I tend to repeat myself from time to time here and I think its that time again:
Game development takes long and things generally look and feel like shit for the longest time.
We are now focusing more and more on the actual game development so you will see considerable progress on that front in the coming time. I also know this is something that will once again divide the community and possibly disappoint those who just want a sandbox. But I think with the addition of the full body poser we have created a very strong and long lived tool for the more creative people in the community to floursh in while the game gets now pushed into the finish line.

And once again I repeat myself that it is a bit misled and short-sighted to assume patreon is just "a business model to keep patrons as long sa possible". I mean, yes we want that and are doing what we can to keep people interested - obviously. But the goal is NOT to go like this for ever until the last person has had enough. The REAL business clearly is to finish the game and sell it as a finished product. It its a win-win for everyone! We get more funding for future projects from the sales, we have cemented in the trust of our fans that we can deliver a finished product, we have learned a lot on the way on what the people want and with that experience can improve ourselves and the future projects we make even more.

In the end there isnt much more that I can do than to keep giving my best to finish this game and share my experience and my thoughts here whenever it looks like someone could gain valuable insight.
Thanks for reading :)

Is there any noticeable difference in performance between UE4 and UE5 version. Is there any point in downloading the "old" UE4 one?

I think it has just become a trend for gamers to shit on developers despite their track record. You could have the most loved developers hit a bump in the road and large chunk of gamers will start shitting on them as if they're an EA in the making. CDPR is a great example of this. People loved them, but then they had one fuck up with the Cyberpunk launch and people started absolutely shitting on them, despite them almost immediately starting to address bugs. Unlike with Cyberpunk though, Wild Life devs actually gave a heads up that the UE5 build would be unstable in its early stages, and people are either ignoring that and expecting something differently than what the dev literally stated, or they aren't reading at all then come here and complain.
Bugs were never my problem with Cyberpunk, my problem was that it ended up being more open world looter shooter than role playing game. It's hardly anything like what they were pitching pre-release. Realistic, detailed, mature, mechanically advanced rpg that sets a new standard for the genre my ass.

That doesn't really have anything to do with WL though. WL has been in development for a while to say the least and as far as playable content goes most of the advertised features in the Patreon blurb either don't exist or are extremely bare bones, then the whole thing implodes with the UE5 upgrade. I've been fine with what the game has had to offer but I understand why people get frustrated.

Yup this is correct. Patreon has a history of shutting down stuff with bestiality and they have .
Call things "Alien Sex" instead of "Bestiality"and the patreon bot explode.

I'm always curious what gamers expect the developers to do in situations like this. As far as the features from Patreon not being completed, the Wild Life developers are very clearly actively developing the game. You can literally see this not only in the Patreon post updates, but in-game on the main map. You can roam around the map and see the progress to the villages they've done each update. They've explained why they put so much focus in Sandbox(so players are able to make their own content so when the developers begin to focus solely on campaign players aren't just stuck with nothing), like, I'm sure no one on the dev team wants to see people constantly complaining about things they've explained over and over, if they could pull a fully completed polished game from their ass I'm sure they would, but unfortunately game developments takes time, but some people just don't want to hear that. Really, I just think the early access/ongoing development model isn't for most people. I can definitely understand being frustrated when developers are seemingly just making random changes their community/playerbase didn't ask for(see Fallen Doll Operation Lovecraft for example) but that isn't the case here. I personally think a lot of people are just impatient and aren't really suited for the early access model, even moreso for people that only pirate/not support the devs(not meant to be a diss)

It's not impatience when the game has been in development for like 6 years, anyone who follows this game is extremely patient. We're getting into Star Citizen territory if we aren't there already.

It's definitely a game changer in how fugly it makes everything. How can you stand that crap??
depth of field (dof) truly takes the scenes from a 75 out of 100 to a 95 out of 100 for me. With depth of field it's amazing how the scenes look when you view them close up. It gives it a cinimatic look. Maybe I'll make a video or screenshot and post it some day. But it helps to have a good PC to run with all setting at max as the dof truly improves the experience in this case. You just really need to know how to take advantage of it and use it properly with the right lighting. You don't want to have your entire scene blurred out by the dof, only what you're focusing on.

Of and for those that find it hard to get the dof to focus (and not blur out the entire scene) when using the orbital camera. Essentially you switch the the free camera and zoom in into the zoom level you want the orbital camera to be at. From there you switch to the orbital camera and zoom in to the level you zoomed in at using the free camera. It's easier to get working when the characters a standing as apposed to laying down.

As someone that actually followed Star Citizen for a while, I think it's disingenuous to even put these games in the same category when it comes to game development/time management. Star Citizen's issues (imo) seems to come from extreme feature creep and the lead dev being a perfectionist. I don't know whether you take a peek into the Wild Life discord server every now and then, but if you do then you've probably seen that these devs are not afraid to shoot down ideas that would drastically extend dev time/postpone the planned release date.

Like I said, regardless of how many years its been, these developers have clearly been working on the game, they aren't just sitting back collecting Patreon money(you can even watch Steve work live sometimes), it becomes impatience when people start expecting the developers to begin miraculously working at an increased pace with the same quality they've had up till now to pump out the game. They rushed out the UE5 build and people complained. They take their time over the years to get to the point where the final UE4 build was and people complain(specifically on this forum) it's a lose lose.
