So he's been taken to a mafia family under some form of contract & you think he's a "derp" for presuming that the head of the entire crime family would know something about the situation?
Really?
Maybe it's a contract with the uncle. Maybe it's a contract from some other organization saying he has to serve. Maybe it's a contract to guard the daughters in bikinis on a tropical island. Since it's all speculation then yes, really.

Ooo I got another one! He's in this situation because of a contract. Maybe the contract/agreement is on one of the DeLuca family to take care of him! So they brought him to the estate for safety reasons! Maybe a rival crew put out a contract on him but they promised your father they'd always take care of you.

I have to say though the contract thing is kind of strange. In Jersey if you have a contract on you then you better run and hide.

As we go through the story and seasons, we will see a very different mc. For better and worse. Some of his flaws will improve, while others are hard-coded into his personality/being.
That's actually quite encouraging. Thank you for taking some of your time to provide the good intel. :)

i'm sure there is hit contracts in this game's world as well. But if I recall correctly the contracts usually more or less a contract of servitude in most cases in this game.

Precisely my point.
It's not exactly a leap to presume that the head of the crime family holding\honouring the contract would know what the contract is & why he's there.
Yet you somehow think he's a derp, for doing exactly that.

Pawning sons is an important part of ancient world history. It was especially common in the kingdoms. These contracts were made for many reasons, the most common being to enforce loyalty by pledging one or more sons as hostages, or as a sign of trust. Sometimes it was also done to unite two families, e.g. an alliance for the purpose of marriage, etc. One of the best examples is Vlad Dracula and his brother Radu, princes of Wallachia, who were pledged to the Ottoman Empire. These two brothers received the same education and care as the Ottoman princes. As an adult Vlad fought against the Ottomans, while his brother Radu fought against his brother as a valuable friend and general for the Ottoman Sultan. I know that such contracts are still made in the mafia world.

Another good example is Arminius. Born son of the German Cherusci tribe's chief. Taken as a boy by the Romans, as part of a deal for peace.
Subsequently led the Cherusci in one of the Roman Empire's most notorious defeats, in the Battle of the Teutogburg Forest.

Exactly, this is a good example from history. In the game, the probable reason for the hostage of the MC is the dispute between the two families. The actual use of this contractual hostage means "If you betray me, your son will die In fact, that's why when mc's friend finds out about this, he threatens the Deluca family "if he gets hurt" because this is the first thought that comes to his mind. But I think it's the other way round, if Mrs DeLuca knows her son's sexual preference, she knows that he can't run the family because such a situation would have serious consequences in the criminal world. Maybe the condition of the deal is a marriage and heirship.

Certainly plausible. But they've been watching the MC since he was a little child. I don't know if Antonio's sexuality would have been known, at that time, if the contract was already in place when they were watching him in the playground.

I think the contract has something to do with MC's Mother.
We know she was one of the original Serpents, with Cordia.
I think the backstory of MC being poisoned as a child, by his Mother, suggests that she was pretty unstable (despite it later saving his life) & might well have led Cordia to take her old friend's son for protection.

I don't know. I always got the sense she thought she was doing what was best for him and I thought it was because of the contract. Like she thought he'd be better off dead than joining the DeLuca family.

What, you think the reason Rina poisoned MC was because of the contract? That would mean the contract has existed for a loooong time.
IDK about that. There is nothing I can think of in the game that suggests Rina specifically disliked Cordia, or the Family, to provoke that level of reaction.
Why should she have such an aversion to her son joining them?
More importantly, where did the contract come from & why would she agree to it, if she thought poisoning him was a better option than having him join them?

Her doing that subsequently saved his life.
Who's to know if his Mother was actually preparing him for the harsh realities of the mafia life, or if she had gone a bit mental.
We already know she was a little unhinged when she was a Serpent, so I'm not sure of her capacity to adjust well, once she left that life.
