And today on the Daz3D site ... The Plat for a Day sale has a ton of settings and interiors from i13 on sale for $1.99. These include the Jet Bundle, Theatre, Neighborhood Bar, Coffee Shop, , , and more. It should be noted that these are Bundles, so in addition to the sets, they also include poses appropriate to those sets. On a side note, as these are a bit older, the poses are designed for Genesis 3 models, however, with Pose Corrector mods, such as the and discussed in the original post in this thread under the Tools and Tutorials category, the poses should be usable on G8 models, or at least provide a decent starting point.

To easily locate all interior sale items, paste this in on the Daz3D search bar. Scroll down to Interiors > Structures > Places and Things.

In the Sort By pull-down on the right hand side, sort by price, low to high. This will also reveal a few other free items (if you don't already own them) like the and the . (Yes, Virginia, we do still talk about free stuff here on the Free Stuff for Daz3D thread :p).

This is a bit OT, but as I remember, one of you was dabbling with Carrara. Anyways, I figured that you might enjoy this Daz forum thread:

I stumbled across this when I was checking out this freebie thread:

That Stezza really seems to like Carrara!

Now back on topic, in light of the mustache sale at Daz3D, they are giving away free facial hair (for G8M), as well as . There may be other stuff available as well but it could be filtered for me since I already own it. This is a lesson to check Daz3D early and often, and sort by price low to high, which will reveal freebies that you may have missed.

This is technically a freebie, but definitely worth noting.

Daz Studio 4.14 has been released. This includes official support for Nvidia's RTX 3000 series graphics cards, and more notably the Filament PBR Viewport renderer, which is supposed to be fast...

Also, it's supposed to make working with animation in Daz Studio faster as well.

I'm still using an older version of Daz Studio (reasons), so others will need to comment on how well the new features work. In any case, it might be worth a closer look.

It was giving me fits downloading, so I will have to try it again. The update is also reputed to have improvements to animation, which I know is a favorite amongst VN developers for sure. While not exactly free, the Daz3D store has a bunch of G8/G3 models on sale today for $1.99. If you are looking to add to your arsenal of new looks, this may be worth a shot. This is part of the PC+ for a day promotion (you do not have to be a PC member to take advantage of these). A bunch of poses and a full-on fairy are part of the offerings, so if you've always wanted to include a fairy in your work, this may be the cheap way to get including HD wings.

OK. To download this, go into your Daz3D account, and click on Product Library. Filter by entering Daz in the filter area, then scroll down to Daz Studio 4.x Pro. Scroll to the bottom of the page and pick your preferred flavor (download/download and install and your platform, as well as which bit version to download (32- or 64-bit). You can then download and install the new version. Have fun all you lovely people.

Noobie here, is there any hard and fast rules for when I need an interactive license? I'm looking to create still images for a ren'py game and I'm not sure if I need to shell out for the license for certain asset packs.

Any tips or advice from more experienced creators would be greatly appreciated.

Interactive licenses are for when you export 3d character meshes into other game programs (say Unreal Engine) where the 3d characters move in real time. If you are just generating still renders, or even animation sequences (which are a bunch of still renders shown in order) you won't need an interactive license.

So yeah, you won't need interactive licenses for a Renpy game, which is essentially a Visual Novel engine, not a game engine.

Today at daz3D, there is a free item without any purchase constraint. The items are initially cheap and somehow old, but you can choose among 1000+ assets (and the price is right!).

The Daz 3D website is displaying a 30% discount for the annual PC+ subscription but the price for it is 70$ at the check-out. Is the usual price it goes for 70$ or is that the discounted value?

70$ is the base price. But the site states that to get the discount, you need to buy a new release. The discount will not display until that.
For the new releases, there are some cheap ones. Just look on the main shop page at the item list and try to find PC+ new release.
But, probably the best way (today) to get a cheap new relase is to buy ten items (or more) at 1$ and the 'winterscape backdrops'. This is a new release and it will count towards the PC+ membership and the 1$ discount and having ten items will make the backdrops free.

How generous is the 30% discount all things considered? Does it get that kind of discount often or is this a rare event? I've read in this thread that it goes up to 40 & 50% but I guess I've missed that kind of sale?

Well, there are larger discounts. But they are not so frequent. Maybe around christmas... But there no guaranty that the discount will be larger. During the PC+ month in october discounts are larger (they were 40% for new members and could be combined with other reductions). But you have to wait almost a year and during that time, you do not benefit from PC+ discounts.

I'm just trying to value my money's worth considering what I'm learning to do ATM is basic Daz3D and Renpy stuff, which is most likely the road most beginners take over here, as it seems the simplest way to learn - anyway and like OhWee said:

Technically I wouldn't even need to purchase anything to make a VN this way.

What OhWee says is that *interactive* licences are not required for a VN. Not that *regular* licences are not required. This is different.
Interactive licences are for 3D game that interactiviley generate images from models (and so you have to embedd the 3D model in the game).
But if you generate an image with a 3D model, you are supposed to buy a regular licence. If an artist or a merchant site sees one of its products in an image, a game, a VN, a site, etc, he can require from you the proof of the purchase. So, unless it is for personal use, you are supposed to purchase any item that you use. Otherwise, there is a risc, probably very small, but real. It is up to you to decide if you take it or not. But technically, you are supposed to buy assets, even for a VN.
