thats kind of sad first 3 chapters made so much sense of them being biological family... then chapter 4 hit and turns it on its head. Yes i know Ocean wants to sell it and most platforms frown on it. Just feels like two different stories now... kinda makes me feel sad in the end.
As much as people think the original story made sense, it didn't.

If William feared the repercussions from his "inappropriate" relationship with Leia being discovered, then why the hell didn't he take her with him when he fled?

That is easily explained by the fact that he was a immature little shit. Anyway no WiaB was never the Lord of the Rings, it was simply easier to understand.

If anything, it's not an answer to you personally, Doc. I'll just use your post as a starting point.

Damn. Fuck. Shite. Fucking soggy popslices.
I can't believe they're still arguing about the plausibility and reasonability of the teenage MC's actions in WiAB.

Right here, right now, in this fucking thread, despite the game page being updated, the release date being updated on the first page, and says that release was at 2025-07-04. Despite the changelog being posted announcing over 4,000 new renders, despite all the updated information on Steam and GoG. Fuck, despite all of this, there are still people who writing "I launched the game and there's nothing new. Stupid Ocean hasn't done anything in a year. I'm so disappointed."

Didn't it even occur to them that there might be something wrong with their game installation? That maybe they should look for a solution in the thread. I understand that it's hard to do, the whole thread is covered in monkey shit of the mafia mockers. But still, the search function works.

As a last resort, you can ask for the hundredth time "Guys, maybe this has already been answered, but I can't find a solution. For some reason I don't see any new content in the game. What could it be?" Well, at least that's it, it's completely normal if you can't use the search.

No, the fucking conclusion is obvious and doesn't require any verification. Ocean hasn't done anything in a year and there was no release either. "I looked down my pants today and they were covered in shit. Damn you Ocean, what kind of writer are you after that?"

We're observing a clear idiocy happening in real life, in real time. The complete lack of ability to analyze and perceive information from people who have confirmed that they are adults when they signed up for the site. Yet you continue to criticize Ocean for the irrational actions of a fictional protagonist in a fantasy story who was 16 years old at the time of the events.

I propose another change to the scenario: simply change the mafia to a dictatorship or a cult. You could then argue it was simple brainwashing from a young age. I even have a very catchy porn name for the leader.

"Big Member Dylan"
:ROFLMAO:
I think that'd be funnier but would still have similar issues to the current version. Maybe if Leia and Willi's families were part of the closed off cult it would make sense that they'd land with the Zanes. But there are a myriad of other issues that won't be explained by that scenario either.

As much as people think the original story made sense, it didn't.

If William feared the repercussions from his "inappropriate" relationship with Leia being discovered, then why the hell didn't he take her with him when he fled?
Shame. He was conflicted and embarrassed by his actions as well.
Anyways I don't think anyone said it did make sense before. The previous version had issues but far minor that the current one. I'd say the previous version with the ic was about 80% there to making sense. This new version goes down to about 50%.

This change does make it easier to move forward without fear of the ic police but it damages the story and characters greatly. Therefore it will be far more difficult to fix this unholy mess in the future. And with each new update Ocean proves not to be up to the task. 1 step forward and 2 steps back seems to be his motto. And it suits him.

The comment I wrote, which Doc replied to, was simply my frustration at all the comments saying the new backstory is either not plausible or doesn't make any sense. It's not as if the original backstory made perfect sense either. It's Leia who states the obvious in both versions: "W-why didn't you take me with you...?" [Willi doesn't answer]

If I were Ocean, I'd send Willie to college or a military school for boys (the mafia version). Just to get rid of those endless and pointless debates: (Although why only a teenager? Just an impulsive person like Willie, who barged in a conflict between gangs and tried to set up a casus belli between them. With his famous grace.)

College would be perfectly plausible for connoseurs of realism.

EDIT: "Can a teenager run away from home in a stressful situation? Can a teenager reconsider his impulsive decision after a week?"
And the third question: can a teenager be selfish, leaving friends and family alone? I can think of a dozen TV series, movies and series where the same behavior of the MC serves as a kickstart to the story. And I can't think of a single one that would cause so much debates about the answer to these questions.

It doesn't solve anything. You have to start before that. Even if Willi had been sent away to boarding school or military or whatever before his parents died he'd still be a minor. The state would still take him in if there isn't a next of kin.

I'm gonna assume that Ocean didn't create a world where you can steal children, or keep the ones you found on the street without consequence. There's no reason to believe that "pick an orphan off the street day" is a thing.

Solve the "adoption" issue then we'll discuss his motivations for leaving and coming back. And if by some miracle you manage to successfully create a plausible scenario for that one don't worry, we'll move on to the next issue. 'Cause there are a lot of them.

You mean to tell me that it's not the mafia college where they sent Leia? ag2694.jpg

It's not specified how they did it legally, because it's unimportant to the plot and leads to unnecessary questions. But the Zanes resolved the issue so that the young recruits went to school, lived with their family, and bullied their daughter on perfectly legal grounds. I'll print out the official certificate from Wollust Social Service for you later.

So now that we've cleared that up, is there anything else that's not believable about Willie running away?

You didn't clear anything up. You just dismissed a legitimate issue as "unimportant". One of dozens.

There is a certain limited amount of suspension of disbelief you can apply before you just have to admit the plot is nonsense.

If I have to be a lobotomite or resort to porn brain or mafia reasons to go along with this story, maybe the story is just nonsensical trash?

Which is all I'm arguing by the way! I'm not saying you shouldn't like it or it shouldn't make sense to you. You do you.

Porn logic and mafia reasons explain everything

I made it perfectly clear.

How can a hacker track someone's IP address by running ifconfig utility from the terminal? Why, when the hacker in the movie runs out of time, he/she just doubles the speed of typing and completes the job? Is the hacker's job really dependent on typing speed? Why didn't they just copy and paste? Or write a script to automate the job?

But I've seen it in many award-winning movies. Do you know why? Because the plot of these movies is not built on the details of a hacker's work. They don't need a full technical reproduction of a hacking session, they need a visual accompaniment to the plot episode: among the characters there is a hacker who can hack anything. Here he does his magic and they get access to a secure system. But these movies are not about hackers or the technological details of their work, they are about completely different things.
If I have to be a lobotomite or resort to porn brain or mafia reasons to go along with this story, maybe the story is just nonsensical trash?
Ocean is not to blame for your lobotomy, you've been always like that. Stop guilt tripping him about your condition! :Kappa:

Some things just don't need explanation, they're prerequisites to the story.
You're like those annoying dudes who interrupt the story of "Guy walks into a bar and orders 30 shots..." with questions like, "Wait, why is there a bar there? Is their liquor license up to date? Who owns it?"

Well, that is one problem with with white knights like Yossa or Duck. Their MO is dismissal of important points and lots of "whataboutisms", because they know they have no other option to react to plotholes the size of the Polar Sea and logic failures the size of Australia.

As I told Duck, I am happy for them that they like the update, but for me it is the worst trash Ocean ever delivered storywise! Instead of repairing existing plotholes and logic failures, he closed some but opened even bigger plotholes and logical failures across the board. I truly doubt he is able to recover from this heap of rubbish. I for one have more or less closed the chapter of WIAB and SG. From here on it can only become worse.

In my personal opinion Ocean should have done the following: He should have kept the Zanes being a family, Willi and Leia fled because they began to get closer than twins should, a short-circuit reaction due to them being 16 years old teenagers.
They soon learned that living a runaway life and a secret relationship at that age is bound to fail spectacularly. They decide to return, when the framing happened, easy lurning desperate Teens into stuff.
Willi meets Miru like in the original story and hit it off. Miru knows from early on that there is something more to Willi and Leia´s relationship than meets the eye, but that is not too big a problem, since the twins learned the hard way that their taboo relationship is a big can of worms.
One could keep it ambivalent, hinting towards that their relationship went back to just close twins and also towards them "getting closer" on occasion. Generally so, Willi, Miru and Leia live together, gain friends like Daphne, etc. until one day Dylan calls them that Helen became mute after a murder attempt. He tells them that the family gets pulled in deeper into Uncle Joe´s shenigans and a brutal, cocky gang is not only a big problem for the City of Wollust, but it also targets the Zane family´s legal businesses.
And since in this universe Willi and Leia had a loving home, which they miss deeply, but also fear what might happen when they come home, now have a real reason to return.
As an info, I wrote this scenario on the fly, off the cuff! It is not that difficult to create a halfway logical and coherent strating point.

What stressful situation? When we thought that the reason was Leia was easier to understand. Now it seems that the worst scenario was that he would be exiled, so he just when on anyway ? Sure a emotional teenager could do that, William was just never show to be the type, but yeah, is not impossible. Then what would be so stressful ? Clearly it wasn't Leia, something that although never confirmed before was heavily implied and much easy ti understand.

A week is maybe too long even. Most would cave in less than 3 days, but this is not really the point.

A teenager can be selfish or not, cruel or not, good or not, that is.not the point. Even a selfish teenager needs a motive, he being selfish just make the motive need to be smaller. Nobody run away from a loving (?) Home, or just a comfortable place only because they are selfish. William don't have not even the hint of a clear motivations, will may say that he didn't have before either, with would not be untrue, but the scenario allowed you to come up with a easier awnser. He was caught being a little to close with his twin sister, by their young sister, who they bullied her entire life. Is simply. Is easy. Even if this was never the case, with I doubt, the circumstances allowed better explanation. Now ? The awnser to all that kinda is mob law. And I liked the update, but we should be allowed to talk about its shortcomings along side the good, that have plenty, that image when William looked at the mirro ? Gut punching.

Now you're just being silly

If we were to go by your argument than there would no no good stories, no bad stories, no great or awful stories. All flaws would be dismissed. They would just all be stories at the exact same level of quality. There would be no difference between my writing and William Shakespeare's.

We know that isn't quite so, don't we? And the fact that so many intelligent people here can't make any more sense of this shit than I can, including yourself, then we must assume there are issues with the writing :)

We are all united in that regard. Some of us like it, other's not so much but we all know this is absolute nonsensical writing

Young William kissing Katie is a big no-no. He was overcome by nostalgia for his murdered parents and just can't live with Zane's anymore.
