As the steam version is only 1.9gb, how could the renders be better than the previous Patreon version?

The game is not complete. From memory the plan is for there to be 25 chapters, though I've read somewhere it might be 26 so that may have changed.
Cheeky decided to release the game onto Steam. The first 10 chapters needed a rework, mainly to bring the renders up to the same quality as the latter part of the game (he understandably improved the quality as he got more practice doing it)
I haven't looked in the chat for awhile so i think the rework (revision) is now complete with the Steam release and he will now start work on the final chapter (or 2)
That, from memory was the plan and why someone earlier said it was complete. The only thing which makes me doubt this is that it is named rev1, which implies the plan may now be to reversion all of the existing chapters. If that is the case it may be now, or after the game is completed. From memory though, the plan was to get it acceptable for a Steam release and then press on and finish it.

So if i play the re-work up to episode 10, can i carry on with the game on the old upload or do you have to wait until the re-work version gets another release?
The save games are not compatible. However, you can play the rework, then jump into the original game (the "old upload") at Episode 11 using the Start Any Episode feature. This feature walks you through the love interests you want and the major choices you've made and then starts the episode with your selections.

Played s1 and s2 up tp ep.24.
Like it very much.
Latest version of ep.1 hasn't got that shocking much changes for me to want it to download.
So , why should i bother?
Because dev wants on Steam?
The important thing is the fact the game isn't finished yet.

Not really, if you actually read what is being said vs tab skip, you will find it makes the game dumb as a box of rocks.

All the devs said was he was swapping models for the earlier episodes, but he also said he is redoing art. He added scenes and content, do you honestly expect he won't do that for future seasons when released. Where did the dev say specifically they won't add anything or change some art in future episodes??? Although after they "Streamlined" the ReMaster content they cut so much out because it wouldn't work with the OG content and because the dev wanted more pizazz with new renders.
What I personally have learned is Just because the "Dev States" one stance does not mean they will not switch at some mid point with their stance if the opportunity arises to which things line up with their overall end goal better.
The said dev then ended up just doing per chapter remasters to which then turned into massive push back from the audience after 2 chapters to which dev now said they are going to back to the OG content.

its so tiring to have to play the same scenes over and over again where we're at right now happened several years ago

I've really thought about what your problem could be...
If it's just a matter of you getting an error message with the Mac version... just try it more often (3-4x) until you get the option that you can open despite the risk of damage. This is usually irrelevant for Ren'Py games.
Of course, there is no guarantee for programs downloaded randomly from the Internet... but I had no problems with the test I did for you (especially this game).
If you want to play the latest version, which is currently only available for Windows, you can open it via the Ren'Py Launcher app. ...or you get an additional Windows machine for games.

Jenna used to be my favourite VN girl back in the day when this originally came out years ago. But the render quality just fell off over time.
Having the same reaction now as I had back then Great job on the rework, dunno if it's AI filters or whatever, but it looks great and colorful.
