why then do the devs give so much weight to their story if not to cause emotions to the reader/player?

To make it relatable. Immersion etc. because sometimes the plot direction sucks and deserves to be called out. I play the game and I immerse myself like many others and when things happen I feel for the characters in the story. Thats what a good story is supposed to do. I am peeved when the MC is wronged and I feel good when he drop kicks the smug asshole in the teeth. Sure ofc. I am not saying otherwise.

But thats not where the it ends. If every time a MC acts in a way that I personally wouldnt, I flip out and quit the game, I'd probably never play another game again. The MC is not me, I am not the MC. I can relate to the MC sure and probably align myself to some degree with the personality the author wrote, but it's not me. Chances are he's gonna do or say some shit that I maybe wouldnt do but that is the story.

Now, sometimes devs have a brain fart and goes off the rails, or lets the devil whisper in their ear and adds some bullshit nobody was expecting, pissing off the player base in the process and and catches justified heat for it. That's all good. They can make the call to fix it, tell the whiners to stfu or implode...lol.

This is how the update ends. While MC was talking to the brunette girl (the one he has been seeing), they were discussing going on a date. Blonde girl suddenly shows up with another girl and tells MC that she bought him a lap dance. MC and the brunette were a bit shocked and didn't know what to do, as MC didn't want to upset brunette girl. But brunette gave him the go ahead after thinking about it for a while.

So, MC leaves to go get said lap dance. But when he returns, he doesn't see either of them (blonde and brunette). As he is heading back to the table, he spots them making out and that is his reaction. Seems rather pissed. Then the update ends.

So, blondie distracted MC and got him to go away, and then when he comes back, blondie has taken his girl and is making out with her.

So as it stands at the moment his reaction is shock, then the update ends. So we don't know if he likes it, or doesn't. Depending on how the next update starts, we can revisit the tags. As of now it's just cheating.

Yea....like I said, it's not how I would have written it at all and it does look sus. I'm generally not a fan of cheap cliffhangers and this seems like it's one of those. Not having it's intended effect...Or maybe it is since we(I) just cant seem to stop discussing it.

He's probably just surprised and will have the best night of his life next update. Unlikely to get the tag and I don't think it should if things play out the way I think they will. Doesn't fit. Its gotta be some form of malicious action of that nature towards the MC. Two girls snogging before eventually sucking off the MC together doesn't qualify. If it's not something you would see a typical antagonist do to cause tension of that nature then it probably doesn't fit the tag. Dont think there are any antagonists that have the hots for the MC and want to jump into bed with him and does this lmao. There I think there could possibly be hentai manga with that plot...Japanese mangaka put a spin on everything.

Oh shit actually no there is a game like that on this site. The MC is little wimp and a futa succubus wants him for herself so she goes around seducing all the women around him so eventually his only option left will be her. Now thats an insane twist lol.

It's not about what I think. It's about what the MC thinks about it. We don't know because the update finished before he said anything else.

There is no taking into account the MC's feelings when it comes to NTR. Whether he likes it or not, the NTR tag is still used.

I didn't skim over it. Our current system states jealousy has to be involved, which is the correct definition. You are correct though, that most games are tagged incorrectly. We stopped using the NTR tag for swinging,sharing etc months ago. If anyone is still uploading them with that, then they have made a mistake.

For me, it doesn't matter how the MC takes it. It's how I take it. I'm not comfortable with it. I'm glad the dev is writing this his way and should continue to do so. As for being calm, I just don't see an actual reason to get upset. People have different tastes and I tried the game and it's not for me. I'm glad others can play and enjoy it.
