I've been tempted to go back and re-do a lot of the older renders for quite a while, but after taking opinions people seemed to prefer that I spend my time on new content.

Still, I think at some point I might start doing it gradually by re-doing a single 0.1/0.2 day alongside each new update - that way eventually the whole game will hopefully be on a level in terms of graphical quality.
I can understand wanting more content, and I'm all for that as well.

However, like I said, for the time being, you can get away with doing a quick touch over in photoshop, no need to re-render them really.

You could maybe retouch a couple, see how long it takes you to retouch one. And then simply do one or a couple if it doesn't take you too long, and just add them with each new content update, so the biggest ones are done, without wasting too much of your time? Just a suggestion of course.

I am not a fan of reworking.
It takes away from the development of the game. I know of several games that are going through reworks and as a result no updates and stalled developments.
IMO, the dev of "Now & Then" made a great decision by releasing a "Developer Cut" after the completion of the game. The dev cut had retouched artwork as well as added story elements to resolve or improve continuity and plot issues.

Yeah I don't plan on doing anything that would seriously stall the development of new content. The earlier days tend to be much shorter than the later ones, so if I did it alongside the regular new content most of them would only increase the time between updates by about a week on average (Some I could do in a single day, the longest would take a couple of weeks).

Still, I'm not certain I'm going to do it at all yet, so it's all hypothetical right now.

That is totally fine, but, and I say this seriously, you may want to put a warning for people with sensitive eyes to either diminish the luminosity on their screens, or wear some sunglasses.

I was not kidding when I said it was hurting :)

Just caught a minor detail wrong as well:

The date should change on the top left corner.

Well, I'm done. Just under 5 hours of content I think, which is a lot more than I expected originally.
I've gotta say, I was not disappointed. It's rather nice to stumble on a little gem like this amongst the huge pile of trash uploaded daily.

The most disappointing thing, was that I could not buy it on Itch since it's free on it. I do not use patreons or subcribestar, but if you ever enable to payment option on Itch, or ends up selling it on Steam, please @ me so I can buy it :)

I'm not sure if it is even possible to enable payment on Itch considering they are doing everything they can to "distance themselves from adult games". We'll see if they manage any better than OnlyFans did.

Quite a few others are still there, I was not aware they were trying to kill the AVN market on there. Guess everyone will have to migrate to steam then.

I'm glad you're still focusing on new content. The number of games I've seen derailed by people trying to Special Edition-ify or flat-out remake their work is very high. I think the best way I've seen it handled is Harem Hotel, where the dev goes back and adds or remakes a few things per update. His game is more sandbox based, but I think it's still a good idea to self-impose a limit on the amount of tinkering in order to keep forward momentum.

Man, i am really enjoying this game. I like how the girls look and their personalities, and i lke the humor here too.
Hell, even the story has me interested, and i am not skiping dialogues.
BUT, a small thing i noticed is that the CHARACTER BIOS screen, has more info than the game actually tells you (aka: spoilers)
As an example, in the game you know that the headmistress wants something from you, and that there is a "complicated" reason her sister hangs with the bullies. But in the bios screen it outright tells you what is the reason and what the hadmistress actually wants you to do.
Still, this will probably be revealed in 1 or 2 updates so i dont think it is that important.

Cosy knows about this already. Since he was working on 0.4.1 and 0.5 at the same time, a tiny bit of 0.5 info got into the bios.

The problem is that I've seen a number of developers fall into the trap of trying to bring older content up to date as they improve their craft. If you can avoid it while you're developing the story, I feel it would be better. If, once you finish the story, you can't stand the earlier content, then work on it. Probably it would be good to hold the upgrades to any time you might be having a bit of writer's block on whatever project you're working on.

That's just what I would do. I'm actually trying to avoid that trap by starting with short stories that I can do in a few months and then let them be (hopefully).

True, but there's a big issue with a large chunks of AVNs: they take a long time to finish.

As a result, since most take a couple of years to finish, techs and renders' quality changes.
The result there, is that a fairly large chunk of the content, maybe very outdated visually and so on, and will detract new players.

Just take some of the best AVNs finished 5 years ago or so, most of them look like shit by today's standards, because the early renders maybe as old as 10 years.

Even the worse of the newest crap released recently, can potentially rival the best games done years ago visually.
While story progression is essential, upgrading the older stuff is also important, or new players will simply not even reach the new up to date content.

It is a bit of a catch22, since redoing older content will inevitably lengthen the final release, potentially ending up in a loop: having to rework content that simply keeps getting older and older, as you need more and more time to redo the older stuff.
There aren't any magic formulae here, but forsaking the older content until the final release, will likely end up with a large chunk of people dropping the game early on due to its visual aspect.

I am enjoying your story/game so very much. The renders are terrific and the girls are beautiful. The writing is excellent. Would love to see you add some "extreme tags", but, I guess that would be up to you, and of course, you know you can make them optional. For me, right now, it is a very vanilla-type game. Normally, I wouldn't pay attention, but, your writing and the girls already have captured my interest. Thank you.

how long is this update? i want to pledge based on that
If you mean the 0.5 update that just came out for patrons, it's pretty long. Longer than any other update has been, certainly. Play time is relatively unuseful since everyone reads at different speeds, but for me specifically, it was probably ~2 hr of playtime from a save right at the end of 0.4.1.
