I felt the same. The other kind of drama I just tune out and am tempted to skip because it's so boring.
I feel like that with a lot of games and their drama. Most of it is external to the people involved with the MC and that doesn't interest me.
Like here it was Ryker and a group of people I gave zero fucks about. I did enjoy the drama with Charles because it involved the girls. He pushed Liz to change and the sex thing, he was on at Harper trying to get rid of her and that was interesting. It's like we were trying to help the girls keep away from him and Harper keep her job then it was all Ryker.
I'll have to admit that drama bores the piss out of me.
I keep seeing people say stories need conflict or they are just sex fests without consequences but the problem there is the drama doesn't hold any tension especially in games like this because it's impossible to lose. The story isn't going to kill off anyone, it isn't going to have the girls taken by anyone and the MC won't suffer anything prolonged.
Drama is a distraction, nothing more.
Like a certain overhyped game that recently got an update that has a cop "stalking" the MC and filmed an innocent kiss at night. What does that add to the story?
Absolutely nothing, it just takes attention away from the story people actually give a shit about.
Here we have rid of Ryker and his bitch boys and i'd like to see how Jasmine explains how she seemingly knew nothing of her boyfriends exploits who was she was obviously in love with. I'd like to see how they put the team back together now they lost more players. I'd like less of the Ryker stuff now he's gone.
Drama is awesome in a game/tv show/movie/book that has actual consequences. Like in Game of Thrones that killed off main characters. Drama had actual tension because you never knew who was going to die next but knew someone certainly was.
THAT is drama.
Ryker served to make people dislike him and Damien but didn't add anything in the way of drama or conflict because we all knew he wasn't going to win. There is no tension or conflict because the MC was never going to lose to him.
