Eva can only make them think, which is what I said. She already does though regardless of player choice. They are both shown to lean towards the direction she wants them to, constantly thinking about her suggestions and acting accordingly. And they both do that, because they think that's what the other spouse likes, even though it's all planted by her. She is practically manipulating their love for each other to push them where she wants. It just hasn't progressed too much yet.
Which is why the game refuses to let them talk to each other about their sessions. Because if they do, her ruse that is working atm, will crumble, since they will realize she has been gaslighting them about each other's supposed desires.
A skilled manipulator can definitely make people do things. They just need to gaslight them enough, to make them think it's what they want/need.
The reader, so far, has control over what Alex & Sarah do, their actions.
Fable also gives the reader choices about how/what Alex & Sarah think about what Eva is telling them...
Eva's 'ruse' only works if the reader allows it to.
Yes, if Alex & Sarah talk about Eva's sessions now, it breaks some of the tension being created.
Story wise, it still leaves Alex & Sarah in the same place, them trying to figure out how/what they feel about things. Fable could absolutely have them talk about it, and then... why don't we keep talking to Eva about these things, help each of us sort out the feelings. I understand a preference toward that route, but what Fable is doing isn't wrong, bad, or unrealistic. Alex & Sarah are a loving couple, they ain't perfect. They're going to get stronger, or weaker and break, it's up to the reader.
A skilled manipulator can only do so much against a strong will/personality.
Manipulators aren't gods...
Fable gives the choices to the reader to have Alex & Sarah give in or not.
If Eva is manipulating the reader, well, that's on the reader...
