I'm beginning to think people choose to ignore the fact that Elaine is a fully grown adult who isn't going to starve to death on the streets if she gets dumped and kicked out of her boyfriends house for refusing to bully a child.I'm beginning to think people choose not to follow certain plot points.
Elaine isn't having a reformation, she ALWAYS cared, the dad forced her not to show it or he'd kick her to the curb. The dad hated him, not Elaine, she had no choice.
Sure, Elaine cared enough about the kid to complain to his father about how they treated him, but she didn't care enough to actually do anything to help him out since that would inconvenience her too much. Elaine had a choice. She choose to help make a kid's life miserable because it made hers better.
But now, she suddenly decides that she wants to be nice and help the kid out. She claims that it was like a fog was lifted when the father died, and that she isn't getting anything in the will because she refuses to fulfill some horrible requirement set for her. Granted, we don't know if the stipulation in the will had anything to do with the main character, but I'm willing to make that assumption since it's a game and he's the main character. Which would mean that Elaine suddenly went from someone willing to make his life worse in order to benefit herself, to someone willing to make her own life worse so that she could make his better. Which is why I'm just a tiny bit skeptical of this turn around.
