I'm not him, but i guess he use real photos with that art effect that make it look like a "painting", usually every image editor have this(or used to have).

Oh, thats one of my first renders, I didn't know how to make better backrounds at that time, so I added that image with photoshop, it has "brush stroke effect" to simulate the glass.

I still do not know. I could not use the daz in the backrounds. Whenever I add backrounds, +1 hour was added to my render times. (
