five chapters in five years and developing two games at the same time will not make it faster. So chapter 32 will be released in 2051, do you think it will matter by then, how many chapters are there? By that time not everyone from this thread will be alive. Even in 5 years, most of the players in this thread will forget this game if the development of the game does not stop by then.

Bro, there are so many "ifs" here that I don’t even want to start. Those who extrapolate the required time like this remind me of this guy:

Are you sure that Ocean does not develop his skills over time, does not increase productivity, does not buy new equipment, does not look for other ways to accelerate development?
What if he outsources one of the games to someone else?
What if, after the release on Steam, some gamedev studio notices him and offers to release the game under their brand?
What if he will start a gamedev team himself?

But yeah, if everything stays as it is now, another reworks, lack of hardware (although it's solved at least for a while) and 32-chapters plan, then yeah, the best we may hope is another full season in 4-5 years.

During Covid, many people started playing ren'py games, unfortunately there aren't many games worth playing, and even they are updated on average once a year, and after comparison with the best computer games, people completely give up on ren'py games. You may think it doesn't matter, but it does. Fewer players = fewer games sold = fewer supporters = abandoned game. I wish a was wrong, but statistics is also a heartless bitch!

And five years ago there were only a few AVNs on Steam, and now every second new developer, after releasing a couple of chapters, pushes them to Steam as an early access game. Now many people are discovering this genre who don’t know anything at all about AVN, Patreon, f95 thanks to advertising on Steam.
Over time, everything changes, who knows, perhaps a new engine will soon appear that will completely replace renpy and allow you to do everything much faster than now.

But all this is abstract ramblings. And if we assume that everything will remain as is, then he needs to throw out one game (let’s say it’s WiAB) and reduce the plot of another by four or five times.
So what will happen as a result? Many people, including myself, love SG, not least for the grand scale of the idea, the large amount of details, characters and their intertwines. Well, guess what, instead of that we will get several porn scenes with the main girls and some kind of forced ending. And all this will be called Season 2: The Final.

I don’t know about you, but I won’t play this shit. It's better to spend that time on yet another huba-huba harem sandbox. At least there are jucier lewds.

I am going to ask a question. Sorry I don't know the rules of steam, patreon etc. Why is Summer's gone a issue? As far as content it doesn't seem to be a problem in my eyes as a regular joe. I looked at steams visual novel section and saw some deep stuff. Saw one game guy fucks his mom and sister there is no if and or buts about it they were who they were, furry sex, corruption and other things. Summer's gone compared to some of the stuff I saw couldn't compare. So please enlighten me whats the issue.

As long as he makes ~5000 renders a year, I'm fine. Make it 8000 and I'll be happy.
I'm not a "completionist", I prefer long series over a movie, as long as the author can produce entertaining content.
For me, an abandoned game and a completed game are almost the same thing. If I finish a game and know that there will be no new content, I will forget it very quickly. Leap Of Faith was a favorite of mine while it lasted, now it's just a good memories deleted from my hdd. SG is a game I replay from the beginning every update and always enjoy it.
Season 1 will be the first completed game in a series of games-seasons with a common main plot and characters called Summer's Gone. Like, I dunno, Breaking Bad series.

I'm planning on still being around 27 years from now...

I'm not here to make anyone against Ocean or anything like that (He gave me my favorite MMC after all), just putting this out to shed some light on how things are going and being rational. Pointing out flaws or critizing doesn't make one against it, it simply shows what needs improvement. Moving on...

First of all Nobody knows how long anyone will live and that's wishful thinking that I'll be around that (put any amount of days/months/years/decades) time especially with all these wars on the brink of happening + virus outbreaks, natural death, etc.

Second, you guys need to be rational about things. We got 5 chapters in 5 years (starting from 2019 and yes I'm counting Chapter 5 in it, I know it's not FULL version). 30 chapters are set in stone AT LEAST making it every 5 chapters a season + reworks. YES! I'm counting ATLEAST one rework every 5 chapters and that me being optimistic that we'll get only 1 rework. Rework can be minor or major. Ren'py does version updating too, that's another issue of saves. Who knows if ren'py will be around then or not. Who knows maybe AI will be making AVN's.

Not to forget Ocean is working on two games which is also affecting the delay of updates (look we still didn't get Chapter 5 full version even though ch5 was released way before WIAB release and WIAB already got full version a long time ago) And I don't think Ocean will be abandoning WIAB especially after 2 chapters in AFTER rework and it is way shorter in comparison to Summer's Gone that is if Ocean is not planning on making it SG 2.0 with 30 or some chapters.

So, the game will be completed in 2049 is the most optimistic we can be.
