Finished the game twice. It was really fun. Not to hard but also not to easy (at least for me).

Things I liked:
1. The graphics and music are great.
2. The animated scenes are awesome.
3. The bonuses hidden throughout the map are not to hard to find.*
4. The gameplay is just fun.
5. I love the poison weapons.

Things I didn't like:

1. Some animated scenes are not consistent; the front part of the shoes/heels (around the ankle) is missing which I find a little bit annoying. It would also be cool if our protagonist wore heels in some of the "end game" scenes + some hot scenes with all of the clothes on but that's just nitpicking.

2. I don't know how to feel about the leveling system. I played the game twice. Both times, I collected all bonuses (7 x extra HP, 7 x extra MP, 5 x extra attack, 7 x mana orbs, 5 x blood skull). The first time I leveled up only strength (+2 ATK) and intelligence (+4 MP). The second time, believe it or not, I only leveled up luck (+0.5% critical) and I didn't notice a significant difference. It was actually easier the second time but probably because of practice. I don't feel like leveling up attack makes much sense because of the augments. Leveling up intelligence is convenient and I still have to play one more time to see how leveling up constitution (+5 HP, +1 DEF) "feels".

Hints:
1. When you collect new weapons i.e. augments, don't forget to enable them. Press "Esc" to open the status menu and select your new weapon. (Not necessary if you only have 1 of the 5 augments, the first one you collect will be enabled by default I think.)
2. When you reach the really big monsters near the end of the game (the ones to big to jump around), consider using the poison wave instead of the gravity orb. You will need patience but you can win the battle unharmed. Just lure the monster to the end of the room you're in and jump on a safe platform. Sometimes there is only a safe platform on one side of the room i.e. it is important if you enter the room from the left or the right side.
3. If you're gonna level up luck, be careful! You have to level it up to 200 to have 100% luck but the game will allow you to level it up even further but it won't have any effect. For example, I accidentally leveled it up to 202 but it doesn't have any effect because 100% luck is maximum.
4. Make heavy use of the shield, screw attack and also the high jump because that one doesn't cost mana.

*If you don't have patience, use the map provided by AugoeidesCrowley: https://f95zone.to/threads/alien-quest-eve-v1-01-grimhelm.6016/post-3554754
The easiest way to use this map is to use two screens. I have two laptops and on one laptop I opened the map in paint and just painted over the bonuses I collected. That way, you won't forget which ones you got and which ones you still have to get. I would also like to recommend to save as often as possible i.e. collect at most 3 bonuses and then save; because if you die, you will have to start over again or pay the -50HP penalty to get resurrected.

I basically did the same thing, my two playthroughs. The first time I did Strength with about 33% Critical, and the second time I just went full Critical. The game felt a bit easier with full Critical (although, the early game was a bit harder). To be honest, I don't think Strength helps that much. I think with the full Strength build, I was doing around 1200 to 1900 by the endgame, whereas with full Critical, my damage was a constant 1500 or so, which seemed to kill enemies faster.

I still haven't tried an Intelligence or Constitution build though. Intelligence doesn't seem to viable though, as I rarely ran out of Mana, due to all the Mana Regeneration Orbs, and you can't really sequence break to get the better offensive abilties. As mentioned in an earlier post, someone is manipulating the game through cheat engine or whatever; if they enable endgame powers earlier on, I'd be willing to try again, but Intelligence doesn't raise power damage, so I can't see some of the early powers being useful later.

If Constitution even works, it might make surviving most of the game less frustrating, although I feel like the game has already become easier than I remember. Actually, in earlier builds of the game, I remember struggling just getting through the area that leads upto the third Boss, but Grimhelm seems to have eased up on things there.

Hello. I need some help. On this version of Alien Quest Eve, My fps is averaging around 45fps for some reason.

On version 0.13a, I was getting 60fps no problem. I also noticed that 0.13a says 64bit. Does version 101 here have a 64 bit or is there another option to fix this?

I think it's 64bit by default. The download link says "Win 64" next to it, anyway. I haven't had this issue, when switching between any versions of the game. It might be a computer problem on your end.

When was the last time you updated your graphics card? Are you running the game as Admin? Is your graphics card overheated in any way? Do you have any programs running in the background? Have you tried playing after a fresh start of your computer? etc.

Well, I actually have both running at the same time right now. both 101 and 0.13a. I'm alt tabbing between them and sure enough, 1 is at 60fps, the other is at 45fps. I see no difference in graphics either so maybe 101 has a setting change that is causing this?

just in case, I tried running as admin but no difference. My temps and everything is fine.

Update - screenshot. can't fit them both on my screen

Just in case, I"ll post my specs

i7-720qm
win 10 64 bit (latest ver)
ati 5870m (pretty old but works well as you can see since its playing both games) They stopped making driver updates for this so I have the best one.
ram = 12gb
running on an HDD atm.

Before I posted, I checked to see if there was something to change in Options that might help, but it's pretty standard as far as settings go. If one version is working, and the other isn't, it's most likely that Grimhelm updated the software in some way, since v0.13a

I'm not good at the detailed programming stuff, so I would say check to see all your stuff is properly updated. The game uses Unity, so maybe there's something you have to update with that. It's probably something dumb, like the jiggle physics on the tits requiring more data or something xD

I just scanned his website real quick, regarding the update, and I haven't seen anyone else complain about this specific issue, so I don't know what else to say. Hopefully, someone else here will have better suggestions.

Ok. I"ll try updating unity or whatever else i can.

update -Its no good. I updated what I could but my fps is still stuck at 45fps. My movements/ attack speed are all slow now in comparison.

Whats odd is the gallery is playing at full 60fps on the latest version while all slots are filled and playing the animation. But I get 45fps during the game.

So, I've known about this for a little while, but frankly I was too lazy to really dive into it further, but this thread keeps getting so much attention, that my interest in the game is quickly renewed. Every time I think I'm out, they keep pulling me back in! Actually, it's amazing how much detail and minor hidden things there are in this game. But anyway, back to what I was going to say.

This game has sequence breaking. It's not perfect in it's execution, but it does seem to be intentional. For instance, using the methods I will show in a bit, you can actually skip the first 2 Bosses. However, doing so seems to disable all of the alien eggs place throughout the game. This wouldn't happen unless Grimhelm specifically programmed it that way, as you normally can't even view an egg, until sometime after the first Boss.

Anyway, just like in the game that it attempts to heavily copy (Super Metroid), this game has wall jumping, and it's doable without an upgrade, although it very janky. Actually, it might be more accurate to say that certain parts of the wall "fit together" in a way that creates an invisible edge you can momentarily step upon (probably because of the Unity tileset Grimhelm designed), and then quickly jump off of. As far as I know, you need the Double Jump to perform this. Honestly have not tried without it, as the Double Jump is gained pretty early on, and you have to pass it right before you can start using it for this trick.

156_163_146_167 TheNextOne I feel like you two would have the most interest here, based on past posts I've read from you both. I'm editing my map, for quick reference, for those who are interested in this.

Just put an Uncensored.dat file next to the executable. When I say directory, it's just any place where the executable is. I consider the desktop a directory as well.
The nopy download does have that file included, by the way, but no SaveData.dat.
Gotcha. Turns out there WAS an Uncensored.dat file that got lost on my desktop. Thanks for the advice. :)

Beat the game recently, and it's pretty much what everyone else is saying: an extremely well-made game (actual game, not a visual novel to click through), with a fun difficulty curve, beautiful animation, tonally-fitting soundtrack, and excellent level design.

If I had one complaint, it would be that even if you dump every level up point 100% into attack power, some of the late-game big enemies are still too ridiculously tanky. Feels like I'm hitting em with a wet noodle. Beyond that, an absolute gem of a game.

Unfortunately, it seems that your expected to abuse to the Screw Attack for the second half of the game, which does make it arguably faster. From what I recall, a Critical-based Build seems to make damage more "consistent" and killing a bit faster.

Not sure if they appear anywhere else, but I found those in the final chamber during the last boss fight.

You're probably right. I actually couldn't beat Mother Brain the first time. Turns out I missed the screw attack power-up. Went back and found it, then the fight was much easier.

Not sure if your radeon settings has the same features as the newer ones, as I'm using a RX 590, but I would try seeing if you have a gaming profile settings that is controlling your fps as when I setup a profile for AQE it would run 60 on intro, 30-45 in game, and 60 in gallery but I set it to run around 30-45 fps so maybe if you do have the features it setup a profile or has some kind of global settings. As some of these features can make things act odd like running RE3:Nemesis fullscreen getting 30fps and shuttering because FRTC was on and set to 30 and freesync was on but it would run at 60fps in window mode.

Yeah, I remember being confused as to if wall jump was a thing or not, and then giving up on it out of frustration, since I couldn't reliably do it.

It's definitely doable, at the very least in the places where it matters the most, but it's a lot of just mashing on the direction keys and jump a lot.

I got kind of lucky in the video, as I managed to get one long recording with it working perfectly when I needed it too. Although, I did have to do like 5 recordings, because my software is stupid. Although, they say technology is only as good as the one that uses it xD

Any similar games? Keeping in mind graphics and side scrolling
I just finished playing Night of Revenge the other day, and it's almost identical. It has more in common with Dark Souls and Salt & Sanctuary though. It's also not a finished game, but it's quite long. Took me more than a few hours to finish. Your probably going to need to install an English Patch though. Someone in that thread explained how to do it in detail. It's kind of worth the download, if your a fan of these styles of games.

Just so I know for sure what you're talking about, you mean that the eggs that are normally around that area aren't spawned, right? I still don't think it's intentional. It could simply be that you're not activating some trigger for them to appear on the map by sequence breaking it. And you said how janky the wall jump is, and that it may be a side effect of the tiles of the map, which again leads me to believe it's not intentional.
Good find, though.

Yeah, but why would he program a trigger for the eggs, if we can't even see the rooms with them yet? It's not like it would save processing power or anything. I feel like he put more thought into this than we think. Maybe he planned for the wall jumping to be more of a thing and forgot. Whichever reason, it is there, and it opens up a realm of interesting play.

As far as I can tell, you can still basically get most of the power ups, since the Orange and Purple Key Cards open up the areas beyond the boss chambers your skipping. Not sure if I'll get around to finishing that playthrough, though.
