Hi, I really want to play this game from half month ago, since I read new update will be coming. But now it postponed without eta, I have few questions.
1. If I play now, will I need to start a new game when the update hits? because it has reworked scenes if I'm not mistaken.
2. Roughly how many hours of playtime as of right now?
3. Will old saves work when the update come?
That's all for now, thankyou before for your answers.

1 it's one scene from just before this update that has a reworked scene. Should just have to reload a save from before that scene when the new update comes out, there's maybe 10-15 minutes of story content between that scene and where the new update will start at.
2 I can't quite remember how long it is so far, I don't think it's much more than 5 maybe 6 hours, and that might be over estimate, but there is a good chunk of content so far.

While I didn't play WVM from the very first update, I never had the impression it ever was just a chain of porn scenes. More like what the games you mentioned (and that I like most of very much) might look like if they had a harem with 50 girls instead of ~2-3 love-interests.
Shauna and her problems as well as the family dynamic with Azel were introduced right from the beginning. There always were sections with 'just' a lot of talking too. Also, the sections with a lot of sex mostly occurred from that many characters being introduced in such a short time frame, not from the story itself not having no content besides those scenes - there were loads of story scenes in there.
Therefore we have some kind of gaussian curve. In the beginning, when getting familiar with the MC and his initial surroundings, there is little sex - then we get to know like 50 love-interests and start their paths in ~5 days which goes hand in hand with a lot more sexy stuff - and now that those love-interests are established too, everything calms down a little again.
The only thing changing this up a bit is if you play the cheat-route - which I understood from right when I started as 'If you want some more sex scenes right now, you can cheat - otherwise, you will get to those eventually later in the story - which is what I chose.
You do know that this isn't the only place people talk about this game, right? If there isn't an estimated release date, all forums, Discord, Patreon, etc. will be much more cluttered with requests for a release date. Having an estimated release date gives people something to point to and something to reference, so they don't have to constantly ask.

There is a significant difference between a backstory piece that serves to give a character you chose to be involved with depth, and a botched attempt at world building that comes way too late to feel part of the game, the latter of which I was actually talking about. The character models used to be all different and the staging of the scenes used to all have great variety. Bailey, Shauna, Zoe, Liz, Penny, Jamie, and even much less frequently seen characters like Rainn and Stacy (used to) have very distinct appearances with clearly fleshed out styles that make them unique, based on which it is justified to include them in a harem, and give them enough attention to care about who they are. Now it's pointless to include any newer character, because they all look alike. 99% of the recent content is some doe-eyed sluts, that all appear to be the same identical mesh with the tiniest amount of morph, different hair and face texture, creepily staring at you with the same dead expression while there is some dialogue rolling that you don't care about, because it's not a conversation piece between you and your love interest to give the character some depth through a backstory piece, but a rushed attempt at world-building that came too late to feel like the integral part of the game, so it feels like baggage instead. This game devolved in every single aspect I can think of after the events at the bowling alley, what I considered to be the highlight of the entire game so far, because it finally introduced an actual, real element of danger to what was nothing but a pipe dream so far. Everything that happened after the MC returned home is a total disservice to what once was a good harem game.

I'd have to replay the game to really analyze if or to what amount I might feel the same (regarding the decreasing quality).
From the top of my head, the newer additions were mostly side girls though, and like with me not going the cheat-path, I was never really that interested in them. So I didn't feel like the story deteriorated to a point where I didn't care about it anymore. I'm still looking forward to how the story unfolds.
That said, experiences are subjective and I really appreciate your detailed response!
While your first statement for me sounded like 'If a game is centered around porn scenes in the beginning, there shouldn't be real story(building) introduced later, for that doesn't fit what the initial audience expects and loves about the game.', which is so much besides my own gaming experience it baffled my how WVM could have been perceived that way, your explanation seems to more point towards the game progressing in a for you negative way.
Like you, I really like(d) the girls each having their own niche and being that unique. You can't have 50+ completely unique girls though, there obviously are limits. That never was a problem for me though, girls I'm not interested in, are just part of the background for me. Clients, Rainbow-Girls, Rachel , more unique newer girls like Tali - they aren't as important to me and not part of my felt 'core group' that needs the girls in it to be more unique than the 'background noise'. While I wasn't that interested in Ruby/Moon for now and I like their new models - we'll see how I like them when I actually see them with the other girls.
Different from you I don't feel like BD tacked some worldbuilding onto the game after update X though (for now?). For me, it was more that we get to know more background-story every other update while we find out what's going on with the MC's family, Ryker, and WVM.
As in revealing/solving a mystery - so naturally there was less background at the beginning for it was just an athlete having a friend and attempting to go to college - no need to write essays about. I actually felt - and still feel like BD planned and planted seeds beforehand a lot. It's what led to all those discussions in this thread about what even slight things only hinted at in a single picture might mean for the whole.
I would second that some of the girls lost some of their uniqueness with the story unfolding - but for me that makes sense and isn't bad per se. When introduced each girl stood for itself or her role in a small group like the cheerleaders. Now they are part of a very big group and start to overlap and mingle. For the group as a whole that makes sense and helps knit them together.
They also still are different from each other through their own stories.

I appreciate that you responded in kind. You explained your view of the content clear enough that I exactly know what you mean, but it didn't change my admittedly very different perception of the same content. It's not just the newer character models that appear to be a copy-paste of the same base mesh, the scenes look all alike as well. Same pose and same expression, same view of the same characters shoulder up from one scene to the next, all of it is just looks dull and repetitive now for me. That is however just one opinion, which is nobody under any obligation to validate, so I'm not here to win any pointless arguments, I'm just expressing a view.
I'm not going to bother going back in the thread to find the posts talking about blueballing, but there've been a couple. I don't get this claim. There's been sexual content in every update. Right now, one of your girls is exploring a particular kink called edging, which is why you're not blowing your load in game.
For me the story seems a little outlandish, but show me a porn game where it isn't? The story flows well, the girls still seem like different people to me, and I'm pretty happy with the game as a whole.
For those of you that this isn't true - I'm sorry the game hasn't been as enjoyable for you as it has for me. You are, of course, entitled to your own set of tastes.
As for the update complaints: Every time he's set a new release date, I've seen it as "it'll come out shortly after my eyes get better" not a specific day, because I know, and everyone should know, that health issues like that aren't super predictable, so I don't see this as a series of delays. Just one where we've been getting updates on the Dev's health periodically. That communication, as much as the fact that they pause their Patreon is the reason I have no issues with this. There are a lot of games that I've wanted to see continue that have very little communication about what's going on, and no updates, and that's horrible. The games feel abandoned, but no one is saying that they are.
If BD were working with a big team, with a company behind them, offering release dates for games, I would get upset. I'm sure we can all think of AAA titles that have done worse, though, than what's happened here, and at least here we know the why.
