Zombie's Retreat is a short survival-ish game where you, as a teenager, get into a zombie situation with your mother, sister aunt and other older women with very similar body types. The gameplay is basically scavenging a couple of places, grinding to find wood and metal to create the new object needed to proceed while improving your relationship in an insanely fast pace with your blood relatives and random older women. The combat is very simple, inspired on old Resident Evil games, you have low ammo, you have to dodge, and later you get to kill everything. There are nice bosses to fight, some secret scenes and a good amount of scenes despite being a very short game. The art is nice, good on the static sprites but get a downgrade when you get an actual scene. Specially if is animated, it does not look very good compared to other art ingame. You will notice that every female character is pretty much the same model with a couple of tweaks, even more when certain scenes are just the same as others but with a different quasi-equal girl. Games like that usually get you by the slow progression and build up. There is none here, despite a character being your mother and other your sister, the relationship happens almost instantly. One would expect a bit more of development to finally get the scenes. But my biggest gripe with Zombie's Retreat is that half of the scenes you get were drawn in a specific angle in order to avoid body parts to show. I Believe this has to do with censorship, a common occurrence in japanese games. The scene is made to avoid having to put mosaics on it. For me it soured the game since I never knew if the next scene would be even worth getting considering the hidden parts. Very unfortunate decision from the developer. Not only that, the game is very strictly vanilla, without many different options happening or different stuff, so it is also a bit boring. I do not recommend but also don't say it is a mediocre game, it is just a bit bland.
Good game, has a unique combat system which is the standout part of this RPGM game. Art and scenes are pretty good. The premise is good, though the story itself is not interesting. Fairly easy to obtain the scenes which is good. 7.7/10
Gameplay is solid, takes a fair amount of time to manage resources/continue on path to next scene.
Art quality is fine, not the best, not the worst. Minimal voice work which is really just moans, which I prefer instead of cringe dialogue, so good job there.
The progression felt too forced for a lot of the characters, and overall there wasn't really any scenes the stood out to me as much as town of passion for example. I would recommend playing through it, but it is by no means a masterpiece.
Overall the game is fine, the real selling point here is the art which is really well done overall. My main issue is that the gameplay sucks, if you want a game to play here then it's very barebones, and the actual gameplay isn't really interwoven with the H content very much. Beyond that it's a bit slow and often times it feels empty. Still, if you don't mind some subpar gameplay and meh writing then the art is definitely worth it.
I really like the art style of this game. I don"t remember the name of the artist but this is my favorite out of everything that they have made. The gameplay of this is a little bit simplistic but it is engaging enough to not be boring. The early game is kind of grindy but by the late game it is much improved and much less of a hassle.
Still one of the legendary games, and arguably one of the best RPGM games out there. If you're the kind of person who doesn't want to play hard (tip: the only cheat you need is the ammox99 one, or if your game lags with the movement of the zombies, then throw in a little health boost, dont make it x99), doesn't want to read stuff like in VNs, likes clothed sex scenes, and likes his/her MILFs to look, like, eternally young, then this is highly recommended.
IMO the scenes are very hot and intimate, I think Siren's (or ScarletAnn's) tastes are similar to mine. This is a very good fap game that I'd surely mention if I ever get to be asked for a recommendation.
Only cons that come to mind are, not enough creampie scenes, like for Natasha and one Rachel Scene, and the lack of the human version of the prof riding scene. Also, it could've been more fun if there were more "outdoor" clothed scenes. And JESSIE! Goddamn, I need more scenes of that hot redhead. Still, like I said, the scenes are very hot, so I guess an okay trade-off.
I loved it. Game is pretty easy and can be played with mouse only but in combat you need both hands iirc, gameplay is simple and overall is pretty fine.
I'm going to replay it with some mods, I wonder how big the changes will be
Despite my rating there are some cons.
CGs at the start are fine i guess but definitely worse than everything after them.
HUD sucks in my opinion, menu has several unnecessary windows and subcategories, craft menu tracks percentage of recipes you've made but doesn't show which items you've already made.
Also, Z-choice as a mechanic sucks. It lets you see only one variant of cg that has two variants. Thankfully, it happens only twice in the whole game and can be kept untouched as long as you want. I hope Z-choice doesn't return in the sequel
Good game. Took me a couple hours to complete, but I enjoyed it immensely. It definitely feels like it drags on at certain points, but it's not too bad. Could've been better with more sex scenes, especially the gloryhole one. That was my favorite by far.
Definitely recommend it to anyone who's a fan of zombies, resource management, exploration, and some supernatural.
Zombie's Retreat is just an excellent title from the Siren's domain team.
It's a simple yet entertaining survival zombie game, where you progressively discover more things for you to explore.
Definitely the best thing of the game is the art style from ScarletAnn, which makes the survivors pretty hot.
The animations of the H-scenes are also pretty good compared to other games.
I had a lot offun with it, and even with its relative long completion time (~12+ hours). There is a lot to enjoy in this game.
If i was to rank this with Resi games it would be in the top four. It's simple and fun survival horro, but past the midway point you will be drowing in supplies. Also it pulls a "call of pripyat" on you, where i was super hyped to get to the last area, and it turned out to be nothingvile, like there's just 4 buildlings, and the hotel is there for maybe 2 things for you to do, really small and short last act
As for the porn game, the animations are okay, drawings are all the same super bimbo type which isn't my thing really. Scene hunting was fund, but really drawn out, like talk to this girl at this time, go to her room at this time, then you can take her out to one place and get a scene. That could've been more open ended and cut the game time in half. Overall i looked forward to playing it.
Note: I am reviewing version 1.0.4 of the game, which has been marked as completed. I played through once on normal mode.
STORY
The specifics may not be what you expect, but the basic outline is something you could guess from the title. There are zombies at a camp, there are zombies, and the main characters have to fight to survive. As you progress through the game you learn more about the camp and those left in it. This is fine, though the way things are set into motion is contrived. A man attends summer camp shortly before going off to college and being joined by his “maid” and “tutor?” Okay.
None of the main character's eventual housemates are breaking new ground when it comes to characterization, but they are all reasonably characterized and different enough from one another to keep things interesting. Each of these characters gets a couple of chances to really shine in the sex scenes, though some characters naturally get more chances than others.
. The progression through these characters' stories is pretty good, and each one is given a nice mix of things they need you to find, things they need you to craft, and excursions they need to go on with you. These quests keep the tedious treks out into the camp looking for crafting trash from being complete bores.
The intrigue around the camp is find, although personally
GAMEPLAY
This game is something of a throwback to when zombie survival games were all the rage. The credits mention a particular which this one owes a certain amount of inspiration to for instance.
What we have here is a top down action/adventure/survival game made in RPG Maker. Thankfully we are spared typical RPG Maker combat and instead get real time action. As you can imagine the engine isn't really built for that, but the shooting works decently enough. I played on normal mode, and I only found myself dying couple times early on while I learned how the normal enemies functioned, and later on to so more challenging bosses.
I'm fine with the combat as it is, but the survival portion of the game bores me to tears. I've never been a fan of the genre, and this game does nothing to change that. Searching through garbage looking for crafting resources isn't very engaging, and I don't fine it any more so after I've looted each location five times already.
I prefer it when everything in an adult game is no more than a couple steps removed from its adult nature. I don't mean that I want to see a sex scene every couple steps mind you, just that I think games that keep most of the gameplay and story close enough to romance and eroticism are better than games that have hard lines between the “game parts” and the “sex parts.” Unfortunately the gameplay here feels about as removed from the sex as the main heroines are from the outside world when not escorted by the main character.
PRESENTATION
The character artwork is quite nice. The artist Scarlett Ann, also known for their work on Milf Airline, provides most of the character and sex scene artwork, and it's all pretty good. There are a few scenes here and there that look a bit awkward, especially those found early on in the game. Other artists provide some other pieces seen in the game's collectible photos.
The “in-game” graphics are passable. You likely won't be confused by what you're looking at, but little of it is likely to make a lasting impression. It's just okay sprite work and backgrounds without much character to them.
The music is fitting and does its job. It's not annoying or weirdly out of place. The sound effects are fine, and what voice work there is makes the scenes they are in more engaging.
If I have a criticism about the presentation portion of the game it's that the characters are all a bit too similar in body type. If you like incredibly stacked women do I have good news for you, that's all you're getting in this game. Big boobs are a wonderful thing, don't get me wrong, but when every character in a work featuing a lot of women has them their impact is weaker. The size we're talking about shouldn't be understated either. If you saw one woman with proportions like any of these that would leave you gobsmacked, and the main character finds himself surrounded by them. I think some restraint would have lead to some much needed variety that would help make each character more memorable and enticing in their own way.
OVERALL
While Zombie's Retreat does have its problems, it is certainly an enjoyable experience if you are in the mood for an adult game. Though the gameplay is tedious the character interaction and individual stories keep you going. It's not mindblowing zombie fiction, but it's not another high school dating sim or loser being sent to another world where he gets lucky all the time for no good reason. The artwork is a far cry better than whatever you will find in literally every single game using stock models or worse, assets ripped from other games entirely. If you enjoy the obviously implied fetishes (take on look at the name of the files in the pictures folder) and like what you see in any preview screenshots you're even more likely to enjoy it.
gameplay: good
art :very good (i love deez art style)
animation: ok (it like motion comic)
story :good
character: great
my play time 10 hr+
but i can't lower moan sound in option it too dam loud
I'll not go into much detail and keep it short since there is very little to talk about but long story short this just a failed attempt at remaking or reinventing A Zombie's Life by Nergal. ZL is already pretty abysmal in terms of gameplay, story structure and player goal so it isn't that hard to fix that in a new game. And this game almost does that in a lot of ways. The scavenging is much more streamlined, the crafting is slightly more detailed and cohesive and the story is a bit more structured. But sadly this game still ends up falling short due to the very tedious gameplay loop and the lack of player goal. There is lot to praise that has been improved compared to ZL like for example there are minor ui improvements, there is a overworld map and fast travel with it, you have to click less randomly to get supplies from pixels and the new quest system. They even added some dynamic flavor text so completing some event or quest in any order will have the appropriate dialogue or reaction so it doesn't feel robotic or out of place. The post game content is also a nice touch. But the combat is still horrendous, scavenging may have been streamlined but it still ended up being repetitive af. On top of that dialogue writing is still bad, everything is very oddly robotic in a generic porn game way. This game also follows it's predecessors tradition of having horrible bosses, they don't suck as much as ZL's final boss but they are still very badly designed. The h content is also very samey.
I have a sneaking suspicion the sequel is also the same in structure and has the same issue as this one, So beware.
Nice plot , animations, drawings......the perfect game which has everything.
Games by Siren's Domain are the best do check out the new games as it always provide the awesome long-hour gameplay.
Story 10/10
Animation 10/10
Drawings 10/10
Smoothness in Gameplay and Game mechanism 9/10
This is somewhat Remake of Zombie's Life but is still pretty good.
Excellent game with an interesting story. It's not overly complicated and quite long. Full playthrough for me took 8h according to save game, but I left it on a couple of times so it's probably not quite that long. Still a game I would recommend if you don't mind RPGM.
My only complaints are probably the lack of different body types and the overlap of sex cgs. It makes sense to do it since it saves the artist a lot of work, but at the end of the game it was quite noticable. But nothing big.
A zombie survival RPG where you play young guy on a summer camp trip with his mom and sister (or maid and tutor if you're the Patreon police.) The art is decent though the characters are of the freakishly big titted variety that show up in games like this. The gameplay involves going out, scavenging, crafting items, and fulfilling quest objectives. Repeat until you are done. You have a gun and limited ammo which you can use to kill zombies in a very straightforward way (bullets just travel in a line and kill zombies when they impact them. The writing was so-so. I just found it grindy and not interesting enough to keep grinding.
A superb RPGM game, a nice story with likable characters. Not overly grindie, really a friend for anyone getting into H-games like I was. Great art design, simple mechanics, and good scenes. A good balance of adult scenes and actual gameplay.
As in every RPG you have to do some work before you get anywhere.
The scenes are OK at best. They're animated, but hardly interactable.
Even with cheats it took me 5 hours to beat the game. Without them it would've taken much, much longer. The scenes aren't that great for so much work.
If you're used to playing fast-passed RenPy games, this probably isn't for you. But if you like slow build up and grinding for materials you will enjoy it.
I, obviously, really didn't enjoy this game:
- I understand buxom babes, but these women's breasts are ridiculous. Sure, yeah, it's not my kink, but even then: I feel that a trait is most appealing when it is explored through a range. Such as huge (somewhat realistic) through ridiculous. For example, if you wanted to make a game themed around short-haired girls you'd throw in some pixie cuts and bobs, not go 100% crew cut.
- The player character is a Standard H-Game Protagonist: all the women want him and his monster dong immediately upon meeting him or seeing it. I'd understand it more if some of them went "We're all gonna die here; might as well have some fun" but they don't.
- The passage of time is based on blocks (morning -> midday -> evening) instead of a constantly ticking clock, so you can visit all harvest points in a single time block to significantly cheapen the "survival" aspect.
- It might just be a pet peeve, but the dev really phoned in the "This is not an incest game; please don't ban my Patreon" aspect. Like, who goes on a camping trip with their maid and tutor? Who even has a maid these days? Just make them your mom's friend and her daughter and throw any suspicious threesomes into an incest patch.
