Do I blame Dots? Of course not, he's just taking advantage of his fans like any greedy patreon dev would. The main problem is his supporters. It's just frustrating to see how desperate and gullible people are when it comes to this game, because the market is so damn starved for these fetishes. I'm confident that if he lost a lot of patreon donations when he decided to milk this once every 3 months, that he would have quickly made changes and put this game back on a monthly update. Nothing is stopping him from updating this once a month, he's using patreon as an excuse.

The frequency in which he updates this game is irrelevant and wouldn't change anything with Patreon's TOS, all that mattered was that DMD wasn't listed on patreon and/or listed as the reason he's taking donations. He just chose to focus on his other awful game because he knew it would be the perfect excuse to milk DMD for far more years than he originally could have and you all believe his BS as if it were the gospel. I'm sure he also had a glimmer of hope that the other game could become the next DMD, because 2 games to milk is better than 1, but the truth is he's simply not that talented and the other game lacks the key fetishes that made DMD so successful.

It was timing, a bit of luck and the fetishes chosen that blew this game up. Incest + 3D Loli, don't even try to deny that Elena and the other girl are Loli characters, they blatantly are, regardless of his "dur all characters are 18+" line in the intro. Ever wonder why D sits in this weird uncanny valley of adult/teen and quite literally acts like a 12 year old that is completely unaware of sexuality? Be happy that he promised to continue with this project at all after he being forced to take it off Patreon, and he does work on it regularly, but he also has Melody to work on. Funny how ungrateful people can be, especially those that are getting the game for free, freeloaders are in no place to nag about schedules. Yes it would be great to get updates for DMD on a more regular basis, but at the same time appreciate that he keeps on working on it at all, and why wouldn't he? But he does have Melody too, the VN that he does have on Patreon. His responsibilities are to his Patreon supporters first and foremost. Now, I don't know how many people pay via "buy me coffee" to get instant access to newest DMD releases, but I can't imagine it to be the same caliber as Melody has on Patreon anymore.

But yeah, instead of criticizing his work schedules (in which there are no issues at all by the way, he delivers as promised), you should just appreciate you're getting the updates at all.

And for the record, anything he's done, doesn't qualify as milking by any standards. Want to see milking? Look at the devs that made a game, put it on Patreon, got some people to pay him on a monthly basis and give no updates for a long time, or outright abandon the project, all the while still taking money from people, THAT'S milking, so get off your high horse.

i started DMD when v0.08 was just released and have been hooked ever since. i look forward to every update now.

Melody exists because he had to quickly come up with something, so that the supporters on P would not feel that they were being ripped off.
He has been busting his ass doing two different VN's, not because he wants to, but because he was forced to.
Unlike other game creators, he did not just say oh well, fuck DMD and start up melody, he made a commitment to the DMD followers to finish what he had started

Does that mean that he should speed up and completely change all of his plans, just so that people can see D take a dick? Hell no. His updates are always larger than most monthly release games so while waiting can suck, there is a lot there for people who actually read the story, as the creator intended, and for the people who actually read the story, the sex is not as important as the way the relationship is growing.
As for the people who skip past all of the annoying words, you aren't really playing the game anyway, so why are you complaining?
Honey select makes tons of games where you have to do very little reading, just click and watch the dirty images.

Yeah, he was going to make it, but not at that time. He mentions in the blog in the comments that Melody was intended to be released closer to the end of DMD, not half way thru it, like was forced on him.
