WIP teaser. No matter how much I wish to be fast at rendering, in the end it all comes down to PC build. If only I had access to better hardware. I could have finished this long time ago. But its alright, for now, all I need is Adobe lightroom.

30(4k) renders out 36 done. But I need to make more. I have used spot rendering on most of them. There are probably 10-15 Unique ones. Just a WIP update. Nothing to show off on Patreon just yet.

Cropped out from 4k.

I have the same problem and even worse. at least you can handle 4k, if I render in 4k my rig just hangs for hours and does nothing. xD Your pictures look good tho. :) I like them. For now I fiddeling around with hdr backgrounds I´m doing for my project,to lose some rendertime in the long run.

How long does it take for your 4k's ro render?
With me, a complex HD render takes between 30 minutes - 1hour. I don't even dare to guess how long a 4K one will take.
For a good pc-build. What should you focus on?
CPU i get, but how about RAM and graphics cards?

It's looking pretty good but one more thing I'd probably do (but maybe it's just matter of my preference with these fantasy looking models), is paint a little bit of gold over her iris. Something like this, or maybe just smaller rings just around the pupils.
I feel like it makes the eyes just pop out way more if done well.

I kinda overdid it with opacity and the top of the eye should be a little bit darker but it's just to show a point.

Little golden dots like the do in drawings to make them shiny? I can do that. Yep, thanks for the tip.
I don't know if it's the same in gimp but you want to make extra layer over the original image and then paint over the eye with a brush that's same color as the eye at some opacity, or slightly adjusted to what you are looking for and blend it in at certain opacity, you can also add some glow effect that can look nice. It's something I play around with when I'm bored just trying stuff and it can really make these renders focused on head look just better.

I'm generally ably to render 4k images in a reasonable time frame. generally I can do a set of 6 images within the 18-ish hours I work and sleep (don't know the exact render time of course but I limit the time to 4 hours. Which seems fine for most renders. Not unlike my HD renders.

Here's my lame-o 4K composite, maybe like 35 minutes rendering time (all CPU, no Nvidia CUDA), just to show how I decompose this shot... which is a lame shot because I spent 0 time on the background, and I could do more, but I just threw this together after I set up the pose for another shot.

Background is a separate layer series, shot at lower resolution and rendered in like 5 minutes while I was doing other stuff. I don't care about that because it's going to be blurred in a simulated DOF. So who cares? The trick was lining up the HDRI with the general direction of the lighting in the main image, but that's fast because it's a stripped down scene at lower res.

The main image is made up of my 2 figures. I let that run the longest, simulated at higher than 4K resolution (while I was working out). Since it's not full width, I don't care about true 4K here, but I DO care about pixel density where the figures actually are.

After that, it's just a composite shot (with some focus/lighting effects), which I finally exported to 4K UHD.
So, like 50 minutes from concept to final asset.

Why do you need to do your images in 4k? Most of the images that are made to be viewed online at most are 1800 to 2000 in size max. in my opinion the only reasion you would be an image at 4k is if you plan on printing it out on paper.
