In order for a harem to work ALL characters would need a complete personality shift and the story would need to change to fit it whether you were on that route or not.
They aren't likely to release 2 games.
Regardless of whether i'd want a harem or not every single girl would still be made to be open to it and the writing changed to fit.
Harems in general are ridiculous outside of extreme fantasy games.
Who's badmouthing wanda here? She just need a firm hand to properly guide here just like with Theresa.

Obviously the game offers you options to pursue single characters or group of characters. If you don't want a harem ending you would just stick to the girls you would eventually try to get together with.
No change of character needed, no outlandish explanation in your playthrough(s).
You are making an assumption, that the characters would need to be rewritten for a harem ending, which is based on NOTHING but your own opinion. It's a logical fallacy to equal your assumptions with a logical conclusion.
Not to mention that a harem ending wouldn't need to be entirely realistic, as I have pointed out in the part of my post you completely disregard.
In reality, why wouldn't the decisions the player makes simply slowly change the direction of the game, as it is now where you can already decide a lot about how characters behave, what they are willing to do etc..?
And since YOU wouldn't AIM for a harem ending, none of these changes would affect your playthrough, especially when as Acewinz suggested there might be some forms of alternative endings and non-patreon approved stuff, because many people (patrons) ask for it?
Those endings might not even be reachable by a normal playthrough, but could function as a form of extra epilogue, alternate reality etc..
There are definitely ways to give everybody what she or he wants, IF Cheeky should decide to do so, without destroying the game for you.
Someone who loves Allison so much, shouldn't be so opposed to introducing some more unrealistic endings into a story.

We must think that not always a game is forced to be equal to reality, even if the reality sometimes exceeds the fantasy. a porn or erotic game that is, must necessarily resort to exaggeration and then if MC makes love with all the characters of the game should not surprise us. we can love or not the harem route, but we can not dispute the choices of Cheeky. It's a bit "take it or leave it". And hopefully update 17 will be here soon.
I don't remember any discussions about each character and especially about guessing who the gold digger might be or about the future evolution of the story with Jolina or Elaine, not even with Big Brother, who gave rise to over a thousand pages of discussions and requests.

Understand what you're saying. I'm usually happy to go back 2-5 pages if I haven't visited a thread for a while - depending upon how popular the game is. WTHI is popular so I'd expect to have to go back a bit further in this case. If people are waiting for it because it's been delayed for a while you'll normally find someone's mentioned it and there's been a reply.
I would think whether an author decides to make a harem style game or not would have to be an early decision in the process. They'd have to decide whether to make the traits of their characters open to sharing with a number of others at an early stage or go for the more realistic option where cheating has consequences.
I don't know if it would be possible to write an either/or game - or if it was it would be damn complicated. The character traits of WHTI suggest there may be small mini-harem's of 2 or 3 girls but anymore that that wouldn't make sense from what we've seen so far.

Okay here are my two cents on the matter. I completely agree with the current setup a harem ending won't work. Maybe a mini harem with 2-3 characters is possible.
But What if the harem didn't need to work? It could be a mini update, a fantasy what if. Like Philly did for depraved awakening the dragon scene in the end or, the bonus scene in Carlie path.
Cheeky won't need to go back and change a lot of stuff. The players who don't want harem won't ever see it or the changes it brought. And people who want the harem are happy. win-win
You already have at least one mini-harem with Katie/Lilly/Debbie.
I suppose CheekyGimp et all could write a "What if?" fantasy stand-alone update once the game's complete if there was a demand. It would probably have to assume it was a full harem with all girls to make it easier to code - or do it by groups where the user selects at the start:
Monica/Katie/Jenna
Monica/Zarah/Angel/Wanda
Jenna/Jolina/Theresa
Elaine/Bella
All girls covered I think? Probably too complicated though and the former all or nothing approach would be easier. In terms of the main story it would have to be accepted that would be just fantasy (MC dream?) and otherwise nonsense.

It's not with bad feelings. She's a proper nasty bitch and sometimes nasty bitches can be real fun. But she isn't submissive like someone said before. She was acting like a complete ass before MC set her up to think he was an agent and before finding out he knew Monica. She started acting submissive just because she thought MC would make her a model. That's why i said she was a gold-digging whore. This type of women don't always go after the money. Sometimes they want just power or to be the center of attention, but it implies the same thing, since money can bring you both. To some of them money aren't the goal, but just the tool.

All this talk of a harem type ending is interesting but I don't think it would fit in the established narrative. Yes, some of the women might be down for a threesome once in a while or even on a regular basis but quite a few of the characters are certainly straight and want a relationship and will not want to share. Perhaps this demand for a harem could be satisfied if it was implemented as a dream sequence. Anyway looking forward to the next chapter.

Hi folks,
Just a quick update to say that we won't have a partial beta ready for the end of the month (i.e. today). The script is pretty much complete (for the whole episode) but we're still missing too much art, so it would spoil the experience if you played as is.
Made some progress on art over the past week but not as much as we had hoped - Our primary artist is off the grid. not sure why or what's going on, but based on what's happening in the world at the moment and knowing that people have a lot of stuff going on, I'm not going to pass any judgement - I just hope he is back in contact soon and hopefully we haven't been ghosted once again. Can't really go into more details at the moment, because I don't know what's going on.
Currently working a plan to divvy up the artwork between me and the other artist to ensure we can complete Episode 17 for April.

Ya, sorry fellas. Cheeky anticipated we wouldn't be able to slap together the beta this month given the state of things, but I kept pushing the idea we could despite not handling the art which is where we are struggling. = (

Last few pages, seems like people are fighting over whether or not there will be a harem ending, and if it breaks the 'too unrealistic even for a pr0n game' meter, and have overlooked the real issue with the game:
MC has raw dogged every chick in this game with his dirty man-whore dick without even a thought about protection. So even if they dont all end up together, at least MC has potentially given them all the gift that keeps on giving!

Just when I thought I couldn't be brought any lower, another staff setback. Just knowing that once the release finally comes out it'll be a beta that will be missing scenes was bad enough...
And yes I know shit happens and you don't look a gift horse in the butthole and whatnot. I just can't help but feel bad, okay? Let's try to get over this... At this pace SS will release before this (wow I just kicked myself when I was down).
Also yes, I don't really get the huge commotion about IF there will be a harem ending. Just wait things out, folks... rampant speculation won't help anyone.
