Just wanted to thank you for this - having to fight against the user interface is pretty much my #1 trepidation when I see a game with a non-VN engine.
(Which isn't to say that renpy's way of doing things is the be-all end-all, but when doing things differently that should be informed design decisions, and not "It's a visual novel, how hard can it be? You click and text appears" :ROFLMAO: )
it's apparently pretty damned hard, RPGMaker is still terrible at it after 23 years of development. Rollback is the #1 thing I miss whenever a dev uses something other than Renpy for a VN, but there's a bunch of subtle differences in the way text is presented and you click forward that make it so much nicer to read than anything else.

Really glad Droid took the time to implement all those QoL features in his engi

Can unity games be compressed in the same way as renpy? Feeling like the file size is a bit on the large side
Not really, no. Unity doesn't handle textures saved as .jpg or .webp so you'd have to add that. Natively compressed DXT5 looks terrible for static images, it makes them both smeared and blocky at the same time, which is a really impressive corruption. It's fine for textures on a 3d model moving around, but it's awful for pictures.

I started a new playthrough. My first game, I could do Immelmann reverses, now it seems only Arya can.

Is it characteristic or level-based and I just didn't notice or is this a change?

Just a note to down loaders but MEGA has a 5Gig download limit per day and this version exceeds it.

I understand that Unity games cannot be compressed like Ren'py . . .

So...be ready to wait a day or 'pay da man'

Having trouble with the skill screen can't click the X to get out

work around play without fullscreen and narrow the game puts the X in a clickable spot instead of overtop available points. also saving and exiting the game then loading bring you out and saves the points spent
Yeah, someone reported it's out of bounds on 16:10 aspect ratio. I'll have a look at fixing it shortly.

You now learn it from Arya after you beat her in the simulators. You also learn Astrid's trick (lucky) and Ambers (the shield recharge) after you pass their romance gates (Call me daddy and Couple Gym respectively).

So far it looks like Valery is the new Emily, similar vibes.
Nobleborn, intelligent, proud and a virgin, yes.

However, where Emily is a sheltered girl, Valeria will happily tell you that one of the advantages of growing up on the Hill is that you're always surrounded by beautiful and ambitious young women whose clever tongues can be put to more than one use.

Valeria is also far more proactive than Emily; if she was in Emily's shoes Camelot's lawn would have been covered in crosses long before the nobility got around to rebelling.

OK, I beat Arya at the tactical simulation and the conversation suggests she taught me the Immelmann and I could now practise it on my own, but it isn't appearing on my tactical bar. I thought maybe I needed to sleep a night or two, but it hasn't appeared.

Obviously, I'm missing something basic. I already have four options (rage, sprint, pyro and disable). Is there a limit on the number of manoeuvres?

*edit* Found it. Control in the skill tree on the right. There is a limit on number of skills.

Yes. there's a limit on 4 slots. You activate them with the skills menu.

Resetting skills does NOT remove them from using one of your active slots.

For example, I reset my skills and previously had Disable selected. When I purchased my preferred list, I did not include Disable and was limited to checking 3 skills for use.

A quick test is start with Rage, Disable, Pyromaniac, and Disrupt. Verify all are checked. Reset skills. Try to purchase Sprint.

Yeah, I see it. I'll probably do a hotfix with all the various reported bugs today; normally I don't do hotfixes to F95 builds (because it's a multi-hour time by the time I've done all the zipping, mirroring, etc) but there's enough little QoL fixes that it's probably worth doing. For Steam builds I usually update 3-4 times a week, since it's significantly less painful (~10 mins, and automatic).

Feedback for early game:

I'm on day 26 and am level 20. That seems a bit fast though to be fair I figure there's a good chance it's set up for very quick leveling for this iteration. The conversation around the competition suggested I wasn't giving the simulators enough attention so I probably should be a level or two higher than that even.

I've had no trouble with stat checks at all. I've passed every one so far. Part of that is probably the +10 to all 3 stats I got from skill purchases.

The RNG is having fun with my stat gains. I'm 15/14/11 with almost all the 11 coming from conversations and encounters (gym, gun range, et al.). Int has also gained a modest amount from non-combat encounters and started with +4 INT from background.

Rage 3 feels too powerful for everything seen so far (which I admit isn't much).

Dont know if its only for me, but every time Jades name is brought up, it looks like this:

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

Also, i changed the volume in the game itself and also with windows but the fight videos are still way too loud for me, any way i can change that?

That's strange; you shouldn't have been able to get past the naming part on night of day 42. You can fix it by going to the debug menu (Ctrl+J), going to Cheats and entering NameHer=Jade, but I worry that means you've managed to skip day 42, somehow... likely by running the Astrid event in the evening that would skip straight to late night (fixed in next hotfix).

(I also added a volume slider for cinematics, specifically, so people can control that).

The fix worked :)
I was playing with my save from 0.2, somewhere around day 56 or so. When i loaded, it prompted me to go back to day 40 to the beginning of act 3 (i think) and i continued from there as normal. Not sure what i did on day 42 tho, sorry.

Okay, this is just a hotfix with no new content; there's been enough little bugs and QoS issues that I figured I'd sit down and resolve them.

Win64: - - -
Mac: - - -
Linux: - - -

0.3.0d
- Fixed an issue where Astrid's 1 & 3 bar convos could eat the night slot if you started them in the evening
- Removed friendly fire from grazers
- Fixed skills menu issue on 16:10 aspect monitors
- Split cinematics into its own audio channel and added a volume slider for it
- Cass' shooting sequence now guarded by the NO_CASS flag. If you've started Act III, and completed Day 44 (where it is now cleared), just manually remove it to enable her.
- Rage now shows cooldown, and fixed some typos in skills definitions
- Fixed end-of-act auto-saves for act 1 & 2
- Added code for codex-isolation (so words like Century don't get auto-tagged with the legion definition)
- Added code for displaying cooldown timers.
- Resetting skills also remove them from the skill-bar

0.3.0c
- Fixed an issue where playing the universal simulator at night would advance day
- Fixed an issue that could block Cass' shooting lessons
