I'm running into a problem where launching the game starts up steam vr and takes up a ton of computer memory, any fix?
New 10$ build still have same crash, its odd for me because everything works fine exept that perticular place and i didnt overclock gpu becouse i dont know how to do that properly and i dont want to do something wrong, i tried turning volumetrics on and off fiew times and restarting game and i updated DirectX, VC++ runtimes and drivers and nothing helps i have no idea what to do.At least it seems no AMD user is experiencing the strange mesh distortion problem anymore didn't heard anything about that anymore
The other issue now seems to be caused by the Volumetric Lights used in that exact spot to get a certain wow effect
It helped 1 AMD user reportedly so far to disable the Volumetrics in the Video Setup to avoid the crash on his RX580 (Polaris GCN 4), but it could be random as another one reported it didn't avoid the crash when he disabled the Volumetrics and that makes it now super strange, though it's still unclear if he really disabled it correctly.
It could be also that those cards are overly wrong Overclocked or get just to Hot and the Volumetrics stress it to a timeout, this is especially problematic on the Windows 10 Hardware Security Architecture.
If a Device isn't reacting fast enough Windows 10 assumes a instability or attack on the Hardware and brakes the drivers connection to avoid damage or a low level intrusion.
This also happens on pre Windows 10 but on Windows 10 the stability checks are deeper and it's reacting faster to very small deviations from what it expects to be a normal state.
You can higher the timeout before a so called TDR (Timeout Detection and Recovery) happens to give the driver/hardware more time to react but there are more indeepth Kernel checks in Windows 10 those you can't change.
Windows 10 will be pickier when it doesn't like what it sees and also try to protect itself with higher force, it reacts very fast to instabilities
And most of the times it sees OC as a instability or even a attack and goes very fast into Red Alert Mode.
yea basically you can play one of two ways - main story - where you play as max(and maybe as other characters later on idrk) and sandbox , in which you start off as max but if you press T on keyboard - you can spawn anyone and click E to talk to them and then you can possess them and control that characterHello everybody. Excuse me for a dumb question (I'm a novice), but are there multiple versions of the game featuring different characters as protagonists? The current build shared here features Max as the main character, but I've seen many videos where player is controlling Maya and Frank (iirc his name). Could anyone explain it, please? Thanks!
mine is rx570We need more reports that 580 are crashing here the 580 could be also a pre OCed model so you could try to underclock maybe that stabilizes it.
Ok try this Demo it has shitload of Volumetric effects enabled if that is stable throughout i guess we can slowly judge out Volumetrics specifically as the cause here in Wild-Life.
If it crashes as well for most 580 user we might have found some really big Unreal problem with GCN currently could be happening onto the transition of Epic to RDNA performance.

the game might give you an appropriate error if this were the case so take my advice with a grain of salt...I ran into an issue once that was exactly like that (although I don't remember if I got an error message). the way I fixed it was by increasing my page file size. my laptop was running out of memory even though I have 8GB which is odd... there are tutorials for thatCan someone help me please?
I just spend two or three entire days to find whats wrong going on.. but unhopefuly i didnt find anything..
The problem is.. when i trying to start a new game (The Fisher Village) - the game crashes after 20-30 seconds without say anything, just keep closing.
I tried to start it anytime i changed resulution, fullscreen or just strat it from teleporting stone - but nothing.. im tried to do this same thing from a lot of different versions of the game too..
But i can start any other mode like "Showroom" "WildLifeMap" and "JungleBlockout".......
Im going crazy, can somebody help me please..?
look in application log for crash event. A lot of times it's system RAM, check if you're using overclocking of system RAM or even the SPD. If using SPD make sure RAM voltage isn't auto but set to spec (Gigabyte boards set voltage to auto which causes instability)Can someone help me please?

Actually im using laptop, with 8gb and its running out of memory too.. i checked the task manager while trying to start a new game(FisherVillage). And nope.. There no error message when the game crashes..the game might give you an appropriate error if this were the case so take my advice with a grain of salt...I ran into an issue once that was exactly like that (although I don't remember if I got an error message). the way I fixed it was by increasing my page file size. my laptop was running out of memory even though I have 8GB which is odd... there are tutorials for that
