The options that are in the game right now are Forgive her/two can play that game
forgive her --> forget about the past --> move on
two can play this game --> hold a bit of a grudge --> get to know her --> either: 1) forgive her, 2) be done with her.
But those options will be "deleted" and replaced with forget about the past (you were kids) --> get to know her again --> you like her/you don't

That's good to know for future reference, but it's a later than played knowledge. For you, who develops it, it's obvious why is it cut there, but for the players, who dives into it, and don't have a knowledge of what happens next, it will seem as another cutting it half in a weird place scenario.
The options present now aren't the problem at all. Forgeting or not is exactly the choices that a situation like this needs to have realistically, players like to immerse to an extent, and for most it's not so straightforward to move on superfast. It's something that if isn't present, people will feel like "This is a part where a choice of how to react would be better". The problem now is that it's in the wrong place as of right now, but taking it away and instead making it into a rather linear/kinetic route is not a good conclusion to draw.
I do think that the current Erryn content needs some rework, but that's because of a continuity issue. I just replayed from the beginning, and both the mom and Melissa says how much the MCs looks has changed. That is something obvious since more than five years has passed of course. Then in a random night club, Erryn was able to recognize him on first look, while they had no contact for that many years is something that's just comes off as unrealistic. Her design hadn't changed much, but the Mcs did. That is the part that could use some changes to it.

i'm glad the dev said that in the new update there will be a segment of Erynn's story just before mc came back so we can have this story resolved

If it's any consolation, your most controversial characters Alexis, and Eryn are still more likable and understandable, than Steph from the game Leap of Faith.

This is very well thought out from your part, congrats. The game started very well and the only thing I could find as an objection is it lacks some more insight into the main characters.
