Damn, that looks like a leap of faith, and all that. Hope Stolen_rose will be fineI've quit my job. Now, can I afford to do this? No. I'll have a few months to work on Zero End full time and settle things, but I'll need to find another place to work eventually. I have some money saved and it'll hold until... June, maybe?

Hello and Happy New Year!
It's been a bit, hope everyone's doing well! The winter holidays are done and gone, the rest is at an end and I've started work on the game. Well, I started about a week ago, but I wanted to wait with the update so I can deliver some news after it's been confirmed. I've mentioned working a day job and working on Zero End at the same time has been very difficult for me and I was thinking of a solution. So I've come up with one. I've quit my job. Now, can I afford to do this? No. I'll have a few months to work on Zero End full time and settle things, but I'll need to find another place to work eventually. I have some money saved and it'll hold until... June, maybe? In the meantime, I realized that game designer positions require knowledge of Unity or Unreal. I haven't used these because the project I was on used some proprietary stuff. As I don't like Unity very much after that very funny prank, I've decided to go for Unreal. So now I'm learning Unreal, working on the game, and still working at my job because I'm only off starting mid-February. But hey, more time for Zero End for a few months. I hope I can wrap the second chapter up with the new available time.
Apart from that, I'm fairly ahead with the writing now so I can focus on renders the following week. I've been loving what I managed to do with the most recent ones (I'll post a preview shortly). I'm off to a birthday party now, but I'll be back with updates soon (not taking a month this time, I promise).
May the little light available this month give you plenty of D vitamin!

I'm not worried about character bloat. It's all the external problems that concern me. This isn't the of job you can take long or repeated breaks from and expect to succeed with short bursts of activity. Like we've learned watching digi.B working on Artemis, it's not just the long breaks that get you. It's the overlooking all the little things you forget about during that time. That 3-4 month break quickly turns into 6+ months of wasted time after just trying to get back up to speed. That if you don't lose critical data, like character models, as other devs have done.adding anothewr char doeasn't sound so good to me considering how much time pass between updates and thatwhen working job take on dev will have not so much time...i hope dev will finish this game soon.story is amazing (sex swcenes not so much..the few that are there...s i'm here for the story and lore and hope this will see an end ..and i mean a proper end not the usual rushed ones we have been givern often
She's not a love interest, I wouldn't introduce a love interest at the halfway point, but she was needed for the story.adding anothewr char doeasn't sound so good to me considering how much time pass between updates and thatwhen working job take on dev will have not so much time...i hope dev will finish this game soon.story is amazing (sex swcenes not so much..the few that are there...s i'm here for the story and lore and hope this will see an end ..and i mean a proper end not the usual rushed ones we have been givern often
Not sure what you got that from, but the issue with the delay isn't due to a long break. Longest time off I took was a 2-week vacation. I've been producing content weekly, just at a much slower pace because it was very hard to focus (burnout).I'm not worried about character bloat. It's all the external problems that concern me. It's not my favorite VN, but it's the one I'm most interested in. I want this to succeed. Maybe she's being too transparent in development. I'm just worried that anything short of the best case scenario ends with this game being abandoned. It already feels like it'll be a miracle if we ever see the next update if you look at what's been going on since August. She hopes to finish chapter 2 during this time off, but how much content is that? A lot? A little? We know both too little and too much to feel comfortable with what's going on.
cool, thanks for replay and great job with this game...i love the story and characters too. i wish you all the good in hope to see an update soon.thanksShe's not a love interest, I wouldn't introduce a love interest at the halfway point, but she was needed for the story.

I don't know what to say about being too transparent, I feel like there's clearly a problem (the delay) and discussing the cause and what I'm doing to remedy it is better than not addressing the issue.
As for the probability of Zero End being abandoned, the way I see it is that taking it slow and not pushing myself more and more to get the release out on time is the best way to avoid that. The only way I see for me to abandon it is that I'm just incapable of continuing. Managing the burnout and taking a healthier approach to the game's development may delay the releases, but I'd rather updates come out slower than not at all.
And I know I said releases would be 5-6 months apart, but the size of releases has doubled since I said that. I think trying to keep to the self-imposed schedule despite that was (part of) what drove me to burnout.
"Nearly HALF-WAY" ?? so another 8 months i gess!! before release next update. The game is great i just hope more people suport. You must be registered to see the links
Hello!
I have returned with news. It's not a whole lot of stuff, but there's some stuff I wanna talk about. It probably won't turn into a 500 word essay, but I've been writing today and I'm still in the flow, so who knows.
Since I already mentioned that, I got some writing done today. It wasn't really necessary until now as I was quite ahead, but I've finally caught up and I'm about 3 scenes behind with the visuals, so I started writing again and finished a scene that I had hanging for a while. Also started a new one.
The more interesting part is the visuals: I got a lot of renders done since last I gave an update and we're about halfway done (as well I can tell without having the text finished). I actually have some really cool shots I wanna share with you.
On a more personal note, I'm still working at my job, but next week is my last at the company. I can't explain how excited I am. It's gonna be scary, not gonna lie, it's quite a risky step, but it's pretty thrilling too.
Now, before I go, I wanna share some stats with you. I've been hesitant to share details about where the release is at, exactly, because I was ashamed with myself. But I think it's best I be specific as I feel it may do more harm than good being evasive about it. So, here it is:
- Word Count ~14k (this one's harder to estimate)
- Static renders: 1174
- Animations: 5 animations of about 26 seconds total
Overall, we're about halfway done. I hope that helps in clarifying where we're currently at with the release.
Hope you're having an amazing day!

"Am I too damaged for you?"
The genre or playstyle might not be for everyone, but the quality is undeniable.Holy fuck godamn how have I only just got around to this!!! Absolutely awesome and riveting....shit, that last line!!! How did I not see that one coming.
Damn this was just truly amazing from start to finish!
Mav, didn't you know about this gem? I was lucky enough to find it in January last year and bought it shortly afterwards. This was on the first page (top 30) for a long time if you looked at the games in the 'latest updates' section and sorted them by best rating.Holy fuck godamn how have I only just got around to this!!!
