That's not his fault, but my famously bad estimations. Just to do a full house, and for those that want a bit on clarity why all of this is taking so long, I'll post my whimpering here as well. Even it turned out to be optimistic because I thought I was almost done with the art back then. But anyway, yes, it's soon. Very soon
Always appreciate it when a dev can own to make bad estimations, the art looks really nice. Wish you all the best

Is dev alive?
Yup!

Cheers man, srsly
In the past I did sort of "abuse" deadlines by giving really optimistic/best-case-scenario ones, because it's always easier to work when you're getting close to a deadline (and especially when you're past it). I'm on a nice big dose of adderall now tho so I won't really need to do that too much moving forward. This one has been particularly bad tho, I'll admit, and I just tried to do way too many things in one release, and got a little too tunnel-visioned on "perfecting" some art pieces. I think this has taken a good 4 times as long as the usual release even though I'll be a bit self-congratulatory here and say I've worked a ghastly amount of hours every day for months on end now. Just glad to be through with it soon, and I can confidently say I will never, ever do an art overhaul again dw

Finished Friday Night quest, said I had something to do before night was over, thought it was for "Designs in the Dark" meeting Ava in her room but go there and nothing is interactable. Only other quests are Ghoul Mischief, shopping for Hermione and May, training weights, and find the wombat.

Tried to do Ghoul Mischeif but the American guy is still there and prevents it.

Can't sleep or use chair to move time forward. Help?
Hello, I have a similar issue. I am already at dueling III and the game said it was going to give me a recap if I didn't finished the ghoul mischief mission, but the american man is still there no matter the time of the day. I also can't finish training weight, already stole them AND purchased them from the american man yet everytime I go to Hannah nothing happens and the mission remains unclear. Already tried fQE,Training Weights,1 but same result. And the last bug I have is with the blasting rod mission; already crafted the rod yet Fred and George won't accept it.

Yup, most of those are related to a bug with the item system that I HOPE is fixed now, and for the american, you simply have to sit in your chair in your room at "night time", meaning when you have Day's End in your questlog. I'm going to make that a lot more clear and have a full-fledged "day system" asap tho. The final build for most things engine-related was sent out to testers about a month ago and it came back mostly clean and without the item bug appearing, so once I got the new art in and I don't have to worry as much about it potentially leaking, I'll do a bit wider beta test and then we'll see if it's all good to go. Then on the new build you should (hopefully!) be able to complete those quests!

Man, I'm glad you still develop this game. Art is very nice but I wish there was a guide (like glowing arrow) for entire game not just 3 first quests. I'm too lazy to explore entire Hogwarts and I bet a lot of people would like it too.
Cheers man, really! There's a better map now that'll show quest locations (when enabled) at least. Will also be working with a guy to create a wiki with walkthroughs for all quests! A "compass" sort of system would require quite a bit of implementation because of the way the layout actually is - rooms are technically next to each other rather than stacked on top or it'd be painful/impossible to avoid weird overlaps when creating occlusion culling maps etc, but it'd be an interesting challenge and I've got some ideas already

I am glad to hear that! Then just out of curiosity, should I finish this beta or just wait for the new one to drop?

whats the point of ai cg if the progress is this slow?
I am not sure what to reply to this, tbh. Are you a patreon, or? You can just reach out to me on there and I'll refund you the previous 3 months

There is not really much else to say than that it's the AI CG that *is* the slow part. The coding, writing and world building was mostly done back in October. You can definitely get "decent" results for personal use relatively quickly with stable diffusion, but for "professional use", it suddenly becomes very time-consuming between inpainting to fix anatomy (hands especially), sharpening faces, cutting out backgrounds, and so on. For reference, I'm at probably around half a million images generated by now, of which 75,000 were worth saving. I will admit that I have definitely spent too much time on certain pieces where I should have just moved on and accepted an early result, but I've tried to regularly do refunds on Patreon as an apology for the missed deadlines. As an example of the art process:

Anyway, for now, just a demo of the updated world and graphics:

For comparison lol:

Anyone that saw the patreon posts understands that you're doing good work. If I had to give any feedback on the game so far, from what I've played, is that by far the biggest issue was getting around. Getting from point A to point B in the castle took too long. I remember finding a shortcut on a painting but that was it. Other than that, the lighting is a bit too extreme (a bit too bright) and the small collision issues (in the video you posted above you get stopped from moving on some stairs, for example) are all I hope to improve. I'm looking forward to the overhauled art release. Keep it up!

Seriously seriously appreciated man

I thought I had actually fixed the slope limit but only realised I had only botched it even more when I was already filming. Has been fixed now (and was about time because stairs have been sort of annoying to get up for a couple of releases now). On the lighting, I'm definitely playing around with it and figuring out what works best, so the input is very much appreciated. I think it mostly works for the outside areas, but the corridors have become a little too "foggy" again.
There is a map now that'll show quest locations if tracked from the quest log, which should at least reduce the time spent aimlessly running, and there are new fast travel points accessed from paintings around the castle (briefly seen in the courtyard and common room area in the video)! I'm definitely keeping an eye on feedback here ofc and might bump up the base movement speed a bit

For the lighting, to clarify, I do mean outdoors. Indoors I don't remember having issues with it. I however tend to be more sensitive with lighting so I would say get more opinions on that. For moving around the castle I understand adding more portraits is more work but that could be a decent solution. It certainly is a throwback to old games that had that mechanic. In this sort of game, if the portrait also happens to be spicy, that's a plus.

We have a few plans for the portrait lady, yup!
And got it. Gonna test around with it a bit and might put in a settings option to lower global lighting. On review, I definitely see where you're coming from here tbh. Thanks a lot for the input man!
