were killed at some point and the Zane family took him in as a tribute but didn't adopt him. He's allowed to use the Zane last name in public but he's not biologically related or legally adopted by them.

TLDR: A convoluted way to dodge incest.

I'll be honest this update is one of the worst I've seen. Graphics wise it's so beautiful, but story wise it got completely turned over and fell flat. My biggest gripes with it is not that he changed the relationship to exit the incest.

It's how he thought that he had to shoehorn a whole mafia story into it to make it "interesting". I don't know what kind of thought process he went into to think that he had to replace those forbidden "what if" that were really endearing to a full on murder, drugs, borderline psychopath family.

I mean Helen litteraly went from being this motherly caring strong woman that went through deep shock when her son (her favorite based on in-game dialogue) went missing. To a woman that litteraly took in the kids of person that her family had murdered.
This is the most litteral case of character assasination i've seen.
And we're supposed to believe that william would feel enough empathy for her to make a comeback...

Now every relations she has feel forced, like how she's supposed to be friend with that cop (now we're left to wonder if she was not just a corrupt cop) and i feel like the only explanation that Ocean can make, and will go through is to put everything on Dylan to try to preserve a semblant of empathy for the rest of the family.
But Dylan was barely fleshed out, he just seemed like a random guy that tried his best to keep is family afloat but in doing so sacrificed his relation with helen and was now struggling to keep his family together.

Now we're led to believe that he was fully invested in the mafia and that he's somehow supposed to be a big shot.

FFS. Ocean tried so hard to make that rewrite feel "interesting" that i'm pretty sure he got it completely confuse for drama=interest. So he had to make it EXTRA.

Honestly i wish well to Ocean but i don't think that WIAB will survive that rewrite (I think he will still do some updates but that it will be cut short) and that some of his ex-fan(atics) will probably hold a grudge over him. And i've seen some of those going completely feral, trying (and sometime succeding) to bully a dev out of his platforms by almost harrasing those platforms with constant report.

WIAB used to be my favorite game which I started playing shortly after the second update, and it had some really rough part (those that belong to a first game dev) but it had an atmosphere that was really endearing, namely all character had some kind of ressentment against the MC but through all of that you still had the impression that there was some love (the kind that even if you hate them for something, you just can't erase) and now it just feel like complete stranger bound together by something flimsy (even if I dare say, hollow).

Overall I think Ocean lost his passion for this VN, in doing so it lost it's soul which made a lot of players loose their faith and patience with this game.

I didn't even had the heart to finish this update even though I am usually an avid "binge-watcher" of his updates (both in WIAB and SG), that's just how hollow it all feels to me...

There's manga called Bleach, Tite Kubo is its author. Kubo is a fantastic artist who thinks up cool shit and draws some SLICK designs but can't write plot to save his life. Ocean is the Kubo of VN's.

Interesting how the Zanes (now officially of Venetian origins) get worse with each new version: first a family that opposes the gangs for this in the crosshairs, then a group of people with contacts with the underworld (especially Leia) and now a "family" *insert godfather theme* led by Donna Helen Zane

let's talk about the things that don't make sense:

William and Leia are "recruited" into the family to be used in possible marriages for alliances, it might be less stupid than someone might think many mafia organizations pass on archaic concepts, rituals and regulations, but it doesn't make sense because when they talk about not wanting Leia in command it's because she's a Pedersoli; Consequently both are never really seen as Zane a possible marriage that isn't Katie's would be worthless

Helen is said several times to be the boss, but depends for her protection on men who must be supplied and sent by Leia. Furthermore, despite the difficult period, the Zane Family should be the strongest in the territory but he and Scarlet are shown plotting to gather some crumbs of power. And Dylan talks about showing weakness by running away???
Still on the subject of Helen, it is now obvious that Helen has left William to rot in prison but now she is willing to wage war (with which men) on the other families if they try to exile him?

Katie being bullied... oh yeah now that the Zanes are family *insert godfather theme* someone bullied a boss' daughter. Not to mention that Dylan loves his daughter enough to have plans in case other families had their sights set on her and didn't make his bullies disappear into a pylon?
This isn't exactly nonsense but it is ironic that part of the rewrite was originally due to Wiab being written with his foot flat on the accelerator, and now Miru gets distracted for 5 seconds and we're already down Katie's throat (not that I'm complaining about it too much).

Speaking of reworks it's about time I run through the original of this again.. despite visuals lacking early on, it's still superior.
