It's funny to see new people come in and become disgruntled with Brain Dead after a couple months of excuses, this shit been going on for damn near half a decade lol, one of the most effective business models I've ever seen, this man must be applauded.
And he comes back in few days/weeks like nothing happened and repeats the same shit again. Its like we are stuck in a loop.
15 years later, and on sept 17 EA will finally be releasing a new skate game. wonder if by 15 years of wvm we'll even make it to an actual basketball game

Crazy that this game so obviously a Patreon scam at this point but it's still so popular. I constantly see it in most popular lists and more than a few AVN_Lovers subreddit posts asking if it's been abandoned. Meanwhile a game like My Dorm has probably more than double the content, more animations, the same type of "date every girl and get them all pregnant" plot, and yet it puts out quality releases every two months. Hell, Grandma's House is the same too but with 4-5x the content released, albeit no animations.

At this point? yah, definitely.
Even if you put aside how BD acts as a dev/grifter/scammer, the quality of the game dropped off a cliff.
When I read your post my first thought was 'but it's actually better than both of them', one of them is crazy needlessly wordy and 500 LI's and the other is an absolutely mindless fuck-fest that stopped bothering with any semblance of anything else. now, don't get me wrong, I like both of them and I seriously respect both developers for both the content and their work ethic, but the games have their issues.
And at its prime WVM really was better than both, it was reasonably well written (although a somewhat childish power-fantasy with a Garry Stu as MC), great renders and had a very good balance of text-to-scenes ratio, but that's no longer the case IMO.
It is a mindless fuck-fest with 500 LI's while any kind of plot is taking a backseat for more meaningless sex with LI's that are named after colors, and while the quality of the renders used to be a REALLY REALLY strong point back in 2021, the rest of the genre caught up and there are tons of games with similar quality or better renders.
That's the reason I stopped caring a long while ago, even if BD magically returns to his glory days of consistent, large updates - the direction the actual content took is not for me if I'm being charitable, and just not good in general if I'm honest.
But yah, the way both WVM and BD used to be left a mark that people refuse to let go even after over 3 years of grifting.

I think WVM had the potential to be greater than Grandma's House.
I like GH but 90% of the dialogue is textual grunting (if i read "Mmm", "Ahh" or "Zzz" for much longer I'll lobotomize myself).
As for My Dorm, I dropped that the second clones were introduced. Instead of focusing on the family members and the incoming students, I saw the upcoming spiral of "Here's a clone of X you can also bang" which would inflate the roster to no end.

Where's the cult? I said it had more potential. BD fucked it up by missing releases and fragmenting updates, then lying about everything.
If he had continued as he did the first year, it wouldn't even be a discussion. While the majority of GH dialogue is moans and snoring, at least WVM offered hefty dialogue, but the "delays" (read: laziness) held it back.

Wait, getting pieced up... where exactly did that happen? Here it doesn't matter much when they tell him, but on Discord it's a different story. Every time there's a small uprising, he ends up losing a few good Patreon subscribers.
At the end of the day, only his crazy Discord cult members keep paying him for doing nothing.
And you're right, that's the whole point of this guy not being able to admit his mistakes. I mean "admits," but he justifies himself, and generally these justifications are ridiculous, each one more than the last.
You see, BD says: yes, I screwed up, but it's not my fault. This, this, and the other thing happened to me. Please understand.
It's not admitting it, it's justifying it. It's so simple that it would be telling the truth like this:
"Guys, for the past few years I've been suffering from burnout due to overwork at the beginning of WVM. The truth is, I haven't been able to overcome it, even though I've tried, which has caused me to make promises one after another and not be able to keep them.
But I intend to overcome this. I won't make big promises. I'll start with monthly updates, but they won't be too big. I'll find a balance so I don't overburden myself again."
Well, let's be honest, BD will never say something like that. His ego is so fragile that he's created multiple personas, at least online, to support himself, like McKenzie or Dyonix.
