You would think that a grown man would respect his own word better.
The problem is that his Patreons are reinforcing his mental issue. He needs a push to release something, to get out of the rabbit hole he is int.

But his Patreons keep reinforcing the viscious circle that Braindrop is in, allowing him to keep up with the excuses without accountability

Every poll Braindrop does is a call for help, and every time Patreons keep sllowing him to pospone a release, they are denying him that help

that's the problem, not the fact that he has multiple things happened to him that pushed him into a depression, nope, it's all because patreons are "reinforcing his mental issue."

Well they keep voting for longer wait times ... thus making him change things on the update over and over again caus hes getting more time to doubt himself

Yeah, thats the problem

You cant change what happens to someone, but you can change what you do to help that someone

If they keep pushing him down every time he asks for help to be able to get over the problems he had, then they are the problem

If everyone just shut down when bad shit happened to them. This world would stop and everyone would die off. At some point you need to push forward and continue to on. So if his patreon supporters are going to keep giving him money and keep voting for him to delay the game and bring it out when its ready. Than yeah they kind of are part of the problem.

Life is always going to knock your ass down. Get back up and move forward.

People act like having mental health issues excuses Braindrops actions, but it really doesn't. You can have mental health issues, depression, ADHD, and still be a liar.

At the end of the day, this is just another broken promise in a long line of broken promises. People like to remind everyone like "oh back in the day he was pumping out content every week", yeah three years ago. The truth is that this game has had constant delays and last minute issues that delay release for over half of its life time.

This is not new behaviour from BD, this is just the way he conducts his business. He is surrounded by an echo-chamber of yes men who tell him to take his time every time he stubs his toe, and its really destroying his reputation.

Yesterday he made a comment on Discord that he was going to just release what he had done (on the 29th as he said he would several weeks ago), but that "he might be busy so hes not sure". Man, you're self-employed, bro. You make your own deadlines. Why would you double book yourself on your big release day, a release day that is supposed to renew your word and make people trust you again? It was either another lie or he has rubbish time-keeping, and neither is really a good excuse.

Yes he clearly has mental health issues, but that doesn't excuse his behaviour. For whatever reason, hes still lying. And yeah the majority of adult-game creators are kids so they have dogshit work ethic and don't care, but that still doesn't really make it ok. Hes earning crazy money on Patreon, more than most of us make, and it is scammy behaviour no matter how you frame it.

The 1st/2nd of July are right around the corner (tomorrow, lol) so we'll just have to wait and see. If he does release something well thats great, and I really hope that he feels like he can. For his sake more than anything.

Wow, we did not even get a fancy sob story to go with the delay....
Honestly, the game died a year ago, now it is all just on keeping the show up to get a bit more out of it, pausing Patreons every now and then to keep people thinking that something might come, giving dates for 6 months now and some actually still believe them :D
Nothing new we did not see on this Website done by other Devs countless times before, and it never ended well for the project.

Why am I not surprised that BD didn't live up to his promise again. At this point they just need to mark this game as abandoned and get it over with because it's obvious that he doesn't want to give any of his fans anything and has lost all the trust that most of us had for him. It's also obvious that he has no respect for us and doesn't want to work on the game anymore.

If anyone really believes that what Braindrop has is a problem of his content being so bad that is not release worthy, then they are delusional

What Braindrop has is fear, he is terrified of releasing the content, so much, that he cant make that decision. That's why he keep making excuses and delays, he is unable to make the decision to release the update, and thats why he has made like 5 polls already about releasing what he has or not.

he needs the decision to be made by someone else because he cant do it himself, but the Patreons he has are unable to realize that and keep pushing him down

Tbh i would have agreed with this post if there was proof that he did anything at all. But as of right now nope I don't think it's fear it's just plain old procrastination. And there is a cult following that exists to enable it so who the fuck knows what's what anymore. Also, everyone is going through something so that whole tired ass "he's down bad" excuse is played out. At some point you need to just say it's you and do better not say "I'll hit it hard tomorrow!" but what can I do right now to change my circumstance? That's the difference between people that have shit to do and get done and people that will meander, gaslight, and blame circumstance. This dude is in the prime of his life making crazy capital has started a family and can provide for said family what is the issue with his life really? If it can't be quantified it's something not worth thinking about everyone in some form or fashion has ADHD and are or was depressed in their life, everyone living today has experienced loss BD isn't special in this regard. That's not to say that he deserves no sympathy but how long is this shit going to go on, how long is the dev going to look for sympathy? Shit, a lot here are less sympathetic with people they actually know so the well has run dry for him as to be expected. Now people just want the results of his 10-month long hiatus which honestly isn't that crazy of a notion since this is how he makes his money so where is the fruit of that almost year-long labor?

Uh, he's making like 20~ grand a month on Patreon.. I'm pretty sure it's far more simplistic than you're claiming.

If anything, He fears ending this game, and losing all those patreons, and having to creating something new that people will enjoy.

Creative work is a more difficult matter than many people know or acknowledge. I can tell you from my own experience, as well as from observing some devs, that you can very quickly write yourself into a wall because you want too much: too many ideas to work with, too many characters to introduce, and so on.

The current situation reminds me of the classic Simpsons episode, in which Mr. Burns lost his nuclear power plant because of bad business decisions and he surrounded himself with too many yes-men. His patreons, although they mean well, realize that BD needs to be pushed kindly but firmly in the direction of just sending his content to his beta testers and then fixing potential bugs according to the reports and then just releasing what he has. There is a relatively appropriate expression: The path to hell is paved with good intentions.
