Save files automatically upgrade to the latest version of the game they are being loaded from. There's no manual input required. You probably have .pak file mods installed and those tend to break with future releases as they require a version match. 2 options here:
1. remove the mod file pak(s) from your game folder
2. update your mods with the modding tool (Author shipped an update today)

The game crashes at random moments, presumably related to texture loading. I've experienced crashes while loading the character list in customization, when I quickly ran up to a group of about 8 characters, during the introductory cutscene, and once, while playing a sex animation, the game completely froze, leaving me no choice but to restart my computer. Does anyone know what the issue might be and if there are any ways to fix it myself?

I'm playing on high settings, excluding textures. Textures are at maximum.
My system has an RTX 3060, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X, and 16GB of RAM.
The game is installed on an M2 SSD.

If you're looking for a breeding game subgenre, then I sadly have to tell you that this isn't it.
This is an animation viewer game with a scenery builder, currently that is, supposedly it may have a combat, platforming and a story campaign in the future.
You enter the world, place any buildings, objects and characters into the map you wish (which means you can completely ignore the animal part if you want to) and then you view and control the animations between said characters.
Whether the game is for you or not is too early to decide from here, my advice is to give it a try since you're not forced to watch the animations for the animal/furry characters if you don't want to and that seemed like your most important point.

It's a UE5 game, you probably need more RAM.

Remove or update your outdated .pak file mods.

I did reply up there. And still think that's most likely the cause but i can't be sure, given that you provide little to no specific information regarding the issue you encountered doesn't exactly make troubleshooting this an easy task. It could be a number of other things too... some of which are likely and others of which are not.

HeavenlySword's tutorial is the right answer for the breasts, but we'll still have that endless plastic surgery.
I'm mentioning this again because my messages are flooded with this topic, and Adeptus is combat-oriented. Luckily, I made a fantastic mod that shows you how realistic it really is—"we won't be able to live without it anymore...!"

There's also a chaotic alternative: place stretchable tubes on each breast and attach the left and right A-breast bases to their ends. This creates real flexibility, setting them to 2.0.
Unfortunately, when posing, everything goes haywire... My mod is adjustable through the game itself with certain parameters in the sandbox, plus the best one in-game. It's based on the one I created for Skyrim and also resembles the one from Beasts in the Sun. It will take a little while, though; it's finished, but I'm placing it with lots of zombies, witches, and ghouls to do what all the players are asking for.

Players will be able to adjust it as they wish... awesome!
((Isn't that the whole point of a sex game? And it's amazing even in combat mode.)

This is a fresh install and my first time with the game though, so I don't have any mods, unless they come packaged with the most recent install. Here's the crash report pasted:
