You might not have it set up correctly for direct storage, to have full direct storage functionality you need Windows 11 but it should still be faster on Windows 10 if setup correctly, this is the only game that has this kind of load speed so chances are you've never had to look into it, if you're on Windows 11 you can check if it's correctly setup under Xbox game bar (win+G) in settings, should be in the section where you set up automatic HDR, if you're on Windows 10 i have no clue how to check.
As to how to set it up... google is your friend i suppose, and just to clarify, i don't know if the game actually uses it, i just assume based and the 1-2 second load speed.
For the people who get some startup crashes, try changing from dx12 to dx11 like this:
- create a shortcut to the wildlifeC.exe
- right click -> properties
- add -d3d11 after the .exe (a space in between)
how it should look like:
C:\wildlife\2022.12.22_Shipping_Full_Build_1\Windows\WildLifeC.exe -d3d11
Worked for me on windows 10, no more fatal crash at startup.

Hey guys, whenever I start up the game I see it coming up in Task Manager but it doesn't actually start. Any ideas as to why?
I agree. The game had so much potental when it was focused on the female maya side. But then they flipped the tables around got lazy and changed the course and started to focus on scifi male character story telling which is kinda sad to behold. It's just another walking sex simulator at this point.
i still look forward to each new release to see the new scenes. it is what it is and if no 'real' game ever comes out of it, im okay with that. if they only keep on this path then id like to see customization of scenes and characters build in at some point. a high definition dedicated furry sex sim is perfectly fine by me.

I mean, for now it seems that development curve seem to be count towards their fans community, since they allow us to rip and use unity assets on the game. When we can mod and add out own content it's pretty much all they can do now is just keep adding more animations, since they don't care about story side. They just seem to be at state that they don't have ideas where to take this game to make it go forward and just testing different things and methods.

the skin and hair look very smooth before but now the skin looks like rubber and the hair looks like straw. i tried maxing out graphics but nothing changed,is this normal in the new engine 5 build or it's me?

not just you - Maya's hair is indeed like plastic in UE5.1 and it was quite detailed in UE4.x. But literally everything else about the graphics is 10 times (and in some cases infinite times) better than before. Especially in sandbox downloaded maps with poor lighting Lumen makes all the difference. But hair materials and somewhat the skin is indeed with wrong subscattering.
One bug in VR - the first-person camera is now mounted above the head. While this resolves the ugly eyeballs that popped up in front of you in UE4.x, it is a workaround because now you are about 3 meters tall when in 1st person.
Even possessing Ilijah does not help - looks like the camera height is not proportional to the body height.
For example, walking trough a door in 1st person in VR is quite challenging (your char enters, but your view bumps trough the wall above the door.
Other than that - the latest build is rock stable for me. Hours and hours in VR trying out over 50 downloaded maps - all work as before (with much MUCH improved Lumen lighting) and nothing crashes. Literally only 1 repeatable crash due to wrong keystroke, other than that works flawlessly, framerate is even better than UE4.x. Mirrors now DO reflect you (thanks to UE 5.1 not 5.0) but only as a shadow, it will take Lumen 1-2 more years to reflect sharper in realtime. But it is still an amazing graphics experience.
For the plebs compaining about switching from UE4, this is necessary as the new engine presents tons of needed stuff for the game to progress. Let's hope Steve throws some story to the complainers as I am fed up of the best game there is being slaughtered with comments about not having backstory to the amazing sex.

, but I understand it - to many users have trash hardware.Is it just me or the game idk when I create sex animation all textures become very low including the skins and it doesnt get any better by the time. for example when I pass through skins with Rawn it takes 2 seconds to load textures but when I start a sex animation all the skin textures including Maya gets low quality and doesnt fix by time. I play in Epic quality btw and restarting doesnt fix I have to shut the game down and open again all the time.

I miss the old POV presets, where you can choose either character's POV. I guess it's a bug or something (?) because now the only POV you can see from is the giving side.
Also, any idea when they're going to put the characters models in to the new map? It was fun walking around the village and oasis with all the characters there, even underdeveloped as it was.

I moved from August release to this December one and everything works, but... the story mode is no longer there, the scenes are not either (don't care much about those though) and the worst - whole terrain is completely low res and lacks all structures. I was thinking I messed something up unpacking the archive, but it stands at 22 GB. Is this related to the U5 issues people were heaving earlier in the thread?
